I woke up early like a child on Christmas day to try out FSD(supervised) I giggled with glee as it drove me to the store. Its very neat. But the price is way to much for my use. I love driving my Tesla, wont pay 200 a month to supervise it with anxiety to drive itself.

When I bought my Y last November, I had a 3 month trial of FSD. The only part of it I liked was the auto lane change. I missed it when the trial ended, now with the 1 month free FSD I have it again. I wish Tesla would sell it as a standalone software upgrade(without all the other stuff on the $6K upgrade). It’s great, but not $6K great!

I’ve tried FSD for 3 months and now again with the one month supervised. Super cool to try it but its biggest problem is slow reactions and slow Turns that other drivers are not going to be aware of and they have no patience for especially in a city with aggressive drivers already. Works really well on the freeways as there’s less turning, lights and such… but autopilot already did a good job on freeways. My favorite part really is the visualizations detail vs autopilot’s details.

As a new 2024 Tesla Y owner these tips were great Ryan. Ugh…so much to learn. 🤔 The radio was initially there when I picked up the car but now it’s gone. Any thoughts on what happened?
@Garrison1698 ай бұрын
Press the right scroll wheel on the steering wheel for a voice command and say "radio".
@smittycat3598 ай бұрын
If you want the radio icon to stay on your screen as an fixed or 'always available' option, tap the three dots to the right of center at the bottom of your screen. From there, you can tap, hold and drag whatever icons you want to stay. There's only 5 spots available (it's kinda like the home screen on your cellphone) but you can make the radio one of the options that stays on screen. If you look to the right of the three dots, the icon shown there will be the most recent app you used that you haven't already set up as a fixed option (radio might have been there, but if you used another app after that, it would have replace the radio icon). I hope that helps and isn't too confusing.

Why wouldn't they put the options that pop up when you hold down the left scroll wheel at the top of screen so you don't have to look so far down and off the road? Sometimes it's like Tesla isn't considering the context of driving in designing the interface, like the side mirror control.

Do you find it useful to have 1/3 of the screen showing the traffic around you permanently? I currently have a car with an instrument cluster and a center screen with CarPlay. I’m pretty happy with the look and function of CarPlay. I’ve driven the Y a couple of times so, not a lot of experience, but didn’t instantly find it all that useful to have traffic shown around me. I know I can get a CarPlay adaptor for a Tesla, but it kind of bothers me that you can’t seem to customize the Tesla screen as much as you can other EV’s. You never know what’s going to bother you for a little while or always.

Question for anyone who might know as this is my first Tesla and still finding out stuff daily. When I get into the car after work and navigate home I noticed on top of screen is wavey / looks like a water illusion, this happens for several minutes then goes away. I thought this was because I was navigating to a supercharger but it happened today just navigating home. I also have cabin overheat protection on. Currently these MP3 folders are copied to my phone and I listen to my current book from my phone, usually via Bluetooth into a car's audio system. What MP3 options will I have when I get a Tesla? Can I copy those files to a USB stick or SSD installed into the car? Can I continue to stream from my phone into the Tesla via Bluetooth (or even a USB cable)? Does Tesla have a native MP3 player that remembers current file location and stop point?

after owning an 2016 X and having a 2021 3 loaner, I can say the portrait layout of the screen is much better. Obviously not for netflix and games and all that, but there is so much more that is not available because of the forced layout. Favorites is always available on my X. I appreciate my 2016 so much more now after that loaner. Just a lot of little things that are less on the newer screens. Also, wow, one screen is annoying. Could I get used to it, sure, but why? These cars ain't cheap... give me more screens and all the stalks. Wipers are way better on the X to because I have a stalk with more control. Even the scroll/buttons is annoying. Just give me a freakn left and right button... The old X is just way better...

I disagree with "Tesla's UI is very good". Color usage is inconsistent, as is shading. Colors are unfriendly for people with atypical color vision. Some buttons ave verbiage, some don't. Some button disappear and reappear as you do things like opening the trunk. Too much spaced used for animation of the outside world, and maps--even when I'm driving on my familiar home turf.
