After buying a new phone - Charge the battery to 100% and discharge it to 0% just once so battery is properly calibrated (maybe not necessary if newer technology batteries don't need any kind of calibration) After that, never charge your battery to 100% or discharge to 0%, what this does is completes one cycle of charge and every battery has limited number of cycles. So if you want your battery to survive longer, charge it to 90% (just not 100%) and discharge it upto 5-10% (just not 0%), you can charge your battery to 100% in emergencies if you want longer back when you wouldn't be able to charge the battery for 2-3 days.
