The 1969 Honda CB 750 changed motorcycles. Never underestimate The CB 750! Don't even be negative about it until you've tried it with the Akrapovic exhaust!

This new CB750 is a VERY different bike to the old models, it's gonna be a very different vibe. This new CB750 Hornet is a parallel twin with a 270-degree crank much like the Yamaha MT07.

Hornet does look like a great option. It is def exciting to see more options finally come out in the segment Yamaha has been dominating for years now. I'd def go look at one for the sole reason its different and there are already so many MT-07s on the street. Will be curious to see how the Suzuki 8s stacks up against the MT-07 and the Hornet when they all have a pipe and tune. Stock tunes on all these new bikes seem to be horrible across the board.

Technically, cable throttles only matter on a carb. Fuel injection is still based off of electrical inputs and outputs.

I just bought a CB750 Hornet a month ago, i was about to buy a new MT07, blue, but after watching a lot of reviews i reached the conclusion that the Hornet is better in everything. Well i never tried a MT07 even, is it more fun? I doubt it, but i bet that the MT07 is a very good bike as well. I get a promotion in Honda, free documentartion and insurance until the end of March, that was the deal braker for me. Right now i don't regret at all for getting the Hornet.. Looks better in person, the MT07 looks great for me as well but the Hornet just looks more mature. Waiting for your review in the Hornet, we will see if u like it or not...

Hondas are vanilla but they aren't Kroger vanilla, they're Haagen-Dazs Vanilla and people eat that shyte up! I saw a review of the CB and the throttle response was said to be the typical ride by wire sketchy abrupt on-off transition we don't like. I don't like it on my mt so I may send off the box and get it flashed but I do like all the electronic rider aids as long as ABS isn't too intrusive. I'm certain I can stop my bike in shorter distance without ABS in most situations.

Just traded in my GSX-R1000 for two 2023 MT-07’s (one for the missus too). I was smiling the whole time when test riding the MT last fall. Comfortable, fun, and generally ticking all the right boxes for what I need.

I would get the MT07, the CB750, and the Z650 without hesitation. I love the look of the CB750 more than the MT07. The GSX-S750 doesn't look so good to me though, and never did. More similar in category would be the new GSX-8S. I would likely be happy with any one of them. Do a review on the GSX-8S!!!

Ordered a Hornet, wife has an mt07 which I love, I've got a Tracer 700 gt which I don't like ( screen's noisy, seat's higher, feels top heavy, just not fun to ride). Test rode the Hornet, I'd say bottom end is pretty much like the mt07, mid range between 3 and 4k rpm is a bit weaker, but there's obviously a much better top end rush. Honda build quality, electronic aids ( whether you think necessary or not), phone connectivity is definitely a plus. So it all add up to a great package for the price . Mine being £7,800 with quick shifter, screen and tank bag. I reckon the 2nd lot to arrive will be closer to £8k bog standard. Having said all that.... I think the mt07 looks nicer to be fair.

Had one before. Best upgrade I did was the R6 throttle tube. Made rev matching 100x better.

It simply quickens the cable-pull ratio based on twist angle at the grip. This is what throttle by wire also accomplishes with far more precision. Trouble is, up until recently the throttle tube, spring tension, grip drag didn't feel natural. Yamaha has completely fixed that with the '22 MT-09 whereas before it felt like hot metal on ice, just skimmed along the handlebar tube and felt very disconnected, on top of the wild calibration they gave it (ECU flashes fixed calibration but the grip itself was hot steel on ice). New version addressed the feel, they made it much more natural at the grip and the calibration is much better (ECU flashes of course improve everything on any bike, no matter what). Emissions and noise regs take a perfectly tuned bike and make it have to run 50% less optimal. I hate it.

I am an experienced rider over 15 years and I am a BIG guy 275lbs 5'10 I think the MT-07 will be too small for my big ass especially with the soft suspension. Should I get the MT-07 or MT-09 ? I’ve got to call out motorcycle riders and press now. Because what y’all have done is force every manufacturer to give us almost identical bikes. For a amazing period we had insane levels of diversity for modern automotive manufacturing standards. We had inline 4 options, inline triples, parallel twins, and v-twins!!!! All on the market at the same time in the same segment. You’ll be crying for the return to this abundance of choice when all we have is P-twins in every segment

I have never seen and MT-07 go 133 MPH mine only did 119 with Puig windscreen.. Now I have a larger wind screen that slows it down more.. I most always have side cases and a top case too.. I might gain a little more MPH if I take the luggage off ..

Yamaha’s are so light because they use the cheapest possible material, material weight, material thickness etc in every single area. They aren’t doing that for you and me. They’re doing that to maximize profits. When aprillia goes through a bike and gets it’s weight down using exotic materials…that’s worth praising. When Yamaha just shaves everything down and makes everything plastic they possible can…not so much. As for top speed, that’s all gearing, tuning, etc…and often artificially limited for emissions & other reasons. I love the MT-07 and think the hornet might actually be uglier somehow…I’ll decide for sure in person…but the Hondas feels more solid/premium in every way…and they don’t use little plastic covers over their frame’s as an excuse to leave the frame and structural supports unfinished and scrawny looking

1 thing stopped me.. aftermarket support. Buying a brand new bike with no exhaust options sucks. + if i drop or loop my bike, there are tonns of used cheap replacement parts for the mt.. and i weigh around 125 lbs. so my weight on the mt07 makes up for someone else on a hornet woth more ponies and a bigger body ;)

Traction control is high speed modulation of the ABS system when you lose traction in a corner. I don't think electronic throttle is needed for that, and I don't think you can duplicate that with "your throttle hand."

