Hi! Houseplant enthusiast here, when you repot your spider plant, leave some space between the top of soil level and top of pot (about 1-2 inches), as their roots will get think and fleshy, causing them to slowly force the plant out of the pot and need to repot more often. And I would recommend setting it higher up cause they will send out shoots that will drape further down over the pot and can grow 1-2 feet long and grow new baby spider plants on them (which you can cut off and repot once you see roots growing on them). Hope this helps🥰🥰 excited for your houseplant journey!! Also Philodendrons are great low light, easy growing plants that you can forget to water for a couple weeks and they’ll still (usually) stay alive. They are a vining plant that would look super cute on your bookshelves when you get them or as a hanging basket☺️☺️

I put terra cota plant pots on my white window sill and happened to move them one day and noticed black rings. Here the terra cota is porous yes but I think that was mold starting so I had to put clear wipable shelf liners underneath so fyi to prevent that happening to you:)

Fittonias are my FAVORITE non-toxic low light plants!!!! They're super dramatic plants that completely wilt once their soil gets dry and pop back up completely within 12 hours!! So pretty and easy to take care of!!
@em_harring3 жыл бұрын
re: houseplants: ferns love humidity and will crisp up so quickly in a dry/drafty place. If you happen to have a window in the bathroom it would love it in there. As people have said, philodendrons or pothos are great low light plants, but they are mildly toxic. You could try getting Pepe cat grass so he has his own little plant, and that might deter him from other plants. That's currently what I'm doing with my kitten and it seems to be working. You could also try a peperomia obtusifolia (not the variegated kind), african violets, and any calathea (though they will need extra humidity as well).

so excited to see how you're new space turns out! a plant tip for you is to bottom water your plants, which you can easily do by keeping the plant in the plastic nursery pot it came in and then put that plastic pot in the terracotta pot and water it directly into the teracotta pot slowly and little by little you can put water in the terracotta pot and then watch the plant drink as much as it needs and keep going until its drinking less water / not absorbing the water as much. thats my go to when i have pots that are too big for my plants and im waiting to repot them but also easy for beginners

Cat-safe and indirect light plant recommendations: Tillandsia varieties (common name: Air plants), Nephrolepis exaltata (common name: Boston fern), Hoya carnosa (common name: Wax plant), Maranta leuconeura (common name: Prayer plant), Schlumbergera (common name: Christmas Cactus), Calathea lancifolia (common name: Rattlesnake plant), and Asplenium nidus (common name: Bird's nest fern). There's plenty more and some in the list may be more flexible on light amount, but generally if you have questions on plant care don't be afraid to ask employees at your local plant nursery. Plant nerds love plant questions and may even give some great ideas.

Some plants that will do pretty well in your new place can be a zz plant, pothos, snake plants, and calatheas (as long as you make it humid enough for them). I've been watching you for a couple of years!! the place is coming along nicely!!

Shower curtain- buy a tension shower rod so you can use your existing/ standard length shower curtains. Mis match towels. If they are still in ok condition you could dye them with machine dye. I’ve don’t it before and although they didn’t all come out the exact same shade (we used grey dye for one set and purple for the other set), they did look good together as they were all different shades of the same colours.

Plants that I own and love that are safe for cats: Burro's Tail Calathea (does well in lower light and prayer plants are always fun) a lot of succulent type plants are safe but don't do super well in lower light. My Haworthia's don't tend to stretch all that much in bright, indirect light though! Hoya (most, if not all, are non-toxic I believe) Money Tree I mean there are a TON you can get. I don't currently have cats, but I used to have 3 indoor cats and I had a long rectangular planter that I planted a bunch of cat grass in and kept it accessible to the cats. I also occasionally grew catnip and other herbs that were cat safe. I think giving them easily accessible planty stuff kept their attention away from the harder to reach plants

Loving these apartment hauls and decorating vlogs. So happy for y'alls new home!!

They are toxic but I don't think the leaves are that enticing to cats, but it depends on the cats. Our cats only try to eat plants that have leaves that are more grass like so they leave our snake plant alone.

For good budget/minimalistic kitchen items, I would recommend getting the Cook n Home Wok ($24). I own three of them lol Great for stir frying, deep frying and Ive even used it for boiling water! Great multi use pan.
