Wouldn’t it be a good idea to look for a possible cause to prevent this in the first place. It’s like treating diabetes with insulin shots rather than reversing it with changing bad lifestyle habits. Just a thought 🤔

So far, the only way to prevent it is being born again to different parents.The eye is an extremely complicated organ...

Too bad the eye drops have not panned out as a replacement for the injections. Really tired of getting poked in the eyes just like many of us.

But does it work?
@TripReviews8 ай бұрын
@@pod8234 apparently the injections have worked after about 7 years of them I have progressed from once a month in each eye to one in each eye every 12 weeks but who knows if this will last? Never know when I’ll need to increase the injections again, when I mean I say apparently they’ve worked I mean that the bleeding and fluid behind the retinas has ceased in one eye slowed down in the other eye. I am not saying there has been improvement in vision as it is still gradually becoming worse.

@@TripReviews thank you for the informative and quick reply. My father has this in both eyes and has lost central vision so it may be too late for him. I live here in the desert so he could see this doctor. Be worth making an appointment at any rate. Good luck to you! I say keep it up!

@@fearless-jp5vk same here, Hamilton. My ophthalmologists I go to if for my glaucoma I go to in Burlington discovered that I have macular degeneration. He put the call out to all the retina specialists in this area. I got a reply in a couple of weeks from a Hamilton specialist who brought me in for tests and his secretary set me up with Bayer the drug company making the medication Eylea to cover some of the cost and the insurance plan I had at work covered the balance, they are expensive. Now that o am retired the drug is covered by the government, thankful for this as I could not ever afford to pay for them. One in each eye every month for quite a few years, now I’m down to one in each eye every 3 months, cross my fingers and hope I never have to go back to more frequent injections. He did say he might retire sooner than you may think amd when he does good luck with getting a replacement retina specialist, they are really far and few between! He said I might have to go to downtown Toronto, wait 6 hours to get a shot, pay $40 to park and the tests that he doesn’t charge for the doctor he’s talking about charges $150. If my doctors retirement comes about I guess I’ll be going more blind than I am, right now I’m just considered legally blind by my glaucoma doctor and the CNIB. good luck with getting a specialist, I know it’s hard to find one and if you are in a rural area or not in Ontario I can imagine it could be even more difficult. I hope you get help soon.

Fluoxetine has been found to decrease the inflammation of the macular. The study was conducted by the university of Virginia please google it. . This might be a treatment for dry AMD.
