We live in America. I pay $928 for the privilege of living around junkies, mice, and roaches in the apartment. The owners and managers won't take measures needed to get rid of all three. We would live to live in this apartment for $500 with that incredible shower. We wouldn't care about the washer/dryer in the dining area. PS: Our cat would love the balcony and windows.

A benefit of having a washing machine in the dining room next to the table is that if you happen to drop a bunch of messy food all over your clothes you can rip them off and dump them in the machine without ending your meal or getting off the chair.😁

Wow, Those apartments are far nicer than anything you can rent for that price here in the UK, for that price you'd be lucky to get anything more than a 1 bedroom place, in a not very nice neighborhood. We also call it a clothes horse. I had a 1 bedroom flat that had damp and a number of other issues that was £465 a month, This apartment equates to around £398 a month. Mind boggling. Right i'm off to Kyrgyzstan.

Wow. How did you end up in Bishkek of all places? It's probably worth mentioning that this is a remote mountainous area. It looks very very quiet, birds singing, no disturbances of any kind, seems very peaceful and nice trees everywhere. From what I know this area is also fairly warm, so you might feel at home there. It is probably not as hot as Australia, but I imagine much warmer than Moscow. In UK such buildings are called "gated communities" and they are exactly the same. Have fence, gate, door entry for residents only. But in UK you would pay £5K for this. Not $500. The flat looks really spacious and with lots of light. Considering you are in a remote area, there's every possible convenience there. And seeing apricots is much nicer than a busy nasty road with car fumes which is what you'd get in cities like London :-)

I refer to the engineered floors as ‘laminate’ floors. Really smart apart with that large lounge and tall ceilings. The decor reminds me of the villa my folks had when they lived in Dubai for a few years. $500 per month is the same as £398 per month here in the UK and that’s the bargain of the century! £398 per month here will barely get you a single room bedsit. This spacious apartment would cost you at least $2.5-3k here! And that’s being conservative. Mind blowing. Great video!

Yes. Laminate flooring. My house is wall to wall laminate. Vacuuming is easier because all you have to do is vacuumed, but it's a bite when carpet gets dirty. Laminate cleaning? First sweep. Then wash (with very little water).

It seems a bit odd that with all the storage around the apartment they could have made a cabinet around the washer machine to hide it. If they could hide the dishwasher they could've made steps for it too. Also as for the oddly placed furniture the living room it's pretty big, it could be broken up to make a proper office space towards the windows where the pillar sits.

That is a Steam Shower (about $5K just for the unit in the USA) - they take a LOT of water pressure and hot water to run well. I suspect that is why they put the hot water heater up above it. (it also will have a "steam generator" as well) I am not sure why they aren't more popular in the USA given they aren't THAT expensive compared to a house.

I can see why this is called a luxury apartment. The marble foyer, elaborate woodwork and ceilings, and super jacuzzi shower are special. In my opinion the dining room is sitting in the perfect location for a large kitchen which would explain why the washing machine sits there. The dining table should be shifted to part of the living/lounge area and the TV located there as well. The glass door cabinet could be split and rearranged to serve both the dining room and kitchen. It looks like the buildings around would give a beautiful night time city scape with all the lights of the city. That is such a big thing if you live in a large city in the USA, the lights from the city. Of course those of us that live in the Country, it's the quiet peacefulness, and not having a ton of city lights. This was a great video, as always! Those doors looks more like a security door than just a simply sturdy door….and the double key is (or was) a standard in most countries whenever you install(ed) a security door instead of a normal one - I remember my house from when I was a teenager (over 20 years ago) having a security door with the double key. Back then security doors were quite expensive, but since today the newer ones are likely more smart-home getting a basic one with double key (if they still exist) should be not that costly anymore.

These kinds of apartments are called "Elite" opposed to soviet apartments. Usually cheaply built and often not properly maintained, as shown in this video. There are actually good apartment complexes/condos here in Bishkek, these would set you back 2-3-4 times the price of the one shown. Pretty much every newer(2000s and up) apartment building, regardless of price and quality here in Bishkek is called "Elite" for some reason.

Sounds like elite is used as luxury is used in other counties. Maybe something that loses in the translation.

