With a breathtaking view of the Aegean Sea, Asprolithos Villa was designed to reflect the simplicity and aesthetic of traditional Greek design. Constructed of locally sourced stone, each of the three villas has been whitewashed to maximise the reflection of light and heat. Each of the villas is connected to the other by large outdoor communal areas, surrounded by a contrasting raw stone wall. Inside, the 40 square metre spaces have been divided into zones by raising the living area, and recessing parts of the kitchen. The villa's built-in sofa allows the area around it to function as additional storage, while also doubling as a small desk. Throughout the villa, the focus is always looking out towards the sea. Creating a calm relaxing environment as you move from zone to zone.

Everything is open storage in this home, you would have to be a hardcore minimalist to maintain its feeling of openness, and to keep it from looking super messy in general. I think in this case it's definitely a home designed for aesthetics over practicality. Absolutely beautiful as a summer cottage for a few days though.

exactly. having people over would be a bit of a problem, even if its purpose is as a summer house. too much open-ness is appreciable in some houses, especially if there are still subtle separation. It has a great lighting and setup sure, but the open concept here is a bit of a bummer.

This is beautiful, but like many others, I was a bit disconcerted by the lack of bathroom privacy. Looking at the floor plans and the shot of the bathroom at 4:51, I think the toilet is actually in a separate niche behind the shower, and also has a door. Not sure why this wasn't made clearer in the video, though. "Can I poop in peace?" is pretty high on my list of criteria for good appartment design.

I think as a summer home, it's perfect! As long as you are careful who's able to view your shower, the openness means great ventilation, right? I doubt these tiny spaces were built for people bringing tons of stuff. Is there plenty of markets nearby to get daily foods and drinks? Simplicity can be so radiant and relaxing! 💞

visually its beautiful, but its strange that it can sleep potentially 6 people, but there is zero privacy for the bathroom, and no storage. you basically force people to have each of their travel bags laying out everywhere, cluttering up walkways. i would have given the closet and bathroom a folding wooden shutter door. the closet inset looks lovely open like this in the video, but practically, visitors will have more things to store. i would have made the bed lift up to have storage inside/underneath. i'd replace the wall sconces with ceiling lamps and added another open shelf over the sink, chuck the stools & add another 2 cabinets, leave out one shelf over the fridge to make the fridge a little bigger. last, i would have added a semi-transparent white curtain dividing the bed space and the lounge space.

@@carolinefalvey683 so only minimalist people will stay here? once there are actual guests who bring their travel bags & need to poop & shower like humans, not everyone will necessarily appreciate the open bathroom & cluttering up the space because theres nowhere to put their bags. even for just 2 people, i'd rather have some privacy in the bathroom..

Well, it obviously is pretty, but what about functionality? Many people in the comments pointed out lack of privacy in the bathroom and lack of closed storage. What concerns me is that almost no sitting space offers back support. The only one that does is the sofa in the living room, but only if you consider leaning on a bare wall a back support.

This seems more a hotel room than a villa, and even most hotel rooms have a small closet and a door to the bathroom. The kitchen might be too basic for an extended stay, especially since the location looks a bit remote. I do like the outdoor space but don't think this would be my first choice if staying in the area.

I myself live in a small studio apartment that I have decorated in an eclectic way with a mix of the 70’s and a Scandinavian style, with red, orange and yellow as my base colors. Men, women, children tell me that it is cozy or hygge. I love these videos but I still would like more individuality, craziness and less impersonal minimalism.

This is easily one of my top fav. The deco is very minimalist and so clean but yet manage to not look too empty and dystopian thanks to the tasteful use of wood, timber materials that helps give natural contrast to the predominantly white coloured interior. Love the curvy radius applied to many parts of the interior too, gives it fluidic flow throughout the space. Also loves the white raw rock texture of the exterior wall, looks so rich and beautiful. The best of all is the cat's cameo appearances 😺 Kudos to the designers, this is very inspiring, I love it ⭐

You guys were able to take perfectly usable land and made it into 3 small units not necessarily capable of being lived in but focused on form and short term stay so that the owner could get profit out of the property..... Not like anyone would have been able to live on that land or it couldn't be used for the community if it was given some other purpose. The world needs more air bnbs!

