From what I’ve seen from around 1850 till around the 1940s style design and aesthetic was part of most things. Look at old cast iron table legs for things like lathes or other tools. Look at buildings. Especially downtown Chicago before they tore it down for the “modern” sky scrapers

@@GoldmansGarage Funny you should mention table legs. This morning someone posted the base for a Shopsmith. I opened the ad just to see whether it had fancy legs. I really like the Walker Turner tools I've collected because of the design. Some time back I built a garage in Weathersfield, CT. We used an old piece of rail steel out of a CT factory. It had great webbing in the design and the owner painted it red. I think it became the centerpiece of the garage.
