I own a Ciaz Alpha Petrol Manual. Its a beauty. At this price point i would say its a bang for the buck. No questions asked. Obviously you have more features in the Verna (but its smaller than ciaz) and its top model is dearer by 3 lacs compared to ciaz. 3 lacs! Thats a lot. I bought this as my parents can sit like a boss in the back seat, and we need not leave any luggage behind.

If you are talking about Chassis and frame strength in regards to safety during Crash then it has 4 star safety rating. But it still has thin outer metal sheet to lower overall body weight.

The Li-ion battery is there only for the idle start-stop system. It does NOT "assist" when you are accelerating. For providing "assistance", the car has to either have an electric motor to [partially] drive the wheels or have a complex hybrid setup like a hybrid car (eg Prius). None of that happens here. It's there only to get tax benefits from Indian Govt without providing a full hybrid system.

honestkiller07 This is not a hybrid car. Its deceit on part of the company. It is just a start stop technology which cannot even move the vehicle an inch or even run the AC properly. And these reviewers just read it out of the company brochure. The AT is not good on this car. Just 4 speeds whereas others are providing at least 6(Verna) and some even 7( city, Yaris, Vento, ....). My advice either spend some more money and go for others or spend some less and buy a compact sedan such as Amaze.

If you are looking at petrol variants ... It's a toss-up between Ciaz MT & City MT. (Whoever loves performance will go for Honda City and whoever loves comfort, space & plush ride will go for Ciaz. Overall efficiency is even between City & Ciaz MT with slight edge to Ciaz. Honda City does feel more premium inside out) Ciaz AT is not worth it.

Well, its essentially serving the market what it wants. Safety is extremely important, but it isn't unfortunately the priority for the majority. A product like the Yaris gets out of reach for the majority owing to the additional features. Delivering what's demanded, is important too. From that perspective it's a well rounded package

am also looking for a sedan, and have test driven City, Verna, Yaris. In my opinion, City's drive is best with Verna close second and they come with good safety & "real" convenience features. If you are willing to compromise on safety & performance, and only mileage, lower price is your priority, then only Ciaz fits in. Test drive these cars, and difference will come out loud.

A Verna petrol 1.6 sx has everything this new Ciaz Alpha model has in terms of features and has a powerful engine. Also both are same in price range as well . So I guess your comparison with 1.4 Verna was a bit off.

Thanks for the comment, brother. The Verna SX is about 60K more expensive ex showroom, even more, on the road. The 1.4 comparison was added as the only model worth its salt to probably come close to the Ciaz's price.
