A B-Side off the Little Baby Nothing EP, and also my favourite Manic Street Preachers song.

Magic to discover such rare gems such as this. James is a genius in how he creates such vocals n melodys. My new fav Manics tune.

I love this, when I first discovered the Manics back in 1994 when I was 13, all I had to listen to was the tapes of faster/PCP, life becoming a landslide and the 7” singles of Roses in the hospital and Little Baby Nothing, which my brother gave to me without the sleeve. My mum found the sleeve later when cleaning his room though and I still have it and all the others mentioned.

A classic Manics song and so under-rated... didn't even make the 'Lipstick Traces' compilation!

One of the great Manics b-sides. Up there with some of their best music for me from that era. This, Hibernation and Are Mothers Saints. Should have been A-sides and album inclusions.

Manics were had great b-sides during the 90's similar to Oasis - this song is my fave manics song too

I think the Little Baby Nothing EP/12 inch single was incredible. It wouldn’t qualify for the singles chart now, it’s too long and too many tracks, which is crazy. Like the Smiths before them the Manics put great tracks on their B sides. Thanks for the upload.

Up there with Donkeys another great b-side of theirs

Feel blessed that i had all these b sides way back in the day on old boot leg tapes. I felt SO lucky and excited to get MANICS b sides back then! I don't even remotely listen to any of their new stuff any more, and hardly ever listen to the old stuff that made me SUCH a fan back in the day, but had a sudden compulsion to delve back into the treasure chest of b sides, thank god for you tube!

Maybe my fave Manics song - a great riff which James was happy to throw away after playing it twice - he is so unselfish...................slavetothechord you are very very right

I always say this song should be called "Manic Street Preachers Are Fucking Idiots" since, well... how the hell could they leave this song as just a B-side? Generation Terrorists - being the brilliant album it is... if this was on there, it'd be the best song on the album. If it was an A-side, then it'd be one of the best singles they ever did! I was lucky enough to get the 4 Disc edition of Generation Terrorists last year, and this is the song that really stood out to me!

Going off of the guitar tone, sounds like this was recorded during the 'Suicide Is Painless' sessions in Cardiff.
@peterblackman86527 жыл бұрын
It appears as a b-side on the Japanese release of Suicide Is Painless, so you could be right.

My friend had that Japanese version you mentioned. It also had 'Dead Yankee Drawl' and 'Ain't Goin' Down' on it.

totally agree with those sentiments...cant believe its nearly 20yrs ago they wrote this! One of James best early vocals and a sign of later things to come absolutely.

I'm sticking my neck out here, but this blows half of the Generation Terrorists album out of the water. And yes, why wasn't this on Lipstick Traces or ANY compilation?
@MarcoNegrisEye Жыл бұрын
You're right. And 'Dead Yankee Drawl' was even better! I remember thinking most of the b sides from Generation Terrorists singles were better than some of the album tracks. Sorrow 16. Democracy Coma. Bored Out Of My Mind...

Why do people compare this band to the Clash? I don't think they sound anything like them.
@ratkomartinovic65286 жыл бұрын
They have political critics as Clash well

Suicide Alley sounds like The Clash! parts on IfwhiteAmerica too.
@sleepflower93Ай бұрын
@@thesoundlikechameleons2082 Yeah so many of their early demos & singles sound like they were trying to replicate the sound of that first Clash album, but also I think the comparisons early on are partially down to how they sounded live, much punkier than their studio material. So of course journalists would come to see them & just think they sounded like The Clash
