What's the moral of the story?! Don't buy diamonds! Instead, buy moissanite. 😁 As moissanite are getting the same results regarding el. conductivity, hardness. They even sparkle more. Plus they are cheaper. Don't be a fool and fall for overpriced stone when you can have pretty much the same stone for a fraction of a price. Mind you, I have both - a diamond and a moussanite ring. And I love moissanite more 😉

Diamonds are over priced and only about 30% of them are gem quality, most diamonds I see shouldn't be in them! Most people are uneducated and misinformed, they wouldn't know a good diamond from a bad one.

@@leonalyon8201 Moissanite, in it's natural form, is rare. Only about 14-15 karats have been found. Lab grown is still moissanite just as lab grown diamond is still diamond. Moissanite is NOT a diamond, nor is it a synthetic diamond. It's a different stone. It shines more, has more fire than diamond. And is nearly as hard as a diamond. That's why moissanite will test as diamond. These testers test hardness. Moissanite barely rates below diamond, but is prettier. A cheap moissanite is not a good stone anyway. I would rather have a good moissanite than diamond.

Moissanite ranks 9.25-9.50 on the Mohs scale making Moissanite one of the hardest gemstones on earth. It's unusually high hardness makes scratching and abrasions very rare, even after many years of daily wear and tear.

This is true however the mohs scale is not linear. A diamond is about 140 times harder than a sapphire, but a sapphire is a 9 in the mohs scale and a diamond a 10. So a diamond is still significantly more durable than a moissanite stone. Anyways moissanite is incredibly durable. They are however a bit white and milky so it doesn't have that nice clarity a diamond has, and the rainbow reflection might be a turn off for a lot of people because it makes it look like cubic zirconia. I do like coloured moissanite though, so in my case I'm planning on getting some dark grey moissanite earrings.

If you are only buying it for how it looks then yes. If you want to ensure the value will sustain, then absolutely no. A natural diamond will not be any means automatically give it value. Several other factors determine it's value such as, is it colorless? What is the VS rating? What is the carat? What is the shape? You can have a huge carat for a diamond but a 2k diamond can be more expensive and more valuable than a 3 or sometimes even a 3.25 carat because the 2 carat is colorless grading D and has nearly zero imperfections, and is a natural shape.
@HyperbolicMedia
@HyperbolicMedia Жыл бұрын
Moissonites are really worth more ya know? They're easier to make, can come in a plethora of color combinations even able to mimic SPHENE, they have up to 3× the color refraction than a standard diamond. Cheaper price and similar hardness on the mohs scale. Not AS high as diamonds but a good proper Moissonite will land a 9.25 on the Mohs hardness scale. I have a couple rings of them, ive seen moissonite come in Blue, Green, Teal, Pink, White, Yellow, Champaign, and even dabbled into color duos making some that mimic Sphene. Its only cheap cause we learned how to make it in a lab. Diamonds nowadays should also drop in price because of lab created abundance but the market doesnt want you to know that because then they make less money on a "timeless gemstone".

That’s why they’re afraid of Moissanite, which is NOT cheap in the way its detractors mean. It is a beautiful stone and, unless you are able to buy a diamond ring that will increase in value, that’s what you should opt for in an engagement ring. The normal run of diamond engagement rings are a waste of money and many men put themselves into unnecessary debt because they don’t want others to think they are mean.

Don't buy cheap diamond testers period and the one your using not designed for Moissanites. The most effective way to tell Moissanite apart from a diamond is to use a loupe to look through the top, or the crown, of the jewel at an angle. Natural diamonds will have inclusions whereas labs are flawless. I suggest you to buy a jeweler's eye (loupe) so you can see internal details of a stone.

Dude….. they make testers that can differentiate between moissanite. It’s just a 1000% price difference.

So many people are missing the point of this video, he is not talking shit about moissanite, he is telling you to be careful when purchasing diamond rings, because they could be moissanite, and the tester will not distinguish between the two. e.g. you may think you are buying a 5k diamond ring, but it may infact be a 200 moissanite stone.
