Love the looks of this bike, mine is arriving on the 10th March. I don’t know why but everyone I talk to thought I would go for a retro looking bike, maybe because I’m 70 but they are all going down the retro route and I fancied something different from that. Plus I’m not old enough yet to stop being a hooligan 😂

I test rode the Hornet for two hours last Monday and was really impressed, I was considering one as my commuter but it's so much more than that, the best compliment I can pay it is that IMO it's like an MT-07 that handles, with better finish and laden with electronics, it's not quite up to the finish of the Trident but overall a great value bike.

It would appear that your first comment was from a moron., there are plenty about. Thanks for the review. Did you find the steering too responsive? I'm looking to trade in my CB650R, because I don't want to have to bother with MOTs, and I can see the advantages of this bike, especially the price. But, the lack of a rear hugger and the notional front mudguard worry me a bit. For a naked bike, the CB is fine in rain and my back isn't covered. Thanks for the vid and safe riding.
@redangrevival Жыл бұрын
Haha yes unfortunately seems so! Not the most insightful comment. It is my pleasure and really glad you enjoyed the vid 👍 No I did not find the steering too responsive, just on the right side of agile and nimble feeling, but still planted. That 160 section rear tyre really helps the bike to feel great through the corners. Overall am very impressed with the bike and think could be a good substitute to your CB650R. Perhaps not as good looking though. I suppose would need a bad weather ride to see what the elements protection is like. Cheers

Good review, thanks. Honda are aiming to knock Yamaha’s MT-07 from its perch; I’d say they’ve succeeded with aplomb. If I were to buy one, and I wouldn’t, it would be the dark grey/black frame option. Also the rear shock isn’t up to the chassis quality but that could be rectified without too much cost after some time owning it. @@micuna5743 I hear what you are saying but in AU the CBR650R only comes in 48HP A2 guise. IMO the only thing 'R' about the CBR650R is the name. It's more tourer than sport and definitely not quasi supersport in nature or design, unlike the R7 or RS660. The Honda CBR650R has more in common with the Kawasaki Ninja 650 than the 2 aforementioned bikes. Even the lowly CBR500R looks 100% more like a supersport than the CBR650R. 4 cylinders are good but for real world road riding give me the torque shove of a twin (v-twin or 270 crank parallel twin) any day. More is not always better when it comes to cylinders. Riding a peaky bike that doesn't come alive until 8000rpm sounds and feels amazing...when you can get there legally, but for me is tiresome and frustrating the other 90% of the time.

Sv650 is a cracking bike. It’s had a long life for good reason. I had one, 2019 model, part ex’d it and regret it. New bike is great, but just wished I had kept the SV as well.

A peppy little thing this Hornet, nice to see you soaking your underwear over it! 😂 The colour scheme is not my cup of tea but as a KTM rider, who am I to judge, right? 😉 I wonder if Honda is going to introduce a DCT version of this bike in the future. Solid review, as always! Cheers, Lupo

Hi Lupo, 😂 I was really surprised by this bike! Thought it may just be another boring middle weight naked, but oh no! It is a fantastic bike. Haha yes KTM owners don't have much of a position to judge on looks 🥴 Cheers

Hornet is in a different class being a 750cc as Trident 660 is in 650class & Mt O7 is 689cc so a odd ball out but in the 650 class I guess.Hornet is bigger displacement & also makes a heap of HP more than 650-689cc & the Triumph 765cc is more it's class. Value for money is great on Hornet & the Honda GB 750 modern retro coming out later is the better looking bike.
@ruahinesrider Жыл бұрын
CF moto 700 & Suzuki GS8S 800cc(777cc) & Triumph 765 & Hornet 750 are in the same class the 700cc to 79Occ. Hornet 750 in the 650-690cc class is like comparing a W800 to a Triumph T100 900cc. Trident 🔱,MtO7,SV650,CF Moto, Kawasaki Z650,Honda CBR 650 are in that class.
@redangrevival Жыл бұрын
Yes I suppose they are in terms of power out put. However I think the main point is the Hornet despite the power is still cheaper than both of these smaller capacity bikes! Such brilliant value for money. Yes the Street Triple is another level of quality

On the upside, there's the reliability of a Honda. On the down side, I heard the Hornet has to use expensive high octane gas. But considering the price, I can't complain.
@Grahamvfr Жыл бұрын
Never heard that, all modern Honda's will run 95 octane, I can't imagine all the reviewers on the hornet have been putting in 98 octane e5 and not mentioning it. Assuming you are talking UK fuel.

All Hondas run on the lowest octane fuel available in Europe. No high octane fuel needed.

Mt07 its a more fun bike, i tested and i found some times that all buyers have to keep in mind 1- electronic throttle, I feel laaging of response thats no happen whit tje mt07 you accellerate and its going up 2- rear shock are weak like cheaper trash 3- the bike doenst have stunt hability its a little harder to put some wheelies and dont do power wheelies :( 4- the engine have a shot block that makes the bike more power at the top end and slower acceleration at low rpm :( mt07 its better and lower and medium rev but no too great at higher rpm. All user going to spend more time to 3 to 6 rpm that its normal 5- its the cb500 Chasis whit the same wheel honda can put cb650r wheel whit 180 tire but no the want to save money on construcction 6- innecesary technology mt07 you star and go, whit the cb750 you need to program the driver modes and you lose time doing that. 7- they too all cb500 platform whit aa new engine and thats it. Not a new bike I think when I rode that i goong to feel more power in the beginning of the revs but MT 07 Its better bike in sensations and the fun factor You can stunt whe mt07 put some wheelies have fun customazation more easy Easy to repair And indestructuble engine that last for years And more response If honda makes a differente bike than cb500, long block whit more torque ar 6 or 5 rpm peak Better suspension And big tire Honda win But for me its difficuyl to smile ridding that bike And sensations its better that price
@redangrevival Жыл бұрын
Fair enough we all have different likes and wants from our motorcycles! I still definitely prefer the Hornet over the MT-07, just feels more premium to me and I actually fin the engine some what more exciting than the CP2. Plenty of low down torque and exciting to rev out. Suspensions either bike is not top quality. 160 rear section helps the bike feel so nimble and agile. Also better price as well! Each to their own 😁

So what about the naked middleweight class leader the KTM 790 Duke? has been head and shoulders above all other for years! Strange you dont know this 🤷🏻♂️ oh and power to weight ratio try riding the KTM and be educated, the Hornet does have many smilarities in style to the 790 Duke, really you should try the actual class leader if your gonna talk about 'class leader'
@redangrevival Жыл бұрын

@@redangrevival it should be 5k more in terms of the performance differance really ive ridden the honda 650 which i gather is similar to the hornet in performance, and it isnt even close to the KTM although for many people thats fine the parts for KTM are also very expensive so if budget is the main concern get the Hornet, its like a Klim jacket v a Oxford both work but the Klim is twice the price but 4 times better
