Hey I’ve been looking into making a treehouse I have some questions 1) is there pros and cons to making a treehouse on 1 tree 2 or 3 trees if so what are they 2) I want to make my treehouse higher up off the ground like 15 -25 feet, the higher off the ground I go the more the tree shakes meaning what? Are my bolts screws nails wood and what not now more likely to shake is there a way to counter that, is doing the treehouse on 1 tree safer if my higher off the ground? Is there a height limit 3) I plan on building this in New Jersey the weather is strong winds snow and stuff dose that make a difference 4) what kind of wood screws and bolts should I use to insure safety and stability and if I plan on spending extra money to increase safety how much do you estimate it will cost 800? 1000? Much less much more??? Thank you!!!
@MarcelsWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
Hey, I'm not a carpenter or an engineer so I can't tell you the proper way to do anything. I totally just winged it on this and hoped for the best haha. 1) my guess would be the pros to multiple trees is more support and stability and if one breaks you'll probably have more time to escape. The cons would probably be more difficult to reach multiple trees unless you are building low enough a ladder can reach. Also the multiple trees blowing in multiple directions might put a lot of stress on the boards. 2) don't really have an answer for that 3) don't think so, we get all the same stuff here and nothings broken yet haha. Guess just support and re enforce everything more then just the bare minimum. 4) The proper way to do it is use treehouse attachment bolts which are like giant steel rods you drill into the tree then the tree grows around them and you build everything off those supports. They are super expensive though, probably like $70-$200 each depending on the size. I just used a lot of 6" spiral nails for mine and it seemed to do the trick. Equally long screws would be better but more of a pain because you need to rely on a cordless drill that would probably need a re-charge every couple hours, unless you have lots of batteries or are close to AC and can use a corded drill. I just wouldn't use regular smooth nails because they back off and pull out too easy. With wood prices these days its probably going to cost a couple grand, but I guess that all depends on how big and detailed you make it.
