Having used a Kampa ( now Domentic) awning since new in 2019, we have nothing but praise for the quality and space we get and none of the drawbacks of a poled system. Ease of use and with some generous appllication of Awning Lube, not a problem to slide it into the channel. Effective and great design. (Air Pro 260 plus) We have the advantage of a 'wet' room within the shelter of the awning, A zip-on bedroom Annex adds more sleeping accomodation for extra guests, (although on our particular 'van, this does obstruct access to the toilet cassette, somewhat). A great review and interesting innovations from an already successful company.

Great video Dan, we've had a Kampa/Dometic air 290 since 2017...only issue we had was a burst center roof pole at the same time ripping the roof open, this happend during the extremely hot summer we had a couple of years ago, I believe this was due to expansion from the excessive heat. I must say Dometic service was excellent the awning was returned to them, the pole and the roof repaired at no cost and returned all within 3 weeks...looking forward seeing this new version at the end of this month.

Great review as usual Dan. We are new to caravans (your posts have been brilliant for us). Have a new Evora and now looking at awnings. This Dometic seems good. We like the Isabella Ciruss but a little concerned about the weight.
@TheTrudgians2 ай бұрын
So, we carry the awning in the car. You can unzip the panels to make it smaller and carry those parts in the caravan (with curtains etc) The Cirrus and this awning are in very different leagues. If you’re able to visit a dealership that has these on display, the fabric is a very different design.
@philiprobson3132 ай бұрын
Thank you for your response. I guess your advice is that the Isabella is the better quality.

Looks like Dometic has caught up after taking ideas from Telta awnings. We’ve a Telta Soul and it knocks the socks off the Dometic current awning’s.

Are the Telta awnings as good as the Isabella range?
@leeb36442 ай бұрын
@@willowhypnotherapyI can’t help you with that, having a motorhome I’ve never had anything from the Isabella range. I can say that the Telta are fantastic quality.

We always had screen rooms we are thinking about an air awning. First question we are looking at motorhomes or 5th wheels can these awnings be customized to size. Also has Dometic addressed slide outs. Mike & Sue

Always loved our Dometic/ Kampa Pro L/H but as 2 disabled pensioners fading fast we cannot put it up due to weight (& we have shrunk!) Had to sell it. Have gone for a much much lighter weight air canopy. Admittedly not so much weather protection but we pack our extras & pick our holiday time acvordingly. Used this summer & suited us well with an airbreak for the extra protection. Our Kampa never had water pooling with the double angle roof or condensation issues & detachable curtains are good but MUST be easy glide. Interested to watch this but will never go back to awning from canopy

I heard that analogy regarding the carrot and radish with a youtube video regarding an Isabella sun canopy a little while ago! (Attwoods?) I agree great awning.

We have a Kampa Pro 260 never had any issues. When on hard standing pitches we always put a plastic damp proof membrane down under our awning carpet stops the damp coming up from the ground.

Lovely looking awning, we have had a Vango Kalari 2 but the roof light windows deteriorated and split, although this Dometic is a very nice awning, I'm put off by the two roof windows.

be interested to see how the doors unzip (part down / fully etc) to allow air in but keep dogs inside and also be fully removed/stored if not needed. Thanks

Hi Dan, When abroad with lots of Sun (sometimes), then, you need a roof cover or a second inside lining to keep the heat down. I think I noticed some clips, but does it have them. A must if you are in France during the summer.

Great video Dan. Love this sort of stuff! We have an old Kampa air ace that we bought second hand and have been looking for a newer alternative recently. This new version answers so many of the old complaints and looks really smart. Would be interested to know the size options, weights and costs. Thanks

Hopefully I should be able to answer some of those questions when I borrow one next year, but details will be out soon on the Dometic website, and also dometic dealers too.

Dan,you said it’s so bright in there but no roof lining was fitted. You need one or it’ll be drenched with condensation otherwise.
@TheTrudgians2 ай бұрын
To be fair, we only suffered from condensation on our very first awning in the very first outings. Since then we have been able to manage the condensation levels quite well, this awning has some vents in the construction, so i'm not sure if it will be a huge issue. Only time will tell!!
@dentydent64232 ай бұрын
@@TheTrudgians thanks for your reply,we too had issues till we learned about opening the side vents. But the amount of condensation on our roof lining is crazy. We didn’t have one for first few trips and our furniture was soaked..
@watto77282 ай бұрын
2017 400 air ace pro with vents open and a non breathable floor (foam mats plus kampa carpet) we still get condensation in the cooler months so have always used the roof lining to capture the drips, which does dry out very quickly.

Hope the stitching is better than my previous Domestic Rally 380. I had to return it and the replacement wasn't much better ... The fabric started to fade after 4 weeks use, obviously this one is a lighter colour ... The dual piping feed for the awning rail is an absolute nightmare. The unused channel piping for motorhomes fitment grips against the caravan when pulling it into the awning channel ... Finally even though its ripstop fabric it looks much thinner than my current Dometic. So I'm not sure. I think its gonna be Isabella for me next time 🤔

@watto77282 ай бұрын
our 2017 kampa 400 air ace pro is now as grey as this one..another point to note is just like the modern caravans why are the kampa awnings getting deeper meaning more weight and becoming unsuitable for many hard standings size. I was looking at the new 400 air ace pro but decided against it due to these issues.
