(NEW) Anakin Skywalker (The Phantom Menace) Star Wars Black Series - REVIEW

In this video, I'll be taking a look at (little) Anakin Skywalker from The Phantom Menace. The figure itself looks great. But, it would have been so nice if he came with a swappable head with either the pod racing helmet or the N-1 Starfighter helmet. He just comes with his backpack. Definitely light on accessories, I would have liked a two pack with naked 3PO or Wado. Great review as always Matt 👍🏻. My fig is in transit and should have it soon.

I like your idea of a 2-pack. Both Watto and 3P0 would have been awesome. Not sure why Hasbro doesn't do "logical" 2-packs more often - especially with smaller figures. Hope yours arrives safe and sound, my friend. Thanks for checking out the video!

Thanks for the great review Matt! If I ignore the fact that the figure lacks accessories it seems like an overall great figure. Can't wait for what else Hasbro has in store for us in this TPM-line. I would love to see a re-released Qui-Gon, padawan Obi-Wan, a TC-14 and OOM-9. For starters ;)

You're quite welcome. Apart having practically nothing - it's a really good figure. I do hope they continue to flesh out some more characters from TPM. Not my favorite movie - but so many great characters. I still need padawan Obi-Wan - I would LOVE to see a re-release of that one. And of course, more droids please. Thanks a bunch for watching!

Very great figure, but he definitely should have came with more accessories. This figure was long overdue in the line and I am very happy to have him! I definitely feel bad on what happened to Jake. I personally really liked Kid Ani.

Good grief he looks lonely in that box!! 😮😮 The last time I saw 'owt that sparse, I was looking at my bald head in the mirror!! 😅😂 I can't not get this as you know about my pree-kwell figure travails... With that new Padders, I'm up to 13 no shows. 😢😢😢 It might be easier to to insist they dunna exist at this point. I got an "offer" last night for Padawan Anakin off ebay for £42... I've been mulling it over in the same fashion as I would, if someone offered to mug me in broad daylight!! 😅 Top review as usual Matt. It's unfortunate the single accessory bost though...😢

I very grudgingly accepted the padders Anakin offer and strangely, I also had an offer for Jedi? Shinobi red/black box 111 for a shade over 50 that I've pulled the trigger on as well... Awful, awful prices, but I don't see them ever being much cheaper, unfortunately. I've now got bile and indigestion and I haven't eaten anything for 9 hours!! Bloody pree-kwells!! At least with getting the original Paddle-me recently, I can finally put those aotc main characters in my rear view collecting mirror though... However, the stench of those ebay prices will cling to me for a long time!!

@@Matt_Bryant As a tangent, I opened Hannah Montana Janna this morning and she is fantastic! Really nice face, interesting, translucent cape, musket, holster, quiver, arrow cluster for quiver, and a very cool large bow weapon, with single arrow that fits well. Tbh, I did pull the trigger hoping she would be interesting, but she far exceeds that. Because I know nothing about her, she's perfect to go with my Saw Gu-ner-no Rebels. Best ten quid I've spent on BS in ages!

I've heard good things about the figure. Unfortunately, a wasted character - they brought her in as another defected Stormtrooper (like Finn), but her story went nowhere. JJ Abrams at his finest. LOL!

I love phantom menace duel of fates is my favorite scenes in the franchise and Mauls and Qui Gon are my favorite characters on both sides.

Yep, and it looks good. It'd be cool if we got a Padawan Anakin when he's this age. He was only on screen for a few seconds, but it would be neat to have in the collection. We shall see... Thanks for watching!

Hasbro…… So it’s a double edged sword. Hasbro should have made this a better offering. You know you should have. But if we speak with our wallets, Hasbro speaks with their omission of production. That is not the kind of practice that demonstrates that fans come first. I have purchased this. I will accessorize to my heart’s content. How freakin’ cool would it have been to have a silly face Jar Jar Binks figure zooming Ani around on his shoulders while he had his arms outstretched wearing the pod racer helmet? It’s ok Micro Galaxy Squadron and Figuarts to the rescue with their offerings of Boonta Eve race pack and new Jar Jar figure. I’ll give them my money Hasbro. It’s like negotiating with a Toydarian being a fan of Hasbro product.

I hear ya. I'm quite sure that if we don't buy something for whatever reason (such a poorly executed figure), Hasbro will probably think, "Oh, they must not want that - or anything similar." It's unfortunate... Swappable heads should be a no-brainer with a lot of characters. I appreciate you watching!

​@@Matt_Bryant I agree, in that I think Hasbro looks at a figure's poor sales and just reasons that the character is unpopular. I doubt it occurs to them that they could've done a better job with say paint, accessories or articulation.

Like a lot of Black Series figs, they nailed the likeness, but skimped on the articulation and paint. Still looks pretty good. The back pack strap coming adrift is unfortunate. Thanks for the review Matt.👍

Yeah, the likeness to a young Jake Lloyd is pretty spot on. But being a small figure (just like a lot of them), I wish there was more in the box. I was able to super glue the straps back on the backpack - I was not expecting that... They just snapped right off. But, it's good as new now. Thanks so much for watching, Jonathan!
