Wow great catch. I never seen a downtown major train station with a level crossing. An idea I have for the city of Chicago is they should dig an underpass for the main road you just were in this video to separate the road from the rail tracks. That would be called a grade separation. That way traffic including Chicago transit buses won’t have to wait for trains to pass through and can run more efficiently

What a great idea! Why didn't the railroads and the city think of that 100 years ago? Could it be that the station is barely above the water level of the Chicago River? No ... frequent floods are no big deal. Duh!

How much money do you have? An underpass in that area would have an excessive footprint, huge construction costs, and even higher real estate acquisition costs. All to save a handful of minutes for commuter buses or individual drivers. I don't think so.

Their was a locomotive on both sides! Is that because Amtak does not like rear car control like Metra?

What street-location is the camera placed at to catch the train coming out of the tunnel? I do not recall ever seeing this view in the Loop, and I ask because the 'L' is in the background, but I still cannot place the specific location, as somehow the visual frame of reference seems incomplete for some unknown reason. I can't even get a sense of what direction the camera lens is looking down the street.

It seems like double ended locomotive are more common then ever. I swear it destroys some of 'coolness' factor and charm of trains for me tho, cause it's just not as impressive for some abstract reason
