Monster High for me has definitely lost it’s Gothic edge, which is disappointing considering that is the reason why a lot of people collect the dolls, because they were edgy, and dark and spooky. Where as now they just look like a barbie Halloween party collection. Yes, they are aimed for kids and I understand that, but the edginess of the dolls gained the attention of adults, and older teens as well because they didn’t feel childish like the dolls on the shelves at that time. I will always be a Gen 1 collector, but I do have to say the different body types and articulation has definitely sparked my attention for Gen 3. Just hoping and praying that Gen 3 will release some more sets or similarities to Gen 1, and also hoping that they don’t go to much down the colourful route considering that doll lines like Rainbow high, mermaid high etc. are very bright and have definitely took the doll community by a storm!

I like the G3 bodies and faces but I think the styling on G1 was edgier, more unique and I liked that more... I think that's what made MH stand out from other doll lines and it's kinda gone now but overall I'm not disapointed at all with the dolls... the artwork tho, THAT'S gonna take a while for me to get used to

This new G3 line is what got me collecting Monster High dolls. I like them so much more than the older dolls. I've never collected dolls before, I have like 3 Disney Store dolls but I typically collect movie figures and blu rays. I fell in love with this line and I'm glad to see so many adult male collectors on line! Great video! I look forward to seeing more of your reviews. I bought Frankie, Draculaura and Clawdeen over the weekend and picked up Abbie, Cleo and Ghoulia yesterday. That's how hooked I became.

It's not a bad doll but it's definitely different. No stand is always a negative. Having a doll posed and holding all of her accessories gives it personality. Their look is a little boring honestly. The top is amazing though! Hoping for more spooky takes and lines for G3's future. Colors are nice and bright , Leg is awesome and it's definitely more inclusive to consider her as they/them! P.s I think the plain shoes are here to stay, I'll definitely miss how detained monster high shoes used to be. P.ss The style reminds me of Fail Fix/Cave club/Wild Hearts Crew

I've seen that (at least for Cleo) if the fabric is stretchy enough old clothes will fit on these dolls- so I'm definitely going to be playing with the wardrobe. And Rainbow High shoes fit the dolls so if you own them, or can get them cheap, then it's definitely a great addition!

This isn't meant as an argument against you personally, but I have to disagree with the notion that G1 fans were made happy with creeproductions and especially that people had the chance to get them - from what I gather, they were kinda hard to find even in the US (and many of them were snatched by scalpers), and us international fans didn't get a damn. That, of course, doesn't mean Mattel should change the G3 designs, but if they want to claim that older fans have been served, they need to fix their distribution schemes. I'm definitely one of those people who miss the dark, edgier aesthetic of the older dolls, it's not like the market is overwhelmed with dark edgy dolls and suffering from the lack of cutesy colorful ones, but I can still appreciate these dolls for what they are, and I hope the line will do well. Your review was lovely, as always.

This is also the first release, there may be plenty if lines in the future if they sell well. The first line is going for a more modern alt fashion vibe, but they might drift away from it as the line continues.

I'm excited to see Monster High to be on shelves again!! Although it's not a revival of the original I still like it and plan on buying them. Also, I'm loving Frankie's new leg. They are so cute! I love the pop of color. Frankie had a tendency to be a tad muted, while wearing rather racy fashions. This one is definetly brighter and more junior. So cool - wow. I feel that G3 is better suited for kids play- it also complement their portfolio well. I guess I think 2022 monster high has a better chance to grow and give us even more detailed dolls than if they kept the G1 characters/molds.

I think g3 Frankie is very cute! Definitely going to get them and Draculaura! I’m very confused as to why people are perceiving the g3 outfit materials to be “bad quality,” especially in comparison to the original g1 fabric choices which weren’t exactly the height of quality at the time either, even if the unique aesthetic made up for it… It’s totally valid to say you don’t like the new gen because it’s too different from what you liked about the original, but to say that it’s objectively worse quality is pretty silly, in my opinion.

I like the new dolls. The only complaint I have would be Clawdeen, but just because she stands out so much. (Idk why, but her eyes seem just gigantic) But even Clawdeen looks great otherwise. The thing is, many people complain about the new generation that they look so "normal" now, but I feel like people don't realize that what they're doing now is not much different than what they did back then. The G1 dolls were literally based on late 2000's/early 2010's fashion, I mean, obviously they were. They needed to appeal to the audience and didn't just make them wear princess dresses and such. Just looking at Ghoulia alone: She literally screams late 2000's/early 2010's fashion, or all the low waisted skirts. What they do now is just early 2020's fashion. Which is fine. It's still alt fashion what they're doing, its not like your average person would walk around in such clothes. I mean yeah, I would like it if they would still include goth fashion in their dolls but it's not like the fashion the dolls have now are boring. (Like. Cleo is literally wearing bandages. Even her boots are bandages) And: It's gotta appeal to the kids. Not to us collectors because even if we all would love the dolls, if the kids don't want em its over anyway.

i don’t entirely agree with the point about the fashion difference between now and then, only because y2k fashion is very popular right now with young adults and teens. that being said, your last point makes my only disagreement with what you said pretty much irrelevant. as much as i would LOVE to have the old monster high back (to a certain extent, at least) i know that the dolls aren’t really for the adult fans like myself. i would definitely love more goth/punk vibes for the series and the doll line, but overall i liked the dolls much more than i expected to. i enjoyed reading what you had to say about the MH reboot and i hope my ramble wasn’t too boring haha!

