Thanks for what you do brother. Dale

Serious fanboy in the house!! Seriously though, 1/4” draw length adjustments are not available on mods that are very inaccurate resulting in a collection of $80 mods on your bench. Secondly, holding weight should be adjustable on the mod rather than mod specific, also resulting in a bigger collection of $80 mods. All bows feel different and Mathews mod system makes finding that sweet spot very difficult and expensive. Hoyt’s 1” draw length range on a mod with 1/4” adjustments is better. I assume Mathews didn’t do something similar because their current mods fit on all bows.

Not to mention that they removed the 34.75" Atlas that was designed to long draws up to 34" and replaced it with the Lift 33 XD, which with 2" less axle to axle will have terrible string angles to anyone above 30" DL...

The Lift and Lift X are the first Mathews that I have had serious consideration in. I am a Bowtech guy and Mathews isn't even the #2 brand for me, but the Lift platform is very impressive. As much as I would like to try the X, I believe this is a platform they will continue to build upon for a few more years, so they will only get better. The optimist in me is waiting for a Lift 35 with at least a timing adjustment feature added in. If that ends up happening, it would be a near guarantee that I would buy my first Mathews.

Great review. I was thinking this may be the year I upgraded, but the more I thought about it, the more I'll probably wait. I actually wish Matthews developed a timing adjuster and waited on the cam timing instead of the opposite. If my bow has bad timing, it shoots like garbage and I have only one option - go to the shop/buy a press and then it still isn't perfectly timed as it seems I always need a 1/4 twist. For cam adjustment, I always have the option to move the rest/loop. Sure, you lose efficiency and it isn't the best option, but it is an option that will result in bullet holes and good flying broadheads. It seems like the industry norm will be adjustment of the cam and timing off press for at least flagship bows in the very near future and if you don't buy bows often it's likely worth the wait if I want a Matthews or buy the Darton.

I would love to see a comparison of flagship bows from a decade ago... compared to 2024/5 bows. Im from Aus, (getting left hand flagship is near impossible to try before you buy. But i purchased a 2012 Bear Anarchy 35 ata that cost me $1200 kitted out back then. Owned a couple of other brands and now my pick of the newer is the old V3x 33. Which cost me 4k kitted out... Ive tried emailing Bear to find me some new limbs shipped here for a decent price as its the best bow ive had that just seemed to work for me. Id be shooting it still but Bear never got back to me. If anyone can help me getting it sorted id much appreciate it. What im also trying to say is ignore every bit of maketing, try everything before you commit. The Anarchy is all over the V3X for me in alot of ways, it just worked

It would seem to me that in measuring the "load out" point, you would ignore the cam and just look st the string position. At what point does the string hit its maximum spread (distance) at the cams before it changes direction? In effect, you're then looking at a string triangle. For this bow that would seem to be at least an inch more than you are measuring.

I’m assuming the limb adjustment only moves the cam side of the limb I wonder what that added stress will do to the limb’s longevity since it’s adding a bit of a twist to the limb. For that reason at this point I still feel like the bowtech system will be better but time will tell if it has any negative effects on the limbs but it’s still too early. Plus I’m sure they tested this before they put it out on the market… but I’m glad more companies are making it easier to tune their bows

@@nickdumas7873 If you believe in having everything “in line” Mathews definitely owns that game. There may not be a big difference between a bridgelock mount and a pic mount but the bridgelock stabilizers is a huge win for Mathews when it comes to integration vs Hoyt. I personally don’t think it makes a difference (and you’re paying a premium for that technology) but if you’re too lazy to unscrew your stabs vs sliding them back when putting them in your bow case, then that’s an advantage. I really wish Hoyt came out with some tunability options this year. I was 100% going to buy a Hoyt this year if they came out with that tech, but it looks like I’m waiting until 2026.

I love innovation, but I think there is a hidden self-destruct button built into allowing the general public to tune their bows. Not intended for the choir, there is a lot more to tuning than moving a cam. Also, I am a fan of what you do on the top you should do to the bottom. Correct me if I am wrong, but I can only think of 2 companies that have an upper and lower adjustment.

I believe paper tune first from initial setup (new rest, loop). If tears are big, swap top hats first to get a bullet hole. If you have a bullet hole with a very small tear, then micro adjust using the new tuning feature on the limbs. Then you broadhead tune. Move your rest to get your Broadhead to follow your field point. These adjustments should be very small/micro adjustments. Good luck! 🤙🏽

For everyone saying he is a fanboy just 2 years ago he was promoting bowtech. I remember the year I bought my v3x he was shooting a bowtech. Now he might be getting a bag from Mathew’s to promote their bow but typically he scores them fairly.

With a Lift 33, V3X 33 and Phase 4 29, there have been zero need for left/right tuning adjustments. Of course ymmv. Now if the nock points with the Switchweight cam's would just stop migrating upward......

I always hear about the 5lb mods, to get maximum efficiency, but how far can you wind it down on the limb bolts? ie does a 70lb bow go down to 60 if you wanted it to? Reason I ask is because I will normally shoot 57, 58 lb, but on an upcoming hunt I think I'll need to try 65lb. can I use the 1 mod, or do I need 2? cheers

Question, considering a Darton I currently shoot 60 pounds but would like to move up to 65 pounds, If I shoot a 70 pound bow at 65 pounds, Is there a downside in terms of vibration noise or cam rollover? I’ve always been told that you should shoot a bow at its highest maximum draw weight. Does that hold true with today’s new flagship bows?

I get 332.2 using the six numbers he showed. It looks like he does these in his head by using the top chrono and dropping the fastest and slowest and using the bottom to confirm it's about the same. I agree if you are going to state an average speed it should be the mathematical average speed. Same with weight, weigh it out of the box and go with that.

Good review. You should create a master google spreadsheet with all the bows/specs/ratings like the Lusk broadhead guy does. That way, we can weigh the criteria how we want, and you can update your ratings in a centralized location.

This new tuning feature is awesome! I do have a question about it though, and maybe you don't have the answer yet. When changing strings and cables, are you still pulling the axel to change the yokes, and if so, how big of a pain is it with this he drive system?

If the Mathews rates their speed using IBO specs, then maybe consider using the 80lbs mods since that’s how they get that IBO rating. You will be much closer to that 343fps number.

You may have answered this in a previous video but I can't recall but... Are there any special adaptors required to press the lift series of bows in the LCA EZ presses? With those limbs being so far past parallel, it makes me wonder. I'm still shooting the Halon 32 but after this drop, I'm thinking it's time for an upgrade.

I noticed last year on the Lift 33 video review you measured the reflex and said it was 1 and a half inches. I went back and watched to be sure. This year on the Lift X 33 you measured reflex and said it is an inch and 3/4. Are they truly different on the 33 from last year to this year or was there a mis measurement last year or this year.

Question, I see tophats are still on the inside of these cams-- Does it require tophat adjustments if cam lean cannot be taken out with the new tuning system? I'd assume yes, but figured I'd ask to anyone who knows better.
@hopkinsfamily1891
@hopkinsfamily1891 Ай бұрын
My understanding is there are no tophats. The cam is fixed to one limb and adjustable distance to the other. This system seems to have an advantage of some of the others as it can travel farther not requiring tophats or shims at all. No reason to press it for cam adjustments. Unfortunately you still need to press it for timing, so I'm not sure it's that great of an advantage.

The biggest issue with Mathews (limbs aside) is the mod system, which is a pain as others have pointed out. Mods make getting the right fit a bit difficult if you want to play with the let off or tweak your draw length. I much prefer Elite's or PSE's for draw length & let off. The new tuning system looks good (so long as it's durable).