The average salary in Kyrgyzstan is $358/month USD. At $500/month, this apartment is far beyond the means of the average person.
@lobo_que7928
@lobo_que7928 10 ай бұрын
@@edennis8578 What you said is only partially true. First, most Kyrgyzstanis own their homes/apartments. Second, the salaries in Bishkek are above contry averages (not to mention the grey economy reality of this country, meaning that a big part of peoples income isn't accounted for). Third, the rent prices are still inflated by the influx of Russians fleeing from mobilization and political stuff. Still, the place looks somewhat run-down and poorly maintained, which conflicts with the "elite" or "luxury" status people assign to this kind of property.

This apartment would be $660 CDN. Where I live there is no apartment for $660. Even if you say the building is poorly built and run down, it's still a good price. What matters is whether or not a single person or family can afford a rental with an average wage.

We call that a clothes drying rack in America. In that instance I would have the washer out on the patio where the clothes drying rack is. I cannot believe the price of that apartment but is it relative to the income?

Great tour, Russell! Loved the bath and built in cabinets. The column in the living room is odd. That room needs to be an open space. The washing machine in the dining room is different, but easily solved. There should be a second bath with room for a washing machine. While we’re at it, why aren’t there dryers? The kitchen is cute, but I agree that it’s too small. I’m in the US. Nice video.

Thank you for your videos into the living situations in different countries, it makes me truly greatful for what I have and the wonderful country I'm currently living in. I'm from the UK but now a resident in Perth WA. I can honestly say the decor & colour schemes are horrible. I did like the kitchen design as I'm used to small kitchens, but dark green cupboard doors for a small kitchen is a definate no. The wallpaper looks like something from the 70's, I'd have to strip it and paint the walls. The fully opening windows in the stairwell are a safety worry. Are there any safety locks to prevent the window fully opening & someone climbing out? On the plus side it was spacious and I loved that shower unit. The view was great even if it was a footy pitch. The washer would have to find a new home. the balcony maybe? Would I live there? Only if had to, but voluntarily no.

Professor Russell, kitchens in NYC or St Louis, MO were “small”. Men or women worked quickly, then, closed the door to the kitchen. The question asked, Do you want top of the line shower? If so, then are you okay with washing machine NOT in the bathroom or “laundry room”. The good news is that… you can do your washing if you an tolerate the noise. The bad news is… always have a basin to collect accidental spillage. In this way, your Hollywood Shower, isn’t disturbed secondary to clothes washing needs. Best regards, Nurse Jane

It is strange that the washer is in the dining room but that wouldn’t necessarily bother me. I guess it all depends on how particular you are about your home. For me as long as it’s a decent roof over my head I’m okay.

A very lovely apartment for sure. I would rent it on a temporary basis but I would not buy it as it is now. The space is huge but it was poorly designed in my opinion. That kitchen is way too small and the washer does not belong in the dining room. There is so much room in the couch area and that could've been a little smaller to allow the kitchen more room. I do love all the windows in the couch area and I would have that filled with plants. It seems like a lovely area as well. Some you showed in Moscow seemed a little run down, or not kept up. It looked tired. It badly needed some landscaping. But here seems a little brighter, happier maybe? But I did overall like this apartment.

I could easily live in this apartment however the washing machine would need a better place like build a hidden cabinet for it so it just looks like a small cabinet not just stuck there like that. The kitchen is actually very nice and is in reality when you consider the cabinet's it has and a dishwasher better than the kitchen I had in my duplex apartment I lived in fo close to 18 years in Ventura, CA.

You should definitely show other elite appartments in Bishkek. The flat you showed in a video is not the best one. You can clearly see this from the most beginning as light switches are not even aligned and as you notice placed on a wrong side :) Consider visiting apartments from Avangard style building company. I lived in Bishkek for 6 months and Avangard style appartments are considered to be the best in a city as far as I know.

There were a massive rent rise in a Bishkek recently as a lof of russians moved there since february and september of 2022 so now it is really rare to find a really nice 1-2 bedrooms option in a $500-$600 price range

I'm wondering how those russians are gunding themselves now and whether or when they go back to be mobilised that the property market crashes. As we say in the uk, make hay while the sun shines and put a lot away for a (the) rainy day when everything crashes again.

Good sized apartment, I’ve noticed none of the apartments have a en-suite in the master bedroom, in a lot of modern built houses now in uk you can end up with two en-suite a toilet on the ground floor and a family bathroom in a four bedroom house. Knock a en-suite of for a three bedroom house. Rental for that apartment is cheap for a two bed apartment, a two bedroom new town house in West Yorkshire is £1000 pounds a month to rent.

Parking in heated garage included within the rent. The condo includes a dishwasher, microwave, washer & druer.
