Great video Jon. I think Schrade has done a great job of improving the 36 and 37, and I liked them already. And Chris' knife is sick.

It is amazing what those knives can do, and the Teflon coating makes a big difference as it makes it more user friendly. Gives me a good Christmas idea for the men in my life. Thanks Jon. Happy Father's Day to all.

Since the advent of the Schrade SCHF42 I've given my attention to this knife company. I was aware of their knives but not interested. That has now changed particularly having watched Chris Tanner's review of the SCHF42 at Preparedmind 101. In watching this video - Wingman115 - it is the SCHF51M that most interests me. It's a handsome blade. It is the micarta that is so eye catching. Here are two blades I have to have: the SCHF42 and SCHF51M. Let me add that, as an avid viewer of many YT channels that give focus to knives, I'm most impressed with Mr. Chris Tanner. This guy's passion for knives and for what he does, generally, does not escape the notice of viewers like me. I like his knife designs a lot. He's very good.

Badass blades for sure! The use of 1095 and Micarta makes me think they'll be a top contender to the ESEE line of knives. I can't wait till they're available, I'm definitely picking all of them up. Thank you Wingman for the teaser. Be well my friend.

I WANT Jessica-X! I don't have any idea about what I'm ever going to do with it, but I want it anyway. I'm really glad to see that Schrade dumped the jimping and recontoured the handle scales. That was my big complaint with those knives. The handles just sucked, but some Wilson tennis racket wrap helped solve the problem.
@Wingman1159 жыл бұрын
The TPE handle material is used on a lot of their blades and works really well.
@futuresonex9 жыл бұрын
***** The material is fine. It's all the jimping that made those handles so uncomfortable to use.

Hey pal! Just found your videos about a week ago and I'm loving the 2016 line up for Schrade. I've got my eye on the SCH52, and the wait for it to release is brutal. Any idea when these will start hitting the stores? Also I've got a question - I like the look of the Micarta, but I've never used a knife with this handle material before. How do the two grips compare, for example, if they get wet? Do you recommend one material over the other? I tend to need very 'grippy' handles.. Thanks

Say Heah Joh, I like supporting Chris and You, because you guys bring alot of good stuff to our community's table. I can see the similarity of his new Jessica X especially the blade profile it's almost like the BK-9 (Jessica), and I think the BK-9 is a great knife, infact I paired my BK-9 with my BK-10 a great combo, and I think the handle of the new Jessica X will help to make it a great chopper it also reminds me what I thought of the Espada XL by Cold Steel I said Yikes what's with that large handle will anybody want that in their pocket, yet it sells even though it's a bit much for me, as I'm posting, I'm thinking if only it was just a little smaller handle, I like that Spartan look, and I know it will stay in your hand and won't fly away, the angle is good for a chopper, but if it was just a bit smaller, then I wonder why Chris went with the 1070 when he has so much success with the 1095 CroVan with his Jessica, I also like that 1095 CroVan and because of that and Chris I almost have all of that line, maybe it's because of my summer theme and that's compact, for our Ohio brambles, my long knife I chose is the Swamp Rat Rucki, awesone long knife, but for my camp knife I had the Rodent 6 modded, I had it thinned down and the top gaurd taken off and now it look's like a beefy Ratmandu on steriods which the Ratmandu was always and still is one of my Fav's, but now my new Modde Rodent 6 is slowly taking it's place, then my 2Hawks Double Bit Hatchet is becoming my chopper, compact and I can person carry it with N/P, and my Wicked Tough Saw made by Wicked Tree Gear became my saw of choice and beat out the Bacho Laplander for that spot, maybe it will take time for me to get use to that large handle just like it did with that large Espada folder, I dunno, but I wish Chris all the luck, and I support him for the reasons I mentioned, but right now I wish he would of used the 1095 CroVan and a little smaller handle, but what do I know, I wish him the best, Have a Safe, Happy 4th of July John.

I agree, the 43 is a total joke. If you need a parang, axe or a boomerang just buy them. It's a poor substitute for all 3. A friend pulled one out on an annual hike. It actually came with a shoulder harness which we all suspected was also for his man boobs....

Why is the Jessica X knife made from 1070? I hope it isn't to reduce manufacturing costs; 1095 is not an expensive steel. I see that those knives still have some of that pain inducing jimping. Hey Schrade, just get rid of the jimping altogether. it is unnecessary. These new "bushcraft" models are essentially carbon copies of previous "bushcraft" models. Why release new models instead of just fixing previous designs? These aren't really bushcraft knives anyway, they are survival knives. Why doesn't Schrade make a Kephart or Nessmuk in 1095, those are examples of bushcraft knives. Doesn't Schrade realize the business they are missing out on? Why is it that only large 1/4 inch thick blades are made from 1095 and smaller thinner blades they always make from that cheap stainless?
@Wingman1159 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure why they chose that material. Maybe Chris can answer that.
