NEW Amtrak Chargers 300 and 301 at Kalamazoo, MI

On a cold Michigan Monday night, Thom and Lindsey drove down to Kalamazoo to see Wolverine 354 on its way from Chicago to Pontiac. Why? Because this special Amtrak train was pulling a test train behind it. The test train consisted of:
P42 number 90
A baggage car
A Horizon car
Brand-new ALC-42 number 300 in Phase VI livery
Brand-new ALC-42 number 301 in Day One livery
This was such an amazing catch.

Great catch! I'm looking forward to seeing the Siemens ALC-42 chargers hit the rails coast-to-coast, but they're about to take over 100% of the long-distance routes including the Southwest Chief, Capitol Limited, Cardinal & Lake Shore Limited.

I just read it! Thanks for leaving that comment, sorry it disappeared. Yeah, the bathroom incident was pretty hilarious. Some of the conversations I had in the lounge car were pretty funny too. The $50 dollar deal was amazing. I think the secret with Amtrak is booking far in advance. I’m looking into an east coast trip around Christmas and an overnight sleeper plus Acela would be around 116.

Awesome catch! I was able to catch the 354 but only after the locomotives had been removed in Jackson. Awesome catch! Do we know when and where the chargers will be testing?
