First part of the name is like "gotcha" but I believe with accent on the second syllable - Gah CHAR ik Spin This song is like a defiant declaration of independence. Notice the young lead singer begins in a depressed state, and then is revealed to be at a huge school. At one point she dumps her bag with school supplies out onto the steps, then grabs scissors and cuts her hair, and then suddenly it's bright pink. Japanese schools typically require black hair kept a certain length. If your natural hair is brown or blond or (gasp) red, you will need a doctor's letter certifying it is your natural hair color to attend school. So cutting and coloring her hair (and brightly!) signifies rebellion and a departure from the school system. Her mind is set on freeing herself. And at the end, she is running and dancing on the overhead walkway AWAY from the school. The group was founded 15 years ago by F Chopper Koga (bass) and Hana (drums, here, lately more often on second guitar and second vocals). They have had some changes of personnel, not many though. The current lineup also includes Tomo-Zo (lead guitar), Yuri (newer drummer, on maternity leave here, not in this video), Oreo Reona (keyboards and some vocals), and "Angelina 1/3" on lead vocals and pink hair, here. Angie "1/3" because her 3 main ethnicities identified are Japanese, Filipina, and Spanish.

This is such a great take! The singer’s journey from feeling stuck to breaking free is so powerful. Cutting and dyeing her hair pink, especially with how strict Japanese schools are, feels like such a bold act of rebellion. That final scene of her running and dancing away really captures her freedom! I'm stuck on that part because sonically it sounds beautiful! I also love the backstory on the band and Angelina 1/3-her name and heritage are so unique. Thanks for sharing; it gave me a whole new appreciation for the video!

There are 6 members in the band, but in this video there are only 5 of them since the current drummer was on maternity leave. The previous drummer (and now second guitarist) was on drums on this, she is a multi-instrumentalist and can basically play any of the instruments in this band (probably not to the extent the others can, but still) and then some. They are amazing live with loads of energy and a clear goal of entertaining the audience.

Yesterday was the 15th anniversary concert in Japan. I discovered them in 2016 when I was planning my trip to Japan and found Wagakki Band - then KZbin present me BabyMetal, which I skipped, then Band Maid that at first I thought it would be for a second or third listening and after this Lovebites and Gacharic Spin were suggested and accepted. Last year I got East of Eden, and the four of them are my favorite band: Band Maid Gacharic Spin East of Eden Lovebites in this order. Lovebites is the forth due to the heavy metal that is not my favorite dish. I am form the progressive rock era.
