@pamelajohnson92142 ай бұрын
The part that this video is missing is the fact that Hayden chose to take a step back from his career because he wasn't mentally coping too well with the large amount of fame being in SW garnered. That's why he bought a farm in the middle of nowhere in Ontario when episode iii came out. Hayden said during episode iii press that playing Darth Vader would be the biggest thing of his career going forward so he wouldn't bother trying to top that character because it was impossible. Also, he was offered big roles after SW but decided to go back to indie where he'd come from. He was offered Edward in Twilight before Robert Pattinson ( writer of the book series Stephanie Meyer actually wrote the character with him in mind). He also was offered Superman Returns. His agent at the time called him crazy for turning roles like that down. Hayden fired him. The only reason he did Jumper was because Samuel L Jackson asked him to (the studio fired the original lead Tom Sturridge two weeks before filming was starting). It's kinda like what happened with Josh Hartnett who also decided to step back from Hollywood after becoming overwhelmed by fame and has only now come back.

Why did Josh Hartnett step back? I only remember him from O and Wicker Park which were very entertaining but in a second hand embarrassment hilarious kind of way.
@pamelajohnson9214Ай бұрын
@@troysmith5749 Career wise what happened was he was being offered huge roles like Batman that he kept turning down. He said he preferred smaller budget films like 30 Days of Night. This ended up making the major studios and his agent mad. He did not want to deal with the Hollywood politics and let them shape his career based on what they expected him to do. As a result acting became less fun for him. In his personal life as he got more famous he started having stalkers. Some guy showed up to one of his premieres with a gun saying he was Josh's real dad. Btw Josh was raised by his actual dad and stepmother so this guy was just a nutcase. He basically quit acting after that for a long while.

Then there's also the fact that Anakin was older than most Jedi when he was being taught, the fact he never had 'a father' as such and that Obi Wan was more like a big brother to him when he should've been something akin to a surrogate father. And we shouldnt forget that Anakin's freedom came with him having to abandon his mother. I mean if that isnt making you feel guilty and fucked up... As for Padme, for her well he's a cute/handsome boy/man, their relationship is forbidden and he is a man with exceptional talents and probably one of the potentially most powerfull Jedi in the entire GALAXY! I could have done the same thing with Carrie Fisher and Billy Dee Williams. But I don't agree with the whole point. I agree with you. The video is stupid in my opinion. If you look at a few hit movies you will find that there are many actors who have appeared in less than Hayden Christiansen. And sometimes it is because of certain problems and incidents. Sometimes they choose the wrong people, and they don't have the money or the timing is bad. Like why Katie Holmes is in one Batman movie and not the other one. That's because of the schedule apparently. But that is more interesting than this Star Wars video. Just for the views. 😒 But you're onto it. 👍

His Darth Vader moments in RoTS are amazing. The way he looks at those younglings before he ignites the saber. The way he talks to Padme and Obi wan. The way he fights. Overall in RoTS he was amazing. AOTC he did have some cringe moments but again, none of it was his fault. In fact I don't even blame George Lucas because a slave being awkward and cringey when talking to his crush is realistic. Same slave being an emotional wreck is also logical. Fortunetely, Hayden is getting the love he always desserved. He is being appreciated. As a teen I would defend him from all the haters and it's funny some of those hatters now act as his biggest fans. My only two regrets are that he endured so much unneeded stress and that we didn't get to see him in more movies. I also watched Jumped. These movies were a large part of my childhood and I'm sure the people I'm talking about would agree when I say that we never hated the prequel movies. So seeing the return of Hayden was not based on just nostalgia and using that to blind hatred for a couple of movies, but because we genuinely loved seeing Hayden and Ewan and the rest of the cast in those movies and were excited to see them again (which didn't let us down).

To a lot of young people, he WAS anakin, he was the chosen one. You cant just like, shake that off. Look at Mark Hammill, same thing to a lot of people in Gen X, Boomers and Millennials, Hammill is Luke, and nothing else. It just comes down to how influential the character was. Ewan is also just an amazing actor, he also did stuff before star wars like trainspotting that had him cemented in some peoples mind as a serious actor. But if you play a huge influential role, usually the leads of star wars movies end up being heavily typecast not by directors but by the public and critics. I think that for Hammill his saving grace was his pure vocal talent he could do funny voices and imitate people well, so he landed some voice acting roles. Hayden has that nerdy upper class kinda white bread vancouver accent that doesnt really stand out and sounds kinda flat emotionally, and when emotions do come out they seem over exaggerated. Hayden comes off as a sweetheart but awkward, its what made him good at playing an awkward nerdy investor. I really hope he can get some more serious roles and stuff that he likes doing and can actually have fun doing, he is a good person i think just had a bit of bad luck with casters and directors not putting him in the right role for where his actual capability and talent are at. I hope they continue to cast him in future star wars things, even if its just flashback or voice roles. A lot of the kids who appreciated him are now adults, and I think he can finally enjoy some success with that.

I always loved the prequels growing up and I still do now, but... whenever I think of how bad most of Hayden's career went, I imagine someone will explain it saying "have I ever told you about the tragedy of Hayden Christensen", it does make me kinda sad tbh. Not only did I love the movies, but I think his acting is pretty good. Honestly, i'm pretty critical of movies and i'm somewhat critical of actors/actresses as well and I've always thought Hayden was a good actor, maybe not great but good. He NEVER deserved any of this BS, because the issues people had with the prequels (somewhat cringe or campy dialogue, shakespearean nature, etc.) was not his fault (and I personally love that more shakespearean nature of the prequels, cuz I love shakespeare and the somewhat campy dialogue doesn't bother me as a gamer who loves Bethesda Softworks games) But on Hayden specifically, he's a good guy and a good actor and it really sucks that the best years of his life, he was never able to capitalize on in Movies because of... honestly, haters. I hope we see him in more stuff going forward before it's too late.

I feel like nobody recognizes that Hayden changed the cadence of his voice to sound like James Earl Jones' accent. For two whole movies. The guy is super talented and devoted to his craft

I think the main problem was his Anakin character was like Joffrey from Game of Thrones. Where he was younger, more immature and angry about irrational things and people didn't like it but that was the point. That was the character he was supposed to be but people couldn't accept that he could be anything other than that. Can anyone think of a role Jack Gleeson has played since GoT? Nope.

That's such a shame! Jack Gleeson is a really good actor. Really, hollywood will be wasting a competent actor if they avoid him. As you said Gleeson portrayed Joffrey just as the way he was supposed to.

Ah, Hayden. Perhaps we were too harsh on you.

It was never his fault. It was George.

@@edwardhannah8507 Exactly. That one fan in the video coming out from The Phantom Menace didn't want Jake Lloyd to apologize, he felt George Lucas owed us fans one.

I could totally see him having a renaissance in the next few years. Sort of like a Travolta coming back in Pulp Fiction.
