This is my kind of video. I'm a budget guitar lover, and modder. A good Epiphone is hard to beat. A good setup, and maybe a couple upgrades, and you've got a Les Paul that will destroy its much more expensive counterparts. My Korean limited edition, flamed ocean burst Les Paul, is one of my favorite players. It's absolutely a better guitar than my 60's tribute Gibson. I like a lot of the new epiphones, but this one in the video is a real contender. Just wow. I love those "tuxedo" guitars.

Very good and honest review. I wanted to buy this model for a while. In the end, I saved more money and got myself an Eastman SB57 instead. I don’t regret it. And details related to this video: the cavities are the cleanest and have neatest electronics work I have ever seen in a guitar. ☺️

You did the right thing. I went to buy one today, and was pretty shocked at how badly made it was. It looked cheap, and sloppy. I went with a Gibson LP studio instead. It costs more but at least I'll enjoy looking at it while I play it.

I've had my Epi LP Custom Pro for 3 years now. It was made in Indonesia. There are a couple of small differences between it and the one in the video. It has a black tip on the pickup selector rather than cream colored. Also, the headstock is styled like the older model in the video which I prefer. And, it features push/pull pots for coil splitting, a plus. I love this guitar. It's not a Gibson, but at about 1/4 of the cost, it works just fine for me...

I wonder if a veneer maple cap would make any difference to these. Gibson really didn’t employ the maple cap on their Customs until about ‘68 when they also added the 14 degree angle to their head stocks for less string tension. 👍

Thank you sir 🤙 I just got mine , kind of messed up though,I was thinking I was getting split coil. Not finding split coil on anything except for the studio or an older custom pro. A little bummed over that🧐 I probably didn’t need it anyway. Probukers sounds great ! Fun to noodle around on ,effortless string action and a faster neck not sure why maybe it’s the width maybe it’s because it’s 22 fret. Got a lot more bend in the strings than my other guitars, but that might be something as simple as the strings that came on it (got the research). Thanks for the review and letting us have a look under the hood 🤙🤙🤙

This quality of guitars epiphone made them a long time ago with the 2009 1959 epiphone les paul standard came with burstbucker 2 and 3 gibson pickups, and switchcraft toggle switch 500k cts pots and 50s wiring same as the 2020 59 outfit, except it did not come with the brand new headstock you see on yours today and it did not come with a graphtech nut, in 2010 they also released the 1960s epiphone les paul standard v3 with the same specs they only made 1,960 of them and for the 1959 epiphone they only made 1,959 of them but essentially what im saying is, epiphone has been doing this quality of work since way before the 2020 lineup came out

I had one of these from 2000-2001, and it's an amazing sounding guitar, and a beautiful guitar to boot. But I had some issues with the input jack, and it was not as simple of a soldering job as a strat input. I took it to my guy more than twice to get it fixed, finally after the 3rd time, it was fixed permanently. It made the most God awful sound when I was having issues with it. I definitely recommend this guitar, just make sure you got a good dude to send it to if you've got issues.

I had/have Gibsons and an Epi LP Custom. Definitely still have my Gibsons. My Epi is the 4th Epi Les Paul I've had - all 2020 to 2022s. I had a black Custom, a two Bonomassas (one was an accidental shipment) Lazarus, and a white Custom. The Lazurus' had perfectly clean routing. Setups were horrific, as I expected. Despite the USA electronics, they never did anything for me. Excessively heavy too. It's like the wood was wet. Sold one, returned the other. Black Custom. Decent, but nothing special, as expected. White Custom - woah! This one got my attention. Odd neck carve that is thin with small shoulders. Not at all the same as the black one. Weight is very nice too. I'm guessing it's actually in the high 8s based on my Gibsons. Swapped all the electronics out, including push-pull tone pots to coil split the Seymour Duncan JB/Jazz set that are among my favorites. Gotoh bridge, a pro setup and polished frets, and now we're cookin' with grease! I pick up that guitar all the time. Actually, I just put it down. FYI - Not all CTS pots are created equal. 2. Follow your ears and hands, not what the cavities look like, what the pickup specs are. Too many new players get caught up in the interwebs nonsense. Don't rely on strangers to tell you, you have a good guitar, amp, etc. If you like it, rock it!
@stratolestele7611 Жыл бұрын
Oh, and the long-tenon neck has little to do with anything in this guitar. Leave that discussion to the original Gibsons. BTW, Joe Bonomassa prefers the short tenon Les Pauls - for whatever that's worth.

Thanks! Sweetwater is really good about taking care of any issues that might have been overlooked. For instance, I’ve purchased about 10 guitars this year from Sweetwater. Out of the 10, 4 of them had bad blemishes. The worst was the new Epiphone Slash Anaconda Burst. It had a buffing finish burn down to the bare wood on the top of the headstock. 2 separate inspectors signed off on the QC card prior to shipping it to me. Bad QC, however, Sweetwater took very good care of me on those! In the end I can’t complain much. Just look over your order top to bottom once you receive it!

The binding looked terrible, like something from the Flea Market. They put some paint stuff over it that is totally uneven and cheap looking. I ended up going with the Gibson Studio. @@PaulSter You have a keeper for a wife , mine would never buy me a guitar. All she does is complain and ask me why i need so many , i tell her she won't understand. It's not worth the aggravation of explaining it to her because she listens to ""POP CRAP!!! Hope you're enjoying your Strat , i'm not a big Strat guy. I'm more into Schecter , Ibanez , Jackson etc... But couldn't pass on a beautiful custom made blood red Strat that a local luthier made for me.It's one of my favorite guitars now and i don't think i'll ever part with it!!!

A long neck tenon makes absolutely no difference in tone or sustain. People who dwell on it are victims of marketing tactics.

epiphone IMPROVED?????what do you mean????? Every year epi comes out it is THE BEST POSSIBLE THING IN THE WORLD, how could it possibly be improved? Guess what? you bout a BAD guitar, know why? because NEXT year it will be bETTER according to epi.......and when the ef they came with plastic nuts? my 2015 had 500k pots and tusc nut, on paper.......epi equals puke, if you are after stickers and sizes of logos and give birth to a brick over it.....epi is for you.......if you want a guitar with a soul, buy cheapest Gibson, the real deal

I'll never get rid of my 70's Les Pauls, these so called Epi's I'm sure are made in China. Lousy work done, full of wood chips, drill holes are terrible, Parts, Hardware, just Garbage Chinese Work
