Hi George, Great video. I too leave my rigs outside 24/7 and cover them like you do. I do place a large beach towel over the scope first, then use the same cover you have. I've done this for years with no issues, other than some rusting on the adjustment knobs on the mount for the polar alignment. I totally agree with you about the field flattener for the SvBony refractors. I have the 80mm dual f/7 and it certainly would benefit with a flattener. Fortunately, I have the Orion flattener for short focal length refractors, and it works like a champ. I will be looking forward to your Triangulum galaxy project. Clear skies. - Patrick -

Hello, Patrick! I also have a little bit of rusting on adjustment knobs and a little at the bottom part of the tripod legs. I wipe down the telescope and the mount from dew before covering and use desiccant as well. Talking about M33, I’ve got more than 53 hours of total exposure time now! Next three nights should be clear, and I might go to 100 hours of total exposure time 🤔

hi patrick, which temperature range is the scope exposed to during the season or year ? We got from 25-30 celcius to maybe -5-10 in the winter some days (actually difficult to say because of global warming.) br Kenneth

Liked and subscribed! I've got this scope on the way with the .8x reducer but would like a 1.0x flattener also. Currently investigating, but as someone already mentioned, Svbony's flattener for to 80mm Sv550 seems to work.

Nice! I just ordered one today. Are you using the Svbony Focal Reducer & Field Flattner in this video? When I checked, it didn't look like this was available to the market until January.

Yes, I use SV209 0.8x Focal Reducer/Field Flattener there. I got it together with SV550 telescope when they were selling together. P.S. I really enjoy this telescope. By the way, I've been working on my biggest project I had ever done - 200 hours of total exposure time collected on a target. I am imaging now actually, and I should have 196 hours of total exposure time by the end of the night. Hope to complete this project by the end of next week.

Thank you! At the moment I mostly use SV220 dual narrowband filter. When it comes to broadband imaging I switch to UV/Ir-cut filter from Optolong.

thank you. I am thinking acquiring the 2600MC pro and as an example with the eg. new narrowband normalisation in pix insight - is it not "just" a technical question when OSC are so close to mono, that it just get a colour camera and some good narrowband or triband filters ?@@AstroCreation

@@meibergstrmandersen9181although there are indeed filters and processing techniques that give you nice results, still, you will get much better results with a monochrome camera. A mono camera requires more time to get an image, but it worth it. On the other hand, there are more money to put into monochrome camera. Talking about 2600MC, I've used this camera for almost two years now, and I am really happy with it; however I might sell it in the future and upgrade to 2600MM Pro camera.

As you can read i am a newbie to this, and due to time constraints driven a lot by ease of use, hence accepting maybe a 90 % result at 1/3 of the time. My concern with mono, is as you points out the element of time, given busy days, family, sleep and dependency on clear skies. How hot / cold is in there, in respecting of leaving it outside ? Tough to access quality of pictures. Targets are not so challenging. Computer screen doesn’t show good resolution for M13. Colors of stars are not optimal. Did you use filters? What is camera? What are integrated FWHM and eccentricity numbers?

Each picture is accompanied by all relevant details. Regarding FWHM, I didn't really get into that topic yet. @@AstroCreation I see details now in AstroBin. Do you use color calibration? FWHM is resolution of your rig: scope, focuser, mount, etc. Pixinsight analyzes pictures and give you numbers.
