New Alabama football coach Kalen DeBoer lands in Tuscaloosa

Alabama's next head football coach landed at the Tuscaloosa airport before 9 p.m. Friday night.
DeBoer was officially announced as the program's next coach earlier Friday night. A team meeting is expected to be held on campus Friday and a press conference is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday. That press conference will air in its entirety on ABC 33/40, our website, and across our social media platforms.

As a graduate of the University in 2001, I have seen my share of new head coaches come and go. I just pray that our new coach will continue to do the things that got him to this point. Being the Head Coach at the University of Alabama is completely different than being the HC at any other University in the country. We will know quick, fast, and in a hurry if he has what it takes to be successful in the S.E.C. The game has changed so much for the worse that I do not blame Coach Saban one bit for hanging up his whistle. There is absolutely zero loyalty in college football anymore. The transfer portal has completely ruined what used to be. I think in certain cases and under certain criteria that a player should be allowed to go to another school. For example, I had a player who was an exceptional WR for me at the HS level. He went to Southern Miss. to play for coach Larry Fedora because he employed the spread offense which is what we ran at my HS. My kid goes to Southern Miss and starts as a true freshman and even earned an espy award that year and played in a bowl game. Coach Fedora takes the job at North Carolina and the HC that comes to take his place was a two tight end set running the I formation. Basically left my WR out there as a decoy 90 percent of the time. My kid should have had the chance to transfer to another school where they ran an offense that suited his skill set but he was not allowed to because there wasn't a platform in place for him to do that without having to forfeit a year of eligibility. Now you have every Tom, Dick, and Harry hopping into the portal every year and it is forcing head coaches to have to recruit a kid every year instead on just his senior year in high school. A literal night mare. I saw last year where two defensive starters from Georgia who had won back to back national titles transfer to another school. WTF?!? Why would anyone even consider doing something like that.? Oh I know why, they can be paid openly now. No loyalty from players to their schools has and will continue to diminish the pageantry of college football. It has become no different than the NFL and the only time I watch an NFL game is if one of my former players happens to be playing on television that day. Other than that, I could care less about professional football. I can say that when Coach Saban retired form college football so did I. I will always support my beloved Tide but it will never be the same again. Best wished to the new HC. -Yellowhammer

Thank you, Huskies. We were pulling for you against Michi. I can relate to how crushing it is to lose a coach. Our coaching staff got wiped out every year. Nobody stayed loyal to Saban, but they went for HC positions and assistant coaches went for opportunities. The Saban coaching tree has many branches that cover most of the US map. Apologies for some of the lesser fanbases and their derogatory comments. Please just ignore them. They don’t get out of their trailer parks and backwoods very much, and it shows. Just ignore them. He made the best decision for his career. Funny, I remember how many people were talking smack when Saban landed. Then they all fav sudden turned back to ‘Roll Tide’ when the Ws started getting racked up.

Everyone including the Dolphins owner wanted Saban to stay and he even offered him more money to stay there are always going to be winners and losers in life and loyalty is not found in sports because it's a business.

Dabo has his own dynasty at Clemson if Saban decided to retire before the college playoff format came about I could have seen him being the head coach but not now and especially after this year.
