Nice, accurate review. One of the better ones that I’ve seen of the 3rd gen Countryman and I’ve watched about 100, even in French! You are about the only reviewer that does the background research, e.g., they nearly all assume it’s leather seats and steering wheel wrap and have probably never heard of the MINI (BMW) Vescin label. The shifter paddles are, unfortunately, only available in the top JCW trim. I believe that’s worldwide. The Countryman S here in the US has a few more horses (241) than UK and EU and a bit more torque (295) that would certainly benefit from paddles which are not an option. i have the Countryman S with the bigger engine (I do live in the US, after all 😊) - exact same exterior and interior, except I have the Dark Petrol Blue seats. I love it! It’s so nice to drive. Despite the bigger size, it still retains MINI fun and quirkiness. I am so over comments saying “It’s not a MINI any more”! I doubt if any of the haters have even seen the new model, never mind been in one. MINI is a brand now, not a size, and people want more space and safety features which were sadly lacking until the newest models. The 2024 models (2nd gen Countryman) did not even have blindspot monitoring. Thanks for a well researched review!

15:25: there are no scenarios whereby the car will allow you to fully remove your hands whatsoever. It's perhaps different in other countries but not in UK. We have a Level 3 Sport in the S engine and I drove it to London and back and there was never a time I could get the steering wheel warning not to chime when removing my hands.

@BuckleUpShow As I explained, the feature may be available in other regions but not all are available in UK. I have the car and at no speed will the wheel not indicate the need for your hands to be on it.

@da_great_mogul it will in certain slow-moving stop/start traffic situations. I experienced this during my testing of the car.

@BuckleUpShow OK then I'll be glad to try it again soon. This is a feature that only comes with Pro as opposed to Plus then?
@BuckleUpShow2 ай бұрын
Yes, it's only available as part of the Level 3 options pack, which brings the "Driving Assistant Professional" with it.

Your quoted 6.8 seconds 0-62 mph time of the 1.5L 168PS version is just plain wrong! The 2.0L S 218PS All4 version's quoted 0-62 mph time is only 7.1 seconds.
@BuckleUpShow23 күн бұрын
Apologies for this, looks like I should have said 8.6 seconds instead of 6.8 - either written the numbers down in the wrong order or misremembered them!

Im not 100% convinced by the proportions, although as inflated small car designs go, it’s much better than the Fiat 500 XL, which I still think is one of the worst styled vehicles of modern times.

How can any car that's taller than the reviewer be called a mini??? The brand has become utterly ridiculous. 🤬
@BuckleUpShow3 ай бұрын
Has it crossed your mind that Jasper could be incredibly small?
@da_great_mogul2 ай бұрын
It's not 1959 anymore. Cars all grow and Mini is a brand name that has maximum space on the inside with minimum space on the outside as its value. If you want a MINI, go for the Hatch and not the Countryman.
