Picked mine up last week and it’s pretty epic. Apparently they are pushing out 340bhp + on the dyno as standard !! It’s a superb drive and the only moan is the cheaper plastic now used on some of the interior.

It's actually much quicker than 4.8 to 62. Someone recorded it on Dragy about 3 times continuously doing it between 4.3-4.4

Great review. I know what you mean about buying an S3 but always thinking of the RS3! Having had both now the feeling that the RS3 gives you is worth the extra IMO, however the S3 isn’t much slower in the real world and a brilliant package.

Mark, I am the same as yourself, I’ve been lucky enough to own both. I test drove the new S3 at the weekend and found myself comparing it to my previous RS3. That aside, the S3 is much better value for money and a better ‘day to day’ car. I just found that my RS3 was a perfect advertisement for someone to break into my house 😂 I always said I’d only go back to an S3, not the RS3 for feasibility.

@@rl6783 interesting, think I’ll book a test drive in the new S3 although I plan to keep hold of the RS3 for a while as it’s such a great car. Thankfully not much car crime where I live but I understand that the RS cars are always the car thieves choice!! The new RS3 will just be a bit too expensive I think so the S3 is sure to be the better value option, but that 5 pot is just an amazing engine.

nice you mentioned your girlfriends A1. I am currently owning an A1 and my S3 is in the making. but i agree: the A1 and S3 interior are pretty similar. the only noticable differences are: 1) S3 Urus air vents 2) climate controls 3) ambient lightning other than that the S3 has some more nice advances like 360 camera, adaptive dampers, sunroof, head-up display, quatto and ofc its quickness. And i like the exterior design of the S3. can't wait for the day i can pick'm up!

And now I’m running 500bhp and getting 3.2s which is as fast as a lambo, nothing gaps me, and I beat most things, you clearly have an S3 and that’s fine, I had one when I was 17 and it was fun, but the 5 cylinder is a beautiful engine hence why it has won engine of the year multiple times. Not even worth the debate. S3 is nothing compared to a RS3 and you’re deluded if you think it is. My RS3 pulls at any range, it’s a BEAST. Thank you and don’t reply because it’s getting embarrassing

Car manufacturers are churning out newer models like mobile phones, making cars faster, more powerful and less characterful whilst charging a premium. The interior is exquisitely executed by Audi but to pay £47k for a hatch back that Audi will replace with the next iteration in a few months as a facelift is impossible for me to contemplate. Excellent review!

Let's be honest about all these types of hot hatchback we're all gonna want close to the top spec cars and they'll all come in at well over 40k, I've spec a m135i and it comes in at 44k so I can imagine this and its rivals with similar spec would cost the same maybe more. Coming from a m140i I totally get the four wheel drive system especially here in the UK where weather can be challenging. My car is more powerful than all these types of hot hatchback but in weather conditions such as in the video my RWD car might as well be a a basic entry level 1 series and hence my choice to change. Great revue

It is not permanent AWD, nor a Quattro system. It is a Haldex system which is front wheel drive until is starts losing grip at the front, then starts sending some of the power to the rear.

All Audi AWD systems are called Quattro, whether Haldex or Torsen. It is a brand name for AWD, as is Xdrive for BMW, etc for other manufacturers.

Stef, its amazing what VW can do with the Golf! After all, this is a very dressed up Golf model. They charge a fortune more for this upgraded VW. Personally, I'd simply recommend a 2 yr old GTi model, a buyer would save thousands of dollars and still basically own the same vehicle as this. Less a few horses and leather trim.

@@StefABtv It doesn't have AWD (here in the states) but otherwise, you are getting the same car as the S3. I might add, don't get me wrong, I'd prefer the S3 over the GTi model....but I wouldn't pay the difference in price to get basically the same car, made by the same company etc.

Good content. I have one on order in the same colour. As I don't like the red. You don't see many in red. The black pack can only be had if you have the vorsprung package. Which is 5/6 grand more

Not enough ‘evolving’ for me. We had the last S3 model, can’t really see much difference, not enough to spend base price of £36k+. Soooo glad we bought the M135i instead 😃. Just my opinion though. Nothing wrong with the car, and fair review as always, just no longer my cup of tea 😏

I haven’t driven either, but I had the previous generation M140. People didn’t seem keen on the look of the new M135 at first, but I actually think it beats the competition now. I was worried at first with it losing its trump cards RWD and 6 cyl, but they seem to have done a great job and have the A35 and S3 beaten in my opinion. Will be interesting to see what the Golf R is like but VW isn’t quite up there as a brand with Merc, BMW and Audi.

I also had a 66 plate S3. Did 107k miles in 3 years in it. Loved it although its rear diff ate its self and took a month and several thousand pounds to replace. As for the 135.......I'm sorry, it's got a face I could never love..

I think this has a Haldex system doesn't it? If I remember this isn't a permanent AWD system, my A4 Quattro is permanent which was a different system to the A3's Haldex...unless things have now changed.

what i like more on the S3 over the RS3 is the looks. imo the S3 looks better from both front and back angle. The RS3 grill is a bit too much in-your-face for my taste. and on the back it has a bit too much plastic fakery. I also prefer the gorgious quad-exhaust over the 2 oval RS3 ones. With the RS3 i would also feel abit more uncomfortable going to my clients. I'd had the feeling they'd look at me like: 'ahh ok, we hired a road-bully'. The S3 is more neutral and nicely still quik.

It’s a weird thing with this car for me. The first time i saw it i thought it looked good but the more i look at it and i see them on the road I think they look bad in every way. Too much overstyling and too big headlights. Overall this looks like a much cheaper car to me like the new mk8 golf
