Hi Ollie that looks like a great scope mate , good to see some competition in the telescope market place , thanks for taking the time to make these video looking forward to seeing your first light with this set up

@Tony-Elliott Cheers Tony yep hopefully can get it out a bit more this next week if these clouds will give way a little. You're right there's certainly more competition in brands now, maybe not so much with manufacturers.

That's a nice sized refractor and seems like it nicely put together. Looking forward to seeing the imaging results.

@LogansAstro Ye so far Logan looks as well built as the 102 I have. Ye I could use some clear skies now to get it under the stars more!

Nice review Ollie! The one thing that I think lets these scopes down is the font on the dew shield. It looks like a nice product yet they didn't put a lot of thought into the name and how its looks. It always appears to me like they spend all the money on R&D and slapped the name on as an after thought. I think you should try your Quark out on this scope. Its only 2mm over the recommendations of Daystar so you'll be fine 🙂

I have to ask as its bugging me. What do you use the hook for on the wall next to the speaker?
@AstroSoundscapeАй бұрын
@SimonT65 Hey Simon yes indeed I think some renaming would be a good idea on these to give more appeal. Can't be bothered putting the Quark on this don't have the seeing to support this focal length. Clear skies.

@SimonT65 Ha🤣, it did have a picture on it and is currently used to hang my headphones off.

Looks so similar to the Esprit 120 Ollie, similar specs I guess too! Probably a lot cheaper as well! Good review mate, will be interested to see the results Ollie 👍 Clear skies!
@AstroSoundscapeАй бұрын
@SimonsAstro Hey Simon, yes it's interesting as it's a bit more portable at only 2/3rd the weight of the Esprit but the Esprit has slightly better optics using the FPL-53 glass. I think though at half the cost and very good optics still it's pretty attractive. Clear skies 👍

Hi Ollie, I own this scope and for the money is well worth it! Now the rear CCA is common to unscrew! Also note that the rotator is the weakest link on this scope, if you place a laser in the scope and rotate it the laser will move around. This is made by KYO in China, the focuser is good as well as the finish... Optically very good for a $1500 scope not a TAK but 1/2 the price... Looking forward in your testing.
@AstroSoundscapeАй бұрын
@whatmattersmost6725 Hey there good to hear some thoughts on this as I'd heard one or two people comment on the focusser. Yes for this price I can live with the rotator being a bit stiff. So far tests are looking good.

Looks a nice bit of kit mate look forward to seeing the results, still looks very similar to Altair scopes with the exception of the glass used.
@AstroSoundscapeАй бұрын
@dumpydalekobservatory Hey Tich yes I believe many of these scopes are variations from the same factory.

The SV 122 triplet is a very nice refracfor for just 1399 $. Now I own the SV 102 ED which I like a lot but I intend to also buy the bigger brother SV 122 triplet in the near future since at that price it doesn't have much competition (maybe just the Askar 120 ED triplet).
@AstroSoundscapeАй бұрын
@3dfxvoodoocards6 Yes for the money it's a very attractive piece of kit it's around the $2100 here in AUD.

Watch the length of the scope with that mount- Don't let the camera hit the tripod legs!
@AstroSoundscapeАй бұрын
@AstroDenny Ye, no worries, Denny. I'll be selecting an appropriate target. If it were staying on here, I'd get an extension. 👍
@3dfxvoodoocards6Ай бұрын
That setup most probably weighs around 8.5 kg (or more) since ths SV 122 triplet has exactly 6.4 kg.

Was wondering what size filters/filter wheel you are using with the 2600mm. Is it possible to get away with 1.25” filters? Thanks
@AstroSoundscapeАй бұрын
Hi There - I use the 36MM filters and wheel. The 1.25 are too small for an APS-C camera, but fine if you went the 533MM or a 4/3rd size sensor. Cheers
