I can understand you didn't care for this person's comment and what was said about the Russian people. Then you turn right around and do exactly what you didn't appreciate. That's pretty hypocritical. Euros LOVE judging the U.S. Don't you have your own demons of past history and quite a few current issues? Yes, why yes you do. A little introspection before you start to point fingers chief.

The room with the balcony should definitely be like the master bedroom and the smaller one your daughter's. Also you can have a stackable washer/dryer and a smaller powder room. One bathroom is tough. Your daughter is growing and she will need her space. But congrats on your new purchase.

Pretty building. That's going to be a nice apartment when it's finished. Good layout. I like your idea about expanding the kitchen into the balcony -- that would make a great dining room, with a view! In America we would call that a 2-bedroom 2-bath apartment, with a total of 6 or 7 rooms depending if you count the entryway as a room or not. I guess there you count rooms differently! 2nd bathroom is good place for washing machine, since it has plumbing, yes? or is there enough room in the main bathroom for it to go there? The small balcony would be a good workroom or maybe playroom for your daughter. Also good idea about the neighbor and using the landing area for bicycles and such. Those are radiators on the walls, yes? would be interesting to learn about the building's heating system. Look forward to seeing how you finish your new home. Congrats on making a step up!
@destroyer666789 жыл бұрын
+Rez Zircon In Russia we count only living rooms. There is central heating system in Russia. Big heating stations heat all city.
@sapphirecamui64479 жыл бұрын
+Rez Zircon in romania, a 2 room apartment means it only has 1 bedroom and the living room [not counting hallways, the kitchen, bathroom, or pantry - which may not even exist]. it seems romanians and russians define apartments in an identical way. It's interesting to discover how people in various countries define houses/ apartments based on the no. of rooms that are used for sleeping/ living in. Romanians generally eat in the kitchen, unless there are guests coming over. oh, we also have 1-room apartments: the living room serves as bedroom as well. o.o :D
@realrussiablog9 жыл бұрын
+Rez Zircon As SakhDestr already said, In Russia we really count only actual rooms. Those radiators are near the walls but not on the walls. They are not mounted into it, if you meant that. There enough of space in the main bathroom for all - bath, toilet, sink and washing machine. That's why I think about something else in the "second" bathroom.
@Reziac9 жыл бұрын
+Sapphire Camui We would call that one-room, no-bedroom apartment a "bachelor apartment". Sometimes they have a Murphy bed (that folds down from the wall), but more often people use a futon as a bed. Americans mostly eat in the kitchen too -- if there is a dining room, it's often only used for special dinners. Tho mine is my computer room. :)
@Reziac9 жыл бұрын
+SakhDestr Some older cities in U.S. have central heating that handles multiple buildings, but newer apartment buildings usually either have a single heating/cooling system for each building, or individual heaters and air conditioners in each apartment.

Hi Sergey, Very nice place you have there and I think it has huge potential. I am a little jealous, I would love a project like that for myself. That second space would be a good place to put your washing machine, dryer cleaning stuff and storage for other things you don't want visitors to have to look at. I like the idea of taking out the half wall onto your balcony from the kitchen, and if I was you, I would probably put a set of double width doors into the living area. I am not sure if that is normal in Russia, but here in New Zealand it is trendy for the kitchen to be part of the living space. We did that in the last house we renovated and the Mrs really liked it. She could watch TV while she was cooking. I look forward to seeing the finished apartment! Chris

What other expenses will you have? Will you pay cost for heating and hot water? For garbage removal? Electricity? Taxes? Costs of other building repairs? Do you have an estimate how much it will cost to 'finish' the condo(short for condominium).
@realrussiablog9 жыл бұрын
+tepastrick2276 Yes, I will. Heating, hot and cold water, electricity, elevator, garbage removal are all will be included in a one bill - mothly utility bill. It will be a paper with all of those positions specified. There will be written how much money you have to pay for each position. Later, as soon as I will receive a first bill, I will show it in a video. What about a cost of finish... it may vary a lot. Everything just depends on your budget and phantasy. I have started collecting a receipts of all my purchases for "finish" and will updating all of this information in my next videos about it. In the end of all, we will have a final statement of how much I've paid for materials and service of workers.

