NEW 550 XP Mark II Chainsaw. How Fast Cut Compared to an Old 445 HUSQVARNA Chainsaw. Cutting Race

Just got a new 550XP Mark II chainsaw. So I want to see how much faster it cuts compared to my old 445 Husqvarna chainsaw. to make if fair, I put the same size bar and a new chain on the 445. but honestly there's nothing fair about this since the old chainsaw is 16 years old.

I have the 445 and considered the 550xp before buying. For me I don't cut firewood to heat my house but I do cut the odd tree in the yard from blowdowns or trees for bon fires. For me the 445 does just fine for this type of work, but if I had to cut fire wood I'd go with the 550xp. As you can see in just one morning of cutting you could save an hour or so just by using the faster saw. This was very informative.

Yes, the 445 is great. It still has plenty of power and cuts faster than most saws. When I bought the 445. I wanted a chainsaw that wasn't too heavy (445 is 11.2lbs), plus I didn't want to spend too much (in 2007, it was $320. now it's $419). The Husqvarna dealer told me that you can go up or down 2 inches on the size of the bar on Husqvarna chainsaws. Orginally, I had a 16-inch bar on mine. Which was easier for me since I was still learning how to use it. Well, thanks for watching.

Your chain is way too tight to start with. When you release the throttle your chain immediately stops, so much friction.

I've actually cut w/550mk2 versus a 460 Rancher and it beats that saw in 16-18" size wood. Husky is underrating their HP numbers on the 550xp as they actually make about 4.8hp and are the most powerful 50cc class saw by a decent margin when tested on a dyno. You should definitely be running it at 40:1 mix BTW (50:1 is EPA thing) and as they got weak bearings that extra oil may double its life. And its after like 5hrs of runtime then autotune will remove the break-in tuning limiter and you might notice a boost in power and rpm.

Thanks for the advice. I really enjoy the new 550xp, especially when cutting large logs saves a ton on time, but i still use the 445 for all the small logs and brush. Right now, I'm buying the premix fuel for the 550xp and using 93 octane with oil mix in the 445 both are 50:1

Honestly, a 20-inch bar on the 550 would be great. Since I normally only cut a few trees down. I've always used a smaller bar and just made 2 cuts. Well, thanks for watching

Thanks, I did it for fun. Overall, the 550XP is a great chainsaw. Very powerful and cuts very quick, and after using it. I find that I use the 550xp chainsaw more than the 445. Well, thanks for watching.