Heye man. You was mentioning Honda new 750 engine. But Honda was making nc750 . I know it is automatic engine and around 55hp, but they have 750 ccm engine years. I don’t think it will be any problem with that engine. But , we will see. Mt07 is one of my favourite bike , sv650 as well, because I was a owner of a Sv650n 2000. I’m can’t wait to see the new hornet and suzuki gsx8 as well. But Suzuki is over 200kg. Anyway it is exiting to see this new bikes.

Loved my FZ07. Still love my FZ09. If my FZ07 had horsepower closer to that of my FZ09 I would've kept, because I love 270 twins. The new Hornet looks like it's aimed squarely at the 07 owners that want a bit more power, and I'd say there are a LOT of those folks out there.

From what I understand the gearing/power band torque is in the far upper end of the rpm range. So to get the bump you have to be in the higher end of the band. So past third gear, you have to be in felony range speed before you get the punch. This is from what I have read only, but won't skip out test driving for sure, and the wife would lock me out if I hated on Honda with her 2022 Rebel in the garage!

The MT-07 has so much engine braking because the fuel gets shut off when you close the throttle that you can skid the rear wheel when you downshift....

Is the MT07 really a beginner bike, though? Most of the reviews I've read/watched are mixed with most leaning towards "no." Also, what makes a 650cc bike appropriate for beginners? The SV650 and CB650R are generally said to be okay, while the Z650 and MT07 are not. I find that especially amazing b/c the CB650R has like 80 hp, and it's okay, while the Z650 only has around 67 hp, and it isn't. Can anyone clarify or at least share your perspective?

@@CycleCruza '22 fixed the chassis on the -09. If you ever get a chance, you owe it to yourself to test ride the new 890cc if nothing else, just for the experience on contrast. It's so much different, so much better, you literally notice it before leaving the parking lot.

Using "fun factor" as the yardstick for comparison Yamaha 689 CP2 equipped bikes are pretty tough to beat. The Hornet's specs. look impressive and likely will be a better overall bike but it, the new Suzuki or any other potential competitor will have to prove themselves to win the "most fun" award. Hoping for the best 2023 will give us several super fun low end torque rich 270° middle weight twin options. That would also make getting your hands on a MT07 (not that easy in 2022) a little easier if for whatever reason (price, dealer, looks, brand....) your decide that's the bike you like most!

You are right @cyclecruza. Watched MCN’s ‘Nev’ after they test rode this new cb750. He also didn’t rate it very much IMO. He says the throttle is a bit sketchy and the bike didn’t feel planted on the road as an MT07 . To add my 2 cents, the MT07 has more accessories to customise your bike to your own preferences- even a turbo kit 😝

The Cb750 should be great but you can’t beat the new MT09 almost as light as the MT07 lighter than the Honda but more torque and power. However, it’s worth talking about top speed on a naked bike.

Yeah, but you can red line a Honda engine all day long everyday and 20 years later that engine is functioning perfectly. If you do that with a Yamaha, a Suzuki or Kawasaki good luck having a working engine 2 years after you bought the bike. Hondas last forever no matter how you treat them but Yamahas look, ride and feel like they were a bike project you set up in your backyard.

Shorter gearing, lower top speed. Doesn’t really matter on these bikes though, it’ll take forever to get it fully topped out anyway. I love my XSR700. It’s a fun bike. Electronics are nice for a safety feature in the rain but Hondas are boring. They are like gingers, they have no souls! Plus that CP2 sound oh baby!!! Let’s go for a riiiide!

If I wanted to get a Honda naked that competes with the mt07 then I'd pick the CB650 over the Hornet because I think it looks better, but if I'd pick a Honda naked all together I'd pick the Cb1000r because it's the only naked from Honda that looks good AND performs like a beast. I don't like the Hornet, looks like an average naked bike, it's less interesting than the Suzuki SV650, and that is a pretty low bar already. As for Yamaha I don't like the Mt07 especially the current gen Mt07 and mt09. I liked your previosue gen MT09 (still sad you sold it lol) and the previous gen MT10.

The reason why I like my 2022 MT-07 is because its simple! pretty much a supermoto with street tires. Not a big fan of Hondas. Like you said there, very vanilla. Just because there going to make them a bit better on paper doesn't mean there more fun to ride. To be honest I'm not a big fan of how the Honda looks like! nothing that excites me about it.

I agree with not trusting Honda for making a fun parallel twin…unless they somehow make the specs on paper a total lie it looks like solid competition. Triumph had the best fueling in existence usually and that’s all on ride by wire so it’s impossible to say without trying. So I don’t trust Honda but I also don’t trust you telling me you recommend the my-07 over a bike you’ve never ride.

Kind of wish the color scheme and headlight...would match the name, look like a hornet. My TU250X baby bike has dual throttle butterfly valves, one valve is operated by ECU; with a sensor or transducer there is no need for always fly by wire, they could give both if they wanted to.
