I really fancy a classic. I particularly like the signals army look, but the new madras red looks fantastic. It puts me in mind of the old royal mail bantams. As I already have a meteor which I am very fond of, I really couldn't justify it. A thought on led lights. I have a peugeot scooter for commuting and the led tail light packed up. The new unit would have cost about 80 quid, which I wasn't thrilled about. It turned out that there was a problem with parts availability in the uk and there wasn't one to be had. After some gnashing of teeth, I got inventive. The led brake light still works and I bought a cheap ebay round tail light and number plate holder. This went on in place of the original number plate lamp, using its 5w bulb. In short, a lot of buggering about for what could have been a couple of screws and a new bulb.

The bronze and cream mid-range model for me please. I had to pause your video and stare at it for a moment. It is the best looking 350 classic I've ever seen. I personally welcome the little tech updates RE are doing here. In my mind, a modern classic should be, well... modern. I would go so far as to welcome RE to shoehorn the new liquid cooled 450 motor into this bike, but keep the aesthetics exactly as is. I would snap that up in a heartbeat. But I imagine my opinions here are in the minority. Thanks for sharing.

Good morning Stu. Another good video. Thank you for the info. It’s nice to see that Royal Enfield are keeping the soul of the 350 classic intact and just making small additions. It sounds like they are listening to their customers. I love the look of the base model in red. It does look so very 1950’s. I’ve only had one car with LED headlights. Great to drive behind but a killer for other road users. I think , like you, that they are too bright.

I’m with you one hundred percent on lighting. Halogen lighting worked perfectly fine. I have a 2022 bike with an LED headlamp and the only real difference is that the light is whiter. It doesn’t illuminate any further ahead than my previous bike. Plus I find the glare from oncoming vehicles to be very distracting. As you said, at some point in time these units will fail. What will be the cost and what will be the availability? Currently here in the US I can go into any auto parts store and buy a bulb that fits ninety percent of the vehicles on the road. Cars, truck and motorcycles. Will that be the case for an LED lamp? I highly doubt it.

Thank you Stuart! This 350 is the nicest RE without any doubt! Good choice for the film 😉 LED lights are not always good at all! See those mounted on the (very good) Suzuki 800 range which made unanimity against them as... they are even dangerous at night 😰! Not only they are costly if they fail, in that case you have to buy and install auxiliary lights just to see at night! Finally, LED output dims with the time...

I have also heard that the heal toe shifter may be standard. Yet, to see. Can’t wait to ride the Classic on the beautiful southern Swedish roads. It will be my second Classic 350- it is my favorite motorcycle after about 25 over 40 years - and fourth RE, but that has been on the straight roads and boulevards in Florida. I remember when the first gear position indicators came out in the '70s. I think it was the Suzuki 750 "water bottle" Everyone was remarking that it was just a sales gimmick and this included bike reviewers in respected magazines. I myself had a 1979 Suzuki GS 850 and copped a bit of ribbing. "Geez can,t ya count up and down mate?". Now people seem to think that if a bike hasn't got one , it's incomplete ! .My currant bike dose not have one - Suzuki S V 650 (early gen.), and I only missed it for the first few rides. It's funny how things become normalized eg. quick shifter. I've been doing clutchless gear changes up and down for 50 years and still don't feel the need for one. In my opinion the less "farkles" the better though after a recent bad experiance riding, I now think that anti lock braking is a good thing. Ride well ride safe.

Morning Stewart. Great vid with a deep undertone if I say so myself. Design life of components was my first thought - true for all moden engines. Then the critical bit, design adolescent - especially true in all modern electronics. My friends Nissan with around 78,000 on the clock first developed a battery warning light that wouldn't quit despite three visits to the Nissan dealership where the car was bought. Then other problems, all electrical appeared making this car un-driveable. But another local well known repair shop said it's a known electronic fault with this model. And sadly the car is scrap all due to the electronics through the computer coding. So only time will tell how reliable and robust any motorcycles electronics will prove to be in the future? And if replacement components will be available in say ten or twenty years? That's where your vid took me sir... Safe cruising till next time 😊👍...

Good overview of the changes for this year, thanks. All I would add is that I don't think longevity is the only concern when it comes to the LED bulb changeover. It's certainly a concern of course, but it has just as much to do with the efficiency. They draw just a fraction of the current of an incandescent bulb for the same light output. In turn you get less load on your charging system, which should lead to better overall life expectancy for parts like your stator and battery. To me that's a bigger plus than extended bulb life, which as you covered isn't guaranteed and might come at a higher cost of replacement. I do also agree with you in regards to color temperature. Overall I think the changes for this year are a net positive. So long as they keep the settling and ergonomics a little refresh every few years is good. Awesome, fun little motorcycles.

A small thought about light bulbs: a few years ago I was searching for something whiter than my classic candle yellow light bulb for my XV1100. I was looking towards motorcycle "dedicated" LED's with ridiculous high prices just to get rid of that yellow curse knowing at the same time those light bulbs were not anywnere as close to the geometry (so to speak) of classic bulbs, resulting in a very weird distribution of light. At some point I gave up and mounted a classic H4, Philips WhiteVision Ultra if I remember correctly, still yellow-ish light, very good marketing,....aaaargh. Then while I was going along with my mother to do some house shopping my atention was caught by the darkest blue H4 I've ever seen: Kraftmann Super White, 1.5 euro. The light range is the same as any other ordinary unmarketed light bulb. But the yellow is gone for good. I bougt three more: one for my T100 and two for my old Peugeot 107. This is the whitest halogen I could find. Thank you for your patience.