use the 2nd bath for a laundry washer and dryer, you may still have room for a 1/2 bath- (toilet and very small sink). even smaller- The Japanese have a toilet with a small sink built in the top of the back of the toilet. Water is fed with a small pipe for washing hands then drains down to the tank for flushing

+DizzzyKipper Yes. In Russia it's a common thing when they they sell an apartment which is supposed to be finished by the owners and I can say that this is a good option for most of people. Because most of people prefer to make their own finish. Very often finished apartments people need to re-renovate again but it cost even more expensive because they have to demolish a "default" finish at first.

Fantastic video Sergey! Congratulations to you and your family for getting into a bigger apartment. My fiancée and I are looking for apartments in Tokyo now, and I can tell you that 94m2 is VERY big compared to the average here! What I also found interesting, is the style of the new apartment block - to me, it's very indicative of Russian style, and I love it! Just looking at it fills me with excitement and joy at the thought of me visiting Russia very soon. I was hoping to fly to Vladivostok, stop off in Khabarovsk on the way through Siberia, tak a break at Lake Baikal, and onto Ufa; before moving forward to Moscow and St Petersburg... There are just so many places to visit, Volgograd too - I want to pay my respects at _The Motherland Calls_ statue on _Mamaev Kurgan_. For me, the _Battle of Stalingrad_ is in the top three most pivotal moments of WWII; along with the _Battle of Britain_ and the U.S.A. joining on the Allied side. Anyway enough ranting, I went off track there, but I hope I gave you an idea of the passion I have for visiting Russia, and of how inspiring your videos are to me (no matter how daft that might sound!). Keep on truckin' man! Much love from the U.K. and Japan! ありがとうございます! あなたはかっこいいですよ! Спасибо большое!

WOW...thank you for allowing the world to have a look at Russia. I am amazed to see the walls which are just gray brick and cement. I do not see insulation, it must be very hard to keep warm in the winter !....Here in NYC we have a mix of both, concrete and Wood...which it really helps a lot in the winter....Great video !

"it must be very hard to keep warm in the winter !" ======== are you even serious suggesting that russians in russia don't know how to keep warm in the RUSSIAN winter ???????????

Wood in 20 story buildings? Walls in Russian houses are very thick (from 1 to 2 feet depending on materials and location in the country). Every single building has triple or double pane windows. Every entrance has 2 doors to protect warm air from escaping the buildings. Pipes are always underground (except regions with permafrost) at the depth of at least 2 meters (6.5ft). All the buildings have heaters not only inside apartments (or offices/classes/etc. in public buildings) but also on staircases, in entry rooms etc. Also every building always has half-basement to protect the first floor from cold ground, etc. Temperature inside Russian apartments in winter must not lower than +18C or +65F. If it is below +18C, it usually leads to big scandals in local or even federal news. On average, it is about +22-24C (+72-75F). In general, Russian apartments are much warmer than any residential buildings in the Western World. Russians are so used to comfort of their warm houses, that they freeze everywhere except tropics and equatorial areas in winter.

I have a question~~~How warm do the apartments get in winter? What options do you have for heating and cooling?
@farlajones82316 жыл бұрын
in Russian cities there is central heating system - one hot water plant serves the whole neighbourhood of many buildings - no individual boilers - heat provided by hot water running in special batteries in rooms under the windows, it is enough to keep warm even when frosts are severe - believe me Russians are expirienced how to fight against frosts... very few buy additional electric heaters - 99% are OK with those central heating water systems

Could the balcony be used to grow vegetables?
@adityarios9 жыл бұрын
After breaking the windows and the wall convert it into a place to sit and drink tea and also grow some plants :)

+adityarios If the balcony faced South, I would grow tomato plants for tomatoes all year around. I've done it before and they taste every bit as good as from outdoors.
