I am primarily a Tamiya builder but Academy has really produced some nice kits. I recently built their M1A2 TUSK kit and it is an awesome kit. I will be picking up this one.

Nice kit combo. I've built Academy M3 tank kits, very nice little kits. Last winter i built their version of the panzer III-J with the long 50mm gun. Very nice kit. Just finished pre-shading before the base coat goes on. So have had a chance to look over the Tamiya 600cc motorcycle kit with sidecar and three figures. I was the scalehobbist website and was looking at it. That kit is $20 something while this kit is $30 something, this kit has a great price point. Thanks for tge review Hank.

Hiya, Hank! Academy kits are usually pretty good, but you need to be super-careful with the decals. Thanks for the review! 😃

Nice little video. I made the Tamiya BMW R75 back in 1975 and the Italeri Zundapp in 1992. Kit looks interesting. I would venture that a light spray of desert yellow over the panzer grey would be an interesting idea for a early DAK diorama.

Haha nice that the model makers now have ONLY the boxart on the front. I think Dragon did it first with the kit number and text only on the sides. Nice Grüße

Good review my brother got his Monday. I like the kit if i didn't have 4 Pnzr I's and II's already I'd buy it. Nice detail and I'm really happy that the decals include the tank co and motorcycle crew.

Started on mine earlier this week. So far so good! The parts have nice detail and the fit is good. I’ll probably replace the MG’s with aftermarket, but the kit guns are nicely molded. I just prefer to use aftermarket so I don’t have to clean up the mold lines etc. otherwise, it’s going to be an out of the box build.

An off the wall comment on painting. I have been building models before this newfangled internet came out (humor). I didn't give it though, until recently, to look up painting tips since I thought I knew what I was doing. I would paint everything on the sprue (tape what had to be glued) then cut when dried. Until, I saw everyone assembling it first online then painting. I did this with a 1/35 scale WWII US Navy bomber pilot and my airbrushing was not as nice as I thought it would be. His arms were to close together. I figured I would airbrush since his coveralls were one color. Thank-you Frank for having this wonderful site with all of your excellent videos! I loved the face painting Vid! Sorry this comment is in the wrong place, figured it would catch someone's eye it being the newest. Thanks again!

Hey Hank - great video, i have my kit on pre-order here in Ireland, looking forward to your build and painting. I like the paint conversion chart in the instructions - can you point me in the direction of where i can get something similar that covers most of the popular paints? Cheers Liam

Great video Hank thank you and any reason why Tamiya paints are not on the list ?

Have you tried ammo mig atom paints yet? I've heard they are more like tamiya, hard wearing but without the stink.

I’m totally new, have built a model in 60 years. What is photo edge?
@triggerthesound7674 ай бұрын
Photo etch. it’s very thin brass parts that are photographically printed on metal and acid etched. Sometimes they are intended to be bent into 3d shapes. It allows making extremely small detail very accurately.

It certainly look like Academy is gonna give Tamiya a run for it's money, looks like the did a great job clarifying their instructions. I always found their instructions to be a bit too cluttered.

Call me a wimp but I sooo much prefer rubber tracks to partial plastic tracks . . .just so much easier.
