One that i wish people had told me: Don't waste your Astral Diamonds buying gear before level 70 or even 80. At level 70 you receive a quest from Lord Neverember and he'll give you a chest full of gear, weapons, companion gear, etc all for FREE. Save your shiny blue bricks for lvl80. You need a lot of them.

I'd really advise taking a Deepcrow Hatchling as a first pet at high level. It's one of the cheapest augment pet. It's epic from the start (consider the fact you need 750k AD to upgrade a green pet to purple/epic). And its offence power gives 8k power at legendary. Then the most important thing to do at level 80 is getting rank 15 bondings. You can do mostly everything with just a legendary augment pet and rank 15 bondings. But maybe that's for another video like "What to do when you reach lvl 80 ?".

@@blackcitadel37 As long as you have most of your stats capped at 68k and more than 100k power, you can do lomm (if you know the mechanics). Bondings are the best way to get more stats (with my pet, I have 69k armor pen, without it I have 16k. It's a legendary Deepcrow Hatchling with purple gear you get from quests in Undermountain and rank 15 bondings, nothing else... Well, I do have 26.8% companion influence and 12.5% bonus from bolster but that's not too important, really). Rank 14 bondings are certainly good, and you might want to upgrade other things before upgrading them to 15 (didn't do the maths). But clearly, bondings are all that matters this mod.

The only thing i would say to tip 1 is yes, just put on the gear that has the most green numbers, but keep your weapon up to date as much as possible (even if only with the bounties in the zone that matches your level). Weapon makes a huge DPS difference while going from 1-70, and its super easy to keep up on

@@Silv3ry You cant turn off the popup, but you can turn off the in chat box version. BUTTTTT they did make it FAR less intrusive, its at the top of the screen now (instead of the middle) and its font is much less annoying. I find its much much easier to ignore now

If you add money to your steam wallet first, then go in game and buy the zen using your steam wallet you won't go on probation. Learned that after getting put on probation and then experimented a bit to find a way around it

@@Silv3ry So I made a 2nd account and tried to refer myself using my old account and according to refer-a-friend my old account has never had a character above level 10, even though I had just logged into the character selection screen and sure enough I had a level 35 barbarian. Didn't log onto the character though. I'm wondering if my account is so old that the refer-a-friend server base simply never added it to the archive list. Which makes me wonder if I can juke the system and benefit from refer-a-friend on my old account. xD I've seen odder bugs occur.

Just remember though, once you passed lvl 10, your only option is refer someone else or even refer a new account you create. Even if you delete that character that is over lvl 10, the refer a friend will not work anymore although I do know of someone who was over lvl 10 but somehow was still able to use the code, it's not something you can duplicate, he just got lucky I guess cause of game lag. The refer a friend is really the best you can do to help a new player to the game but they really have to new, lvl 5 is very easy to pass and you'll miss out on weapons that level with you up to lvl 60.

THIS GAME IS AN EXTREME GRIND, which is exasperated by some very harsh timegates and RNG mechanics. Yet much of this can be circumvented by spending real world money which does not necessarily make Neverwinter pay to win, but definitely comes across as predatory IMO. For new players this won't be immediately apparent until after they've invested dozens (perhaps hundreds) of hours into the game. This to me seems like it was done intentionally; with some free quality of life items (inventory space, bank space, slightly faster mounts, etc.) given early on (to encourage the player to invest more time into playing) that become cruelly insufficient late/mid-to-late game. Inventory management becomes horrendously tedious unless one shells out the cash or AD to buy expansions (bags/bank space). To compound this is the movement speed of mounts which is incredibly slow. Making the running back and forth from quest and grinding even more tedious. Epic and Legendary mounts are sufficiently fast to alleviate this, but are incredibly difficult to obtain as a new player w/o spending money/AD or being the recipient of some very generous player charity. Astral Diamonds (AD) can be earned via in game activities to buy much of what can be purchased with real cash, but earning enough AD to spend on essential quality of life items and much needed endgame gear(in lieu of cash) can literally take months or years even; as only so many can be earned in one day. Leveling to 70 can be done relatively quickly , especially if one buys an exp. booster. However I do agree with Silvry that it's best to enjoy the story (of which the majority exist in the low level zones). End game campaigns and zones have very little narrative and story; that only seem to exists for the purpose of facilitating the excruciatingly repetitive grind of the daily campaign quest. Furthermore (and finally),progression slows to almost a complete halt once the end game campaigns are reached and the difficulty spikes tremendously. Simply gaining the better gear needed to adequately participate in the lvl 70/80 zones/campaigns or mid/upper tier difficulty dungeouns can take literally months of grinding to get. High leveled Weapon and Armor enchants, which offer notable performance increases are extremely difficult and time-consuming to obtain (whether directly or via auction house). They are also among the most expensive items to buy via the auction house with AD, and gaining them via 'normal' means can be an infuriating RNG nightmare (similar to BDO's weapon upgrade mechanic). Neverwinter is a fun game, but I would warn new players against it if they're looking for a MMO in which they can reach (and adequately participate in) end game content within a few months like ESO. Because it will literally take years. That is unless one is willing to spend some serious cash.