The magnificent mediterranean topography and sea in the opening sequence !!! Makes me think sometimes the outside is more important than the inside. So the design of the house is extroverted, the living is extroverted, the mediterranean climate integrates all the living environment. I think it would be helpful to let viewers know if the space was designed with Airbnb in mind - that changes perspective. Nothing looks comfortable in this space. It might be ok for a weekend with your family but not a long-term stay. The desk has no room for your knees under (and it's too high with this chair), so it's pretty useless. The counter and chairs in the kitchen are weirdly placed - one person is watching the wall while the other enjoys the view through the window. The opened shower might create an unnecessary wet floor all around the space after someone takes a shower and someone else wants to use toiled (not saying that it might be intimidating to shower there at all). However, it's still better than showering over the toilet seat, which is common in Greece.

This looks like a lovely getaway place for a holiday. I suppose if you were enjoying the sun and sea, you might not want to be indoors very long? I'm not sure about the function of such a tiny pool (perhaps to cool off? But pools get hot on hot days... does it have a jacuzzi, or is it like a hot tub? maybe not for the summer, hmm), though it is a fun idea! I guess if you are staying there with your SO or on your own, the bathroom having no door may be less of a concern, but I'd prefer a light curtain at the very least, to preserve the aesthetic while maintaining some privacy. I also wonder where one would have space to put your luggage? There isn't much room either side of the bed nor in the closet area. Even if this is meant to be like an airbnb or holiday space (I wouldn't call it a holiday home), you definitely need room for a suitcase or the like, rather than it sitting awkwardly in the tiny living area or squashed beside the bed.

It is done very pretty, elegant in simplicicity ---and yet: there are several impractical aspects of the design. Many others before me have mentioned already: I think most of us prefer a way to close off the bathroom door. At least for the WC. Also, why raise the bedroom when it is not even necessary? You make it too difficult, if not impossible for people with handicaps. where do people put their suitcases? Where do people do their laundry? No mention if there are any ways to cover windows or shade these at least. I saw the AC just over the bed: that is not for everyone. Is there a safe for documents money etc. included?

I'm fascinated by the cognitive dissonance between this idea of "living simply" by living in a space that requires you to order take-out every day, and have to use only disposable everything because there's no place to store personal belongings. The tiny house movement is dominated by either folks who have been brainwashed into thinking they're saving the planet by living in shoeboxes instead of tearing down the billionaire class, or the upper class building airbnbs.

Why do you keep watching videos on this channel when you have such disdain for small space design and the type of people it appeals to?

For a lot of us, “living in a shoebox” has little to do with “saving the planet” and more to do with living within our means and purging the unnecessary noise so we can figure out what we really need and love and fill our lives with that. Living simply doesn’t mean being able to put all your belongings in a Honda Civic- it means putting your time, energy, and money into what matters to YOU. I can see myself living in [some] of the homes featured on this channel, no problem.

I can imagine the space as a vacation rental or for a single person without children. It is very well designed space considering 40m2.

This is not a house but an airbnb. The interesting part of these videos is how people manage to deal with storage, the bathroom etc. Most of these concerns don't apply to what is essentially a big hotel room.

Not so sure about not having a closed door between toilet and the bedroom. Lovely house for one person staying there though

Look at the floor plan more closely. There's a door between the toilet and the rest of the bathroom clearly marked on it.

There are people of two types of psychology. One is super minimalistic, super open... doesn’t bother about their privacy and can sleep anywhere anytime. This interior is for them.

Beautiful open design and clean aesthetics, it’s a nice place for a short holiday but to stay in it as a home may not be functional due to the lack of storage, a proper dining table to host and the open bathroom. Yikes, zero privacy if you are sharing a space beyond with your partner. The outside looks a good hangout spot 😬

That was my thought. If guests were staying overnight I'm not sure how comfortable one would feel about showering in a semi open space.

Fine for a short stay Airbnb , but not anything more permanent. Close the bathroom from everyone and everything.

Really like this summer home. I can stay there for a month or so and love each day. I love the color of natural wood combined with white, so I would have asked for the beams and the pergola retain their natural color. I also would like my bath to be private so I'd ask for a sliding door or smth, and I'm also worried about water splashing all over the place

Despite the clean aesthetic, this is not my favourite space on your channel since it is very clearly a holiday house/AirBnB. Even those spaces you have shown previously with their main focus as being a temporary place to stay still feel homey and as though someone could viably live there. Also, confused why this video has not shown up on your Patreon feed?
