I picked up an AO pilot with the nylon lenses a while back. I love the style, but a serious problem I had with them was just how the fit came out to be. Every time I’d do the smile test, the frame would lift from the back and the entire frame front would lift off my face. And the weight of the nylon lenses didn’t help them stay down.

How is the black frame color compared to the Randolph matte black frame color? I purchased one of each and am waiting for them to arrive to determine which one I will keep. Edit: I received them both already. The quality is very comparable between the two. The color as well. I ended up keeping the American Optical since they sit better on my face. The Randolph engineering glasses have a slight angled tilt that make them look a tiny bit smaller than the American Optical. Ended up getting an amazing deal on the American Optical due to Amazon Prime.

Unpopular opinion, but I wish they let you choose between bayonet and loop ear holder arms

That's not unpopular. The bayonet arms look a little more informal and odd when worn with a suit. I'm a lawyer, so I must dress formally most of the time. I still where by RE's with bayonet arms because I don't care that much, but I think the more traditional arms would look better and might stay on better, too.
