It works in majority of cars equipped with Apple Carplay function. Doesn't have to be a Mercedes. 2015 E-Class didn't have Apple Carplay available, so unfortunately it will not work.

Hi, in a previous video, you were able to use this box without touch screen and simply use your cars control mouse pad and buttons... Is this possible on my new Lexus 2022? I have a touchscreen but would rather use my factory mouse pad and buttons.. my current carlink dongle box does not support

@@MBZMaster the Lexus has the mouse pad in the center console so as long as it works, they can use that. I'm just concerned because no android box I've tried works with the mouse pad... I can see the cursor moving on the screen but it won't select anything using the mouse pad and enter button for any of the Android apps... I just ordered and received mine. After iOS16.1 update on iPhones connecting to wireless Car Play has become inconsistent. I can still connect but it now takes several attempts. However, the Android portion of the Box works well, I connected the Box to the Wi-Fi of my car, and it has performed flawlessly. I wanted to Thank you for demonstrating how to use Google Assistant I was not holding my steering wheel control long enough for the Assistant to listen to me. I've installed Disney+, Hulu, Frontier TV and SiriusXM. Its best to download APK's and Play Store updates using the Wi-Fi from the house using the remote, like you demonstrated. For anyone having issues with getting Disney+ to work correctly the APK that works the best is from July 14, 2022, it is 2.9.1-rc1. The most recent one 2.13.0-rc3 will allow log in but will crash the app trying to stream a video. When I received my box Netflix needed to be updated for it to allow login, I downloaded the most recent Netflix APK using my home Wi-Fi and installed it using APK installer and that solved the problem. Thanks for this great orientation.

i bought a carlinkit video box for traveling. we love it! i bought it for when i travel with my children, but yesterday we went to my father’s house 3 hrs away and my husband decided to watch a movie(i was driving and listening to it) on our drive home yesterday while stuck in traffic. it made a irritating time for my husband go by so much faster and i didn’t have to listen to his complaining, which made for a much nicer 3 hour drive.

This Box has to readjust the resolution by itself. So it may adjust in different cars differently, based on specs of the display and its compatible output. For example, it displays in full 12.3" on the Mercedes E-Class, but in Mercedes GLS-Class, it displays at 16 x 9 aspect ratio. Also, some apps are designed to display only at 16 x 9 aspect ratio, like a KZbin player for instance... otherwise the video size will be crooked.

I'm pretty sure yes. If the car has HDMI rear screens for example, they can be used at the same time as the front. They all will show the same thing, since there is only one receiver anyway. It still requires USB connection, a I showed in this video.

Great video and great device. I have a question which some other people have asked where their own car does not have Apple Carplay/Android Auto. I have a W205 2015 (UK model) C250. It does not have Android Auto/Carplay activated. I have seen ODB devices which claim to be able to activate Carplay when connected via the OBD port. Most models are noted (A, B, GLE etc) but my 2015 W205 does not seem to be covered, perhaps because it has NTG5.2 Comand installed on the 8.4" screen. Can you tell me if there is a way to activate carplay/android auto or do I have only one choice which is the more expensive option and I would have to replace the screen with a 10/12" type. There's no way to add the Smartphone functionalities to your system. You'd need to replace the whole system for something more modern or add some aftermarket accessories.

I'm having an issue. My mmb is does not stay connected when Apple play loads and plays the count down graphic. The blue is solid on the MMB after the graphic plays, the Apple car play connection disconnects from the mmb. I already setup this device inside my home and the device setup worked as described in your video.

Did you go to Settings and setup your Wi-Fi hotspot from your phone? Your cell phone hotspot connection inside your car is different than your home Wi-Fi connection. Many cell phones disconnect the hotspot automatically if you don't use it for a while, but this Box requires internet. So I turn the hotspot on my phone every time I get inside my car. You can mirror your Smartphone to the screen. For example, Turn the Android Auto on your smartphone and project it to the car screen, as I showed in my other video here: bit.ly/MBZM-Smart . But hotspot is a better alternative. Wireless Apple Carplay also needs an internet hotspot.

I think the Media folder needs to take the data from an external drive. You can get an external USB drive and connect it permanently via cable.

I have done some research and found that my car has mbux 548 instead of 549, so i cannot watch videos on there. This Box doesn't have Android Auto (unless you mirror your phone). Instead, it has Android OS, which comes with Google Maps, Assistant, KZbin etc...

I haven't tried, but it wouldn't work unless your monitor is equipped with Apple Carplay. Then you just do usb-c to usb-c. Otherwise, HDMI to HDMI, as I showed in this video.

How can you allow an Android Tablet / Smart Phone to play AM / FM Radio Stations without data access - a USB Module using an Auto Antenna? For a Android Tablet Headset car install.

To catch the radio waves, you need a tuner and antenna. Android tablet isn't suppose to have either. There are lots of radio apps, but they all require an internet, or Wi-fi hotspot from your cell phone. But the Box in this video can work together with the radio of your car, as I've shown at 20:51 timestamp.

