Micheal you know your piston ring gap spin in the cylinder bore as the engine runs so where you place the gaps as long as the are sperated doesn't really do much.

Derek from VGG contacted the block manufacturer for Independence who said staggering the ring gap is just a feel good thing. Once the engine starts the rings will rotate on the piston regardless. 1000hp claim is pretty click-bait-y, but I must say that's a good looking engine.

What did you have to do to run the individual intake runner? Looking to put one on my 97 12v. I know a guy selling a milled head, the runner and lines but he said the flange on the head is different and would have to make a new intake. Curious what advice you have, don't see many of these intakes.

I have never seen freeze plugs like that. Are they available for any size engine. I have used steel and brass. One time I blew one out on the road and used a rubber one until I got home and replaced it. The brass one seem to last longer than steel. I like those because of the flange.

Not to sound stupid but I have rebuilt a few 4, 6, and 8 cylinder engines. I now have a Truck with a 7.3 diesel engine. I've been through the engine just enough to replace oil seals and fuel system including the injectors. I've seen the 12 valve on your channel and some others. Do they have glow plugs?. Stupid question I know but this is my first diesel engine.
@jasontruman12153 жыл бұрын
No they do have a grid heater in the intake though. (Works kinda like a toaster) they do help cold starts but not really needed most industrial cummins motors don’t have them.

@caveone-3653 жыл бұрын
I agree. Was thinking the same thing. The manifold is a nice piece and I think running the lines top side would make more sense if you were ‘making them work’ by yourself in the garage. If they are supposedly made directly to pair with the manifold, they should be a little cleaner looking like pre-bent to run in between the runners. Sure it’ll make disassembly take a little longer but would look wayyyyy cleaner and you wouldn’t have any clearance concerns with the hood. My .02
@joemillman15433 жыл бұрын
You realize rings rotate on the pistons when the engine is running and your ring alignment is a mute point within about 30 seconds of running. Not sure why this is not general knowledge and people waste their time fiddling with rings.

It's like Greg knows the truth deep-down, but he just can't bring himself to swallowing said truth, me myself, I like meeting people who know more than I do about the things I'm into, because I know I'm about to learn something new, in the last video Greg poked-fun at Michael for going home to get the correct hammer for the job, what I seen was somebody who's willing to go above and beyond to do a job right, even when doing the job for a douche-bag that don't deserve it, laugh about it if ya want, but you're very lucky to have Michael put his hands on your engine, ;-)