Good point about LED lights. The head lamp Unit failed on my Interceptor last summer. Luckily it was still covered under warranty but took 3 months for a new unit to arrive and the dealer expressed the same concerns as you Stu. I'm sure he said the new headlamp cost £600 pounds and he reckoned by 10 years old a lot of these units will have failed or faded to the point where they wont pass an MOT. because LEDs dim with age.

@stuartfillingham8 күн бұрын
they dont shine brighter because the law forbids it. they are simply a higher colour temp. the DFT is currently investigating claims that they dazzle leading to accidents.down side is that a replacement unit can cost up to £1000! also as i said there is no proof the last longer as of yet!

@rcfokker16307 күн бұрын
Gonna need water-cooling, if you want a reliable 40 hp from a 500, I think. And water-cooled engines are all so very ugly. They're kind of 'inside-out' with all the webs on the outside of the casings. Having said that, I wonder whether it's true ... the Goldstar engine remains fairly 'clean' and I suppose is a stand-out exception to the Rule. I was looking at Honda's new GB 350, the other day, and was quite impressed. Seemed to be of good quality, although it's perhaps not quite as pretty as these Enfields.

Limiting the colour options is a shame I think. There is no blue option and I think these bikes look particularly striking in that pale blue colour. They scream 1950's retro. Also missing is the 'Signals' option, which means no retro army bike. A real shame, as I believe both sold well. All the other improvements look very positive, although I'm not sold on LED lighting either. I prefer the cheap but mild inconvenience of the occasional bulb change. The cost of buying brand new LED lighting units in the event of failure can be frightening and future supply could be an issue. Conventional bulbs also have the bonus of being the weakest link in the electrical circuitry of the lighting system and so they all individually become secondary fuses and therefore help protect that circuitry. I take it that these new 2025 bikes now conform to the latest daft EU Euro 5+ regulations. What this will do to the bike's running I don't know or if further ECU restrictions are in place to prevent owner modifications.....?

I'm definitely a fan of regular bulbs, at least for the main beam. The very last thing I want for my hunter would be an LED headlight. I've never had a problem with the standard light. In fact, my other bike, a 2011 yamaha 600, I wanted to modernise, so I bought a replacement LED bulb for the headlight. It looked modern, but the light was very aggressive and for all the extra road it illuminated, it also cast a lot of harsh shadows. 6 months later it failed (and it wasn't that cheap to buy) and, to be honest, I couldn't wait to put a halogen bulb back in there!

The problem with most LED headlights is that the colour temperature is too high, 5500K and above introduces blue light which the human eyes can't focus on so you end up being blinded/ dazzled by them and you get the idiots that put cheap E Bay LED bulb into halogen headlights units the light emitted from the LED bulb overwhelms the reflector and well and truly blinds all oncoming traffic, as far as the Royal Enfield 350 is concerned, very nice indeed especially in emerald green and chrome, but no mention if the stator has been upgraded from its measly 156 watts output to something far more substantial so extras can be plugged in.

@stevedix29737 күн бұрын
LED vehicle lighting , looks cool , bright and fresh , LED`s are cheap to produce , require less amperage to function so wiring can be of lighter . But in my humble opinion as a mechanic and also someone who drives trucks regularly (at night) , LED lighting is just a money making thing , if LED`s fail it`s a replacement unit which can be expensive , your vehicle is off the road until that unit is replaced (availability dependant) and in fact you could be left stranded waiting for hours for a recovery due to what should have been a simple bulb change , we won`t even go into the area of overly bright headlights that blind and dazzle , there is one locally to me who has had his lights tinkered with (yup you can tune your lights!) that are so bright that when following you , your car interior is illuminated , you are shadowed on too your windscreen so you can barely see out and his lights reflect on signs well before yours even get there , this is on dipped , I`ve come across this a lot , LED`s are dangerous and need more regulation if not outright bans for headlights , with retro fit return to halogen for all current users , but this won`t happen due to green policies , shame .

but it is a different bike to the original 30s' bike. It can't have been in continuous production since the 30s if it's got a different engine. It's the same as saying the Mini is still in production since the 50s.

Yes a good strong bike Stuart..but not really the same as a 40s bullet this engine is completely different for a start ..the original cast iron barrel bullet ended in 2010...not before time though

the original was incapable of meeting emissions regs 15 years ago. the bullet range is on its second new engine since then.

Totally agree: matte black is a no fit for a classic model.

The Classic 350 2025 model still has a standard backlight. Only front light is LED. LED indicators come as an accessory

not according to their official press release.

@ maybe this differs from country to country. German website shows only LED headlight, but 10 watts in the indicators, i.e standard bulbs

Not a big fan of the new colours. I like the Halcyon Grey and Gun metal grey ones of the current crop.As for the new ones, maybe the red Madras one and the Blue will look better in real life. The camouflaged one looks laughable, like the pattern in a cheap kids toy, mass produced in China. The black one has zero subtlety. The others have too much chrome for me. I suppose they can be customized, but they could have done a better job, as they could have done with the bigger Classics. Anyway, Thanks for the vid Stuart.btw I wonder if a single cylinder Bullet 500 will come out. Maybe using the 'Himalayan ' engine

I ride a 61 year old Enfield with LED relacement bulbs only to reduce the power draw, can't bring myself to buy a new bike.

LED headlights from a passing Tesla, shining on the new chrome 350, will make it reflect light like a UFO Time Machine!

Wld it be sacrilegious to put alloy wheels on a Classic 350?

Sounds practical. Do as you wish, is my suggestion.

LED lights leave images on your retina which strikes me as being dangerous.

RE have a problem with the launch of the Honda GB350 in UK and Europe. Likely to be much more reliable than the RE as the Honda is made in Japan. The Honda is cheaper too… I think as much as £500 cheaper.

LEDS are lower power. Wires and connectors become more reliable.
