I like it Lee. My paisano said I needed some smaller knives in my life 🤮 and handed me a civivi box …but I like it . It sounds great and has a nice ez flick any which way but loose that sucker is flying out fast . The button gets less sticky with break in

I like button locks. I have the Cogent, but this ones to small for me. That's just me..I know many people either like or have legal reasons for 3" or under blades. It's good that there are many different options so something for everyone.

They’re making something bigger and nicer. Looks like a Ferrum forge design button lock. Can’t wait. Then they are doing a new run of the we malice in a button lock. Ugh need it now

For me it's both-- I definitely prefer blades at 3 inches or so, but also can only legally carry 3" or under.

That knife is gorgeous! At $90 before discount code, it's a little more than I'm wanting to spend on a Civivi, but there's a more reasonably priced burgundy G10 and black coated varient, that looks great as well. I'll probably be picking it up once available.

It was between this knife and the Cogent. One thing about a flipper is that it adds a little more barrier between your finger and the blade, and I really like my fingers. That ended up being my first decent quality knife (I’ve been keeping a crummy Home Depot utility knife in the car for when I need a blade, but it’s stiff as heck and too clunky to carry), but down the line I might get the Altus with the wood scales just for the pretty.

The black ti milled civivi clip only went with the one t6 og screw so I did the same thing I did with the praxis which is score the outline and take it down level 1/16” and that was enough . Score twice with a new utility blade or exacto , once to start with the og t6 holding it in place . And once again lightly at the end using the back of the utility blade and tip as a chisel . Yeah , now every civivi get s a milled clip and I just like it , no reason to do it except for looks . So far they will go right on an odium , riffle , copper dogma , praxis and altus but not specifically for but if someone has the longer screws no probs . I do prefer the 1/16” inset to keep it squared up .

I loooove Civivi. For over a decade I’d only buy Spyderco. My uncle who was in the Navy convinced me as a kid they were the best of the best and it stuck. I’ll always love the Endura, timeless design. But.. was sick of how they opened. I’ve never been good at any variations of the Spidey flick. Civivi knives are made so damn well, and solid. I’m kinda bummed I just spent like $170 on a ZDP189 Endura and I prefer a $60 Civivi in every aspect..🤔

I really like the button lock knives and I own a few such as the Protech Mordax ,CRKT BT Fighter, Spyderco Smock. I like this knife but it's just a little too small for me. I'm looking forward to the next one that Civivi is coming out with.

Beautiful version of the Altus and brilliant review my friend! ..One question - I'm new to button locks and just got my Altus and it 'bounces' out of position if you know what I mean?? When I flick it to open, it (very often) opens all the way as to bounce back to a half-opened position. Same when I flick to close it - it swings closed but bounces back out. You don't seem to have that trouble at all!!?? Is it just my technique and a matter of practice or is the pivot too loose do you think??

Importing a knife with longer than 6cm blade to South Korea cost extra $200. So I was looking for the perfect knife that will justify the extra burden. For me, a perfect knife would have button lock and thumbstud opening. Not OTF though. So far this knife is the only option but I don't want to spend that extra price on this knife. I hope Protech make a thumbstud version Malibu.

The G10/Wood versions might be just the ticket. This version not so much, check the area under scales around the pivot & the pattern disappears = doubt it's "110 layer damascus steel" - more like a $20 knife & not a $90 knife.

Not a Damascus steel expert but from watching forged in fire you can't see the Damascus pattern in the areas it's not acid etched. Please correct me if I am wrong I am pretty interested in this knife lol

@@chrisbinder2580 I'm no expert either (same source of knowledge - lol) but the acid etching is present under the scales but there is no pattern. The pattern just simply stops while the coloring shows. There's a pic on Amazon. Also the pattern should still be present, though not all that visible - I checked with magnification & didn't see any pattern = I'm very skeptical & sent the knife back. I imagine the plain D2 version is the better choice.

80 isnt so bad if you look at the other button locks on the market. boker, hogue, pro-tech are $150-$600+ i use a rat 2 on weekends and a milwaukee fastback compact at work. no joke i love the button lock on the fastback but i use it for than anything...so i might be biased.

I am disappointed. I like civivi's buttonlock only mechanism that has liner flat spring and no thumb studs nor flipper so clean profile blades.