I've been playing for about 2 months now for just a couple hours a day and am lvl 80 with 14k equipment. (Just one toon though - though I never did see the benefit of running multiple toons at high lvls simultaneously)I know this is still pretty weak as far as end game goes but I've been having fun the whole way through and don't see the game getting boring or mindless with the repetitive grinding any time soon. Granted, I'm a huge dnd nerd and am really enjoying going through the campaigns I played at the table in ttrpg form. I suppose your enjoyment depends on your expectations. For me, this is a casual pass time and only secondly or even thirdly a competitive form of gaming. As such I really enjoy it. What I don't understand is the gripes about the "pay for quality of life" system. I mean the game is completely free. The developers have to make their money somehow. Do you expect them to work for free? In the world of monthly subscriptions, pay to wins and actual necessary microtransactions to even play a game at a normal level, the system herw is better than most. You can actually reach end game and highest lvl play without paying a dime - it's just gonna take more time.

@@dwaithman7166 It turns out that I had to wait a day to receive the reward (Server reset possibly). Also, one of the rewards (the mount) is level 20, so after you get level 20, wait a day, and then you can claim.

Buy 23000 Zen, VIP rank 12, don't buy enchantmented keys. Buy a couple of epic mounts (account unlockable). Change zen for diamonds on the exchange, buy a legendary mount for your main character. Don't rank up enchantments or runestones, sell or components and buy enchantments and runestones at rank 13 from the AH. Get into an active guild. Did I miss anything else?

The "say" channel is also based on proximity. If you're standing by Neverember, you won't see anything someone at Moneycoins types into Say, you need to be in the same area.

I'd never turn off Zone (Altough while in the Enclave it's undertstandable, but it's worth turning on when outside) or Say, but especially do not turn off Say under any circumstance, a lot of players from my experience aren't using the party channel due to it bugging a lot (one has to manually toggle it each dungeon run it seems) and there is more to gain from having greater awareness through those channels being active when outside Protectors Enclave. Usually things aren't so bad outside of there, usually. I often actually leave my channel to Zone or Say by default as I find it annoying to manually switch to party every run (Unless it's a REALLY serious dungeon, but I don't get into those super often yet with my low item level)

A Note on #4: Speed is talked about about, and later on talking about "Zen" it's mentioned that really only the VIP is worth it. It's mentioned to wait to spend Zen till you know you like the game, and this is good advice, but buying VIP Rank 12 isn't like "stressed". The time you save riding back to a portal to change maps, or looking for a bank, or a mailbox is invaluable. Plus you get more more HP which helps. If you like the game, spend $50 like you would for any game and achieve rank 12 VIP(buy during 1/2 off and any other promotional time. These will often stack making things even cheaper. Plus you can get a 20% off from invoking). Wile your year passes start saving ad and buying Zen, so any later VIP purchases are now being funded by the game itself. VIP is really important IMO. Can we still complain about Mod 16? lol XD I'm not sure if it's a factor, but it looks like my first Guild I had joined with my first Character is folding. I believe numerous changes in Mod 16 was part of it. Have you noticed or heard reports of Guilds folding because of the changes? Also curious if you're still hearing about the complaints on the wire that many people had with Mod 16? What's the current "pulse" of things?

My tips as a noob, played roughly six months and barely made i through MOD 16. Saving up for a runic bag for your most active characters is not a bad idea. Constantly having your inventory full and having to stop and delete and sell stuff is rather annoying. Also, use the bank for some extra inventory. When leveling up a character try all the skirmishes appropriate for your level, most of them are really fun. Also I would recommend staying away from fighter, formerly known as Guardian Fighter. In MOD 15 quite fun to play but nowadays in my opinion sucks a**.