This Box operates on Android OS, it just needs your phone for an internet connection. It's like a standalone computer, which works independently from your phone. It has it's own KZbin and Netflix apps. So, it doesn't matter what kind of phone you have iPhone or Android. It will work with both.

So this Box is not the best, but everything else on the market is even worse! This Box works independently from your phone, you just need to setup a hot spot on your phone, so it can get internet. Personally, I use this Box just to play KZbin and stream some Podcasts. I use it for a year now, and don't have a lot of issues, except when I drive in the area with bad reception. Hi I just had this delivered. I have a couple of issues: 1. When I use the next/previous button on my steering wheel to try to advance the playing media it highlights the text in Google maps instead. 2. And probably most annoying; is there away to remove or avoid that video at the startup? I really hate seeing it! I know you can mute the sound, but that is not enough for me. I want it removed altogether, otherwise I an thinking of returning the device

The text in the green box on Google maps - that has the directions where you are going.. it gets highlighted when I use the next/previous buttons on my steering wheel. Then when I select the music player I'm using (via Android Auto wirelessly), it selects shuffle! Completely unintended action! Is there a way to remove that intro video...? Yes, but there are different manufacturers and brands. Check what brand/model you have (usually it says on the Box) and you can always contact the company directly on their website. They can send you a software update via their manufacturer links.

Hi MBZ Master, will this device work on a 2018 E220 Premium which has a cell phone USB port in centre consul. My android phone with Android Auto installed will not connect with the car screen through the USB and my dealer said android auto or apple car play was not loaded in the car computer system from new so it won't connect with my phone. So I am wondering if this will work or will it be just the same thing because the car computer is not capable of connecting with external devices. In the U.S., every E-Class from 2017 and up - is equipped with both Apple Carplay and Android Auto as a standard equipment. But we didn't have E220 model here, it started from E300. Not every USB works with the Smartphone integration, it has to have little phone icon. On E-Class, it supposed to be inside the ashtray compartment in the middle. This Box will not work without Apple Carplay, because it uses to connect to your car. So, make sure you have it before ordering.

Then your car has it for sure! Reinstall AA on your phone. Then go to CONNECT in your screen menu and pick Android Auto

For some reason it does not work. I have tried it several times. The local dealer said that AA integration has to be ordered when buying the car new and it would require an expensive reconfiguring of the system software to install it now. That's why I thought your box may be able to bypass the in-built software. Apparently AA was only installed after 2019 without a special order. Seems silly when they fitted the USB with the phone icon in the 2018 cars.

My car does not have Apple Carplay/Android Auto but it does have an HDMI input. Can I use this as a standalone android box for my car?

If you have HDMI input, you can still use this Box as a standalone and use your vehicle screen as a display (without control). You still need a USB input for power, as I showed in the video. However you won't be able to control it from your car, so you have to get it together with the Android Remote control. Also some functionality won't work, like wireless Apple Carplay, or Android Auto. But you can use the existing Android OS, including KZbin, which is already built-inside the Box.

@@mapc0107 No - Carplay/Android Auto, and no steering wheel control, or any other vehicle control. Your car screen will serve as a display (like TV). The Box has Google Maps app and Google Play store. It will work the same way as I showed in the video, when I connected this box to a home computer.

This Box requires your car to have an Apple Carplay functionality. I don't think 2013 model had it, unless you replaced your audio system for a new one.

Will this box allow casting of apps like Netflix, Hulu, youtube, etc. without the screen needing to be on like in screen mirroring? Will it cast stream services like Netflix, Amazon prime, etc and the user be able to do other functions on the phone (text, phone call, internet search, etc) without stopping the stream / cast on the vehicle screen? And will do this on Android auto? I have android, so can't use carplay. It connects wirelessly to phones, does it also charge wirelessly?

Yes, you can, mirror and cast, but if you want to watch KZbin and Netflix, you can play directly from the apps in the Box. Also, it has its own Google Play store to download more apps, as it has built in Android OS. Watch the user guide demo here: mbzmaster.com/multimedia-video-box/ . It doesn't need charging, just plug via USB input which is used to connect to Apple Carplay.

It will work regardless of what kind of phone or its OS. The Box has its own Android 11 OS. You just need to login to your Google account and have everything there. It works independently from your phone, it's like a little computer. You just need your phone to provide the hotspot inside the car.

Do you not know that a 42MB file size is very small? If this was 42GB it would have been a huge file.

It depends. Where you download from, on what network, and at what speed. As you saw in the video, I was downloading Google Maps update inside the car... just 31Mb. It took 11 minutes! That is a pretty big file, considering that it was downloading from the Google Play store using my cell phone's hotspot in the area with the ok reception. But even when I downloaded it at home, 43 Mb took about 90 seconds, which is very slow. I have super fast AT&T Fiber 1Gbps internet, the fastest in the U.S.

It's as fast as your hotspot connection. Some services offer hotspot faster than regular ones, but most should handle the KZbin streaming, unless there is a bad reception in your area.
