Nice machine. Gareth was cringing though because of the risk of a blunt blade binding. He’s seen too many joiners lose hands. Is it a bit of a design flaw to have the exhaust at head height when you’re starting it.

lol yes it really did blast smoke into my face. I think I'll be using the electric starter for that reason if nothing else. Yes the blade is a bit blunt, not too bad, I'll give it a sharpen before I put it to proper use. I agree it's not a machine for the naturally accident prone, bits will come off!

lol yes 9hp of Ruston Diesel would do a nice job on an arm or a leg. Care definitely required.

Your blade most definitely needs sharpened. I noticed friction burns on the ends of the cut logs....sure sign of dull blade. Lovely old machine all the same.

Thanks for watching, yes the blade on there is in need of a good sharpening. I might even change it for a new TCT blade. I'm currently looking at building a simple robotic ram to push timber through the blade so I don't have to be too close to it!

Hi Miles, I don't know what to say, I want to be positive but I don't like watching, being around, and most defiantly using a bench saw. Please be careful, make a jig with ply that slides the logs into the blade so that your hands are on the jig, nothing fancy ply and 4x2 or 6x2, make a good riving knife for the rear and buy a TCT 600mm blade spray it with silicone spray and half a tyre over it for safety. I say all this with respect. I am not sure how KZbin Etiquette works for contacting you, I've left a message on your work phone with my contact number, I was wondering if you would have any objections to meeting to discus common interests, not (bench saws) lol. Love the engine, beauty. Ran the CS the other day for eight hours on a liter of oil, no load.

Hey there Nautilus thanks for watching. I know what you mean, bench saws are pretty scary machines and capable of doing horrific damage in an accident. But then I could say that about any of the tools I use day to day, and a steady and patient approach has served me well for many years. I do intend to fabricate a sliding jig and pusher-stick for it, but it's going to be a while before I have this set up in it's own shelter and ready for work. Thanks for leaving a message on the work phone, I'll pick that up next time I'm in the office and give you a call.
