This CLA and the Purespeed are piquing my interest in Mercedes vehicles. Well designed exterior and pretty decent interior design that isnt looking too similar to avionics cockpits.

The door panel looks very plain. And I worry about the parts at the bottom by the speaker grille and red light. It looks like hard plastics. 0:06 Also, interesting on the new steering wheel. The button layout is different to existing Mercs. I see only 1 directional control (up, down and sideways) button. So I'm assuming the infotainment system will no longer be able to be controlled from the steering wheel.

MB says, the new engine has been developed in Germany, but is build in China by the Geely-Renault joint venture Horse powertrain (formerly Aurobay/Geely). Head of Horse PT is Michael Fleiss, formerly involed with the 1.4L TSI development at Volkswagen. Fleiss moved to Volve/Geely in 2012, when Peter Mertens took over as head of R&D at Volvo. Chinese companies used a lot of German human capital to get their R&D and design going. Sad to see, but German companies got to complacent.

Took couple of photos 2 weeks ago in south Sweden when i caught one in our Circle K petrol station parking spot. 2 young girls in the car. Parked beside them in this camouflage Merc without exhaust. One girl busy with the computer and the other girl covering the steering wheel. Of course they "couldnt" answer my question about the "CLA" question. Guess the rhe winter test 2500km north was waiting for this "zebra" camouflaged Merc.

It's physical. My 2003 Passat had it all the time in winter with halogen lights. It's the humidity going through

Our smart never had a humidity problem and a Mercedes had a humidity problem only with one side. The other side was OK. The fact that you get lights sometimes with much humidity and sometimes with less humidity inside is a bad situation that has to be improved.

@@beachboy1313 No, it's not a problem and not a bad situation that has to be fixed. Humidity in LED headlights is normal. You can also have humidity inside your cabin in winter time when you enter a car.

CLAs have become ridiculously expensive and to think that a E220d is R1,4m in SA is crazy and the 2020 A200 was at R900k if am not mistaken and thats alot of money we didn't even see them on the road and CLAs SA are very loved you see them on the road alot but those are 2015/16/17 models no new ones and i doubt this one will sell because i see this playing around a R1m and more which is insane.

The A line is also being discontinued. Mercedes want to concentrate on the more expensive vehicles where there is more profit. My current Cla was £40,000 the new will be £50,000 and will be their base model.

Der Erfolg wird meiner Meinung nach vom Preis abhängig sein. Ich denke unter Euro 60 000 wird man kaum einen gut ausgestatteten CLA bekommen. Und dann bleibt die Frage ob er auch zuverlässig ist. Beim EQS war dies ja nicht unbedingt eine Stärke des Autos. Mir hätte auch eine 400 Volt Architektur bei der hervorragenden Reichweite gereicht. Aber die Schwaben wollen ja immer alles reinpacken, der Kunde bezahlt es ja.
