What a great thing to wake up to. You are really knocking it out of the park lately.

Thanks, Marc! I can't tell you how much difference the camera sliders, wireless mics, and new editing workflow have made. It's like night and day. So much more efficient to produce tabletop content now. Fun times. :)

So happy to see this! I stumbled -- badly -- through a first playthrough of this some weeks ago and it just didn't click. Still, there's something there that I like but just can't see how to make work yet. This will take some time to learn and I'm glad you have a series on it. Your one on Men of Iron helped me greatly and it's good to know I can come back to your Nevsky series when I pull that out again.

Thanks! I hope it'll come in helpful when it's time. :) I'm still fairly new to the game, so it's quite likely they will be some errors at some point. I'll try to keep the "Known Errors" sections of the videos up to date as things pop up. :)

As we get into the campaign part it gets really fun. The Levy is kind of the making of the meal. The Campaign is when we get to eat it. :)

with the release of Almoravid the price for Nevsky has suddenly incurred a dramatic increase in price. Like the look of the game as well as seeing how your solo mode is going to work.
@ZillaBlitz2 жыл бұрын
Nevsky looks available on this side of the pond, but I realize you have challenges on your side of the pond. :) From what I've seen of Almoravid I think anyone could start with either game. :)

Completly un-related to your video here, Have you picked up "A Most Fearful Sacrifice: The Three Days of Gettysburg" by Flying Pig? I finally had to break down and buy it...lots of really excited folks talking about it, that it might be groundbreaking...some of it may be hype, but from the play thru vids I have watched, It looks amazing. Don't know if your into Civil War stuff or it's your style of game but I think this one might be a winner. It is a bit pricey but I would love to see you do some play videos on it...I think it could be fun.
@ZillaBlitz2 жыл бұрын
Ha! Yes! I actually did get that one, as one of the two games I picked up to explore the Civil War. :) I'm glad to hear that it's being well received. I'll have to do the unboxing for that one and start to explore it soon. I'd be curious to hear how you like it once you get playing it. :)

@@ZillaBlitz Yep, planning on diving in later this week. It has 9 smaller scenarios and it also has the different days of the battle in smaller chunks and most scenarions only need 1 map board to play. The Map is huge, but is stunningly beautiful as well. Might be one of the best wargame maps ever made actually. I have played the blind swords system that the game is based on, and the system itself is a lot of fun and feels very historical. As its a "Chit-pull" (Card Pull in AMFS) it makes solo play a lot of fun and has great Chaos mechanics. Would be cool if maybe after you set it up, some of your audience could role play as the commanders and you play the other side....might be a bit fiddly, but having your viewers write up a plan of battle and you try and follow that for the opposing force I think would be a blast with the caveat that the instructions would be general and not a unit by unit command. Could make things interactive and would allow viewers to be a bit more immersed into the game. Maybe try it with a smaller scenario and see how it works, or a different game all together. I don't think anyone else on KZbin has done anything like that.
@ZillaBlitz2 жыл бұрын
This sounds great, yes! I've actually been thinking of incorporating some playthroughs exactly like you mention, with each side played by someone giving general orders and then I'd try carry them out as best as possible. It's a solid idea, for sure! The game sounds great, too, and one of the reasons I was looking forward to it was that it came with so many smaller scenarios as well. :)
@lonl1232 жыл бұрын
@@ZillaBlitz I think you would be the perfect person to experiment with something like that. You making the audience crew members in "By stealth and Sea" was a great idea, and makes the audience immersed and interested in your content (Well, at least until the mortar went off on my face) LOL. Hope to see you try that...would be groundbreaking for wargaming channels.
@ZillaBlitz2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I think as you mention, finding the right game for it would be key. I've got a few other ideas for building off that participation theme, I think it's something that can add a lot to a series. Probably not for every series, but definitely fun to try some things. :)

If you don't know how to pronounce italian names and words, just put the accent upon the third-last vocal letters, coming from the end of the word itself, then... Most italian names and words have, in fact, such accentation... There are obviously exceptions, such as the city name of Milano, which has the accent put upon the letter "a" instead of the "i" letter. Also Torino, has the accent upon the "i" instead of the first "o" letter in the word... And many others... Like Piacenza, Bologna and so on... All of them do present accent upon the second letter, starting from the end of the words themselves.
@ZillaBlitz2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I can definitely use this as a rule of thumb. Much appreciated! :)

@@ZillaBlitz There is plentyful of youtubers that teach how to speak italian, one I suggest is "Impariamo l'italiano"... Even if the guy that runs such channel has a strong accent from the region called "Veneto"; which is, obviously, the region where the city of Venice is (Venezia, accent upon the second "e"; just in case, you want to say that name in correct italian). And I also think that some other guys also running that channel, are from italian speaking regions of Switzerland or from Trentino-Alto Adige, other regions with strong and amusing dialects and accents, but regions where also other languages such as french or german language are spoken...

Thanks! I do think it would be good for me to spend a bit of preparation time before an episode learning how to get closer with the pronunciation of places/names in the episode.

@@ZillaBlitz What a great walkthrough of the scenario! Nevsky is currently one of my favorite games, I think the siegeing is really a interesting design -but as a dane i just had to point out that the 'K' in "Knud" is not silent, and is pronounced more like "Ku-nud". But great series with interresting randomness, i hope you can find somebody to play a full campaign with and give us a nice 6-hour video :P
@ZillaBlitz2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Soren! I was actually looking up the pronunciation of Knud a week or so ago when another viewer mentioned the pronunciation was incorrect, and the Internet seemed to indicate what you're saying as well. Thanks for the correction! It would be great fun to play a full campaign, but wow, that would be a long series. I've found that video-length is running me twice as long as game length, so a 6-hour game would end up as a 12-hour video series. (I'm toying with some ideas to shorten that ratio up, though.) That'd be a major project, for sure, but great fun. :)

I get zero fulfilment for playing wargames solo. Why do so many wargamers do it and has it made wargames worse? Wargame designers have had less need to create playable games because so many people just play them solo where the game length and balance matter less. This game for example seems like yet another wargame that is way too long to play with a friend. *Most* wargames are like that and it's ridiculous.