@@CrunchCrunchCrunchyCrunch totally, plus all the arguing in the fandom over what’s good and bad about the new series (and movie) is probably going to give it tons of attention when it all comes out later this year. as much as i’m not a fan of arguing for the sake of arguing, i’m sure this will help the dolls and the G3 line become popular enough that young kids may watch it just to see what the fuss is about. on top of that, the people who want to make reviews (and arguments lol) about the new dolls and series will help the popularity of G3 propel itself into the mainstream even more! it’s ironic that sometimes any internet attention, even negative, is just free advertising. that being said, i hope the new generation is successful (for reasons *other* than just negative attention) so that another generation of kids can enjoy something similar to the MH we knew and loved. am i salty over some of the changes? absolutely. do i wish certain things were done differently? of course. “…but do i wish they never tried to reboot it,” is the question i’ve been having a hard time answering as the news has been coming out slowly over the last few weeks or so. i started out being upset and bitter about it, and slowly realized that this wasn’t the end of my childhood or something dramatic like that. this is a whole new beginning for the same old ghouls that gave me so much passion for dolls and character design, two things that i couldn’t imagine growing up without. seeing how pretty the dolls ended up helped remind me that Monster High isn’t going anywhere. even if they didn’t keep doing creeproduction dolls for collectors, knowing that the new dolls aren’t any less cute is a huge plus! i’m sure this ended up longer than my other response, but i’m very excited to see the future of MH!

I know this is gonna sound like blasphemy or something, but I love the G3 dolls almost as much as I loved the G1 dolls. Yes, they're different, absolutely not the same dolls, but for me, it doesn't matter, because I feel like my preference for fashion styles and colors have sort of changed after all these years too. I still own some of the original G1 dolls and I hold them near and dear to my heart, but...I 100% see myself picking these up along the line. I don't know, maybe I just have a weird sense of nostalgia for these old characters and seeing them with a new flavor is exciting or something. I really hope they do characters like Spectra, Nephera, Operetta...Deuce Gorgon, Heath Burns, and Clawd Wolf. I'm really excited to see how far this line will go!

Where will they be available October first?? I had the WORST time finding the first reboot dolls at Walmart! I went to MULTIPLE locations and never found them, and then they increased the prices online to order them. If Mattel wants this re-launch to be successful they need to make them easier to find.

As a fervent Cave Club fan who was so heart broken to see them discontinued I really can't muster any sympathy *at all* for all the Monster High fans who are whining about this new line not being what they want. At least you got a really long run for your favorite doll line and all those dolls are still out there on the second hand market for you to track down. The only doll line I've been really truly excited for maybe ever got canceled after just a couple releases, so excuse me while I play my tiny violin for y'all. Personally, I'm genuinely so excited for this release. I love the new designs and the new feel for the whole line. For the first time ever I'm really considering buying some Monster High dolls so I'm thrilled.

I just dont like the neck/head proportions it looks like they have no neck or as I have seen others say look as if their head is pushed to far down. I am also not a big fan of the blush. This is what I somewhat expected from G3 far better than G2 but similar enough to G1 that you can make connections of course G1 will forever be my favourite.

The doll is cute and I definitely want to get her and the other g3 dolls but are they anywhere close to the beauty of the originals? Absolutely not. Also once again no stands. I know that's a very minor thing and not every doll brand & line comes with them but it just is another thing lacking in my mind especially when we know they have the molds to make them between the og monster high stands and the different stands they make for Barbie signature considering these dolls do seem a bit thicker in the waste than the ogs. For me it just takes away because it means an added cost of collecting them in addition to whatever their price point may be.

Idk, it's the second doll in the G3 that, upon seeing it, makes me think of cheap ripoffs that were everywhere back in the day of G1. I definitely was someone who hated the reboot I’m still pissed about Lagoona and I’m gonna stay that way since she was the character I most connected with and collect all her stuff. That’s not saying I don’t think her doll is adorable and I AM getting her as I collect not just Lagoona but all the water monsters. I just hope they webb her damn hands before releasing her she doesn’t have webbed hands on the coffinbean set box. That aside I still don’t see me buying Clawdeen her shoes are adorable though I’m just not vibing with her I may buy her if I found her discounted somewhere. Cleo is ok. Probably same as she is my least favorite character. Draculaura I’m getting with Lagoona I already pre ordered both. Frankie I like her. I only own 5 Frankie dolls but I like this one.
