I agree. Sutcliffe and Harris are not putting out content as often, and I liked Jethro's content better before his switch to Motor Trend. That leaves Henry as my favorite presenter and Carfection as my favorite Channel.

Quite an expensive option too, that green detail is part of the 'Exterior Graphics Pack' which is only available with the carbon fibre 'Exterior Body Pack'... so you can save a few grand if you don't like it.

Mani Mirbagheri people always always always bash new car designs... Literally... No matter what new design comes out people will always prefer the old one better no matter what.... But just wait few years then they will look back and call this good looking and the cycle repeats. Even though I personally like it over the old one. Are their better looking cars out there? For sure but its still very beautiful in its own respect.

Great review as always, Henry! I am just curious what are the direct competitors of this Vantage. It's funny how the MB 63 AMG S with basically the same engine and better looks (in my opinion) is almost twice as cheaper. I would think the Vantage is more of an AMG GT, Porsche GT3, Audi R8 competitor but it seems to me that all of them are slightly more interesting and make more sense than the V8 Vantage. I think the V12 version (if there is one) would make more sense and would sell more than the V8.

I can see your point - on paper the Aston perhaps doesn't look like it has much of a USP. However, in terms of driving, it is definitely a contender. I would say it is more of a 911 Turbo rival than a GT3 rival, but the others you list are all certainly competitors too. Perhaps the McLaren 540 C and NSX as well. It's quite a crowded segment at the moment!

I’m conflicted....it’s got a German engine, a German transmission, and looks like it came out of Japan...I’m sure it’s a great car from a technical standpoint...it’s just not an Aston imo...I say this as a young man in his late 20’s. I’m all for progression but with this car it just feels like they’ve thrown heritage completely out the window. People didn’t buy the vantage because it was faster than all of its rivals in a straight line, or had the balance of a ferrari, they bought it because it was beautiful and had a soul....

this video should be named. How to review an AMG GTR without saying one is better then the other. but really, Aston is the better name plate. AMG grille an badge area is ehh, doubt anyone would hate the Aston front end

Great review/film, Henry et al! As for the car, I’m sure I’d love driving it, but it’s just not hitting the mark in terms of Aston desirability for me. Perhaps their previous design language was around too long, making the change more difficult to accept?

Am i the only one that thinks that the rear end is...over-shaped? the rear fenders are where they should be, but the body's belt line narrows so much towards the rear it looks like the fenders flare and stretch out way past the body. as much of an improvement the car overall is, it just doesn't look as well-sculpted as the older cars. plus, not a fan of the headlight/grille shape. it could work, but the headlights look too short and egg-like, and the grille is too narrow at the top and flows out to the corners in sort of a gaping fish manner rather than the old car's steeper angle that shapes it nicely. i can say similar things to the rear taillights. the car's exterior details are very nice and it's all very good and well, i just don't think that they tied it in very well proportionally to flow into each other and accent each other as well as the old car did.

Shane Isaacs look again. Miaita lights are more pointy compared to aston's round lights. Not that I necessarily like them but they look nothing like the miata lights.

Not sure what I think about the looks, it looks bored from the front and extremely worried from the rear, I hope it grows on me. I've got to say I'm not a big fan of the sound either, sounds a bit parpy and manufactured, like oh too many cars do nowadays. Great review though!

I think people are going a bit overboard calling the Vantage "too much of an AMG". People are mixing up badge engineering and parts sharing. Calling the Vantage an AMG GT with an Aston badge slapped on is like saying the Pagani Zonda was a re badged Mercedes SL! It is hyperbole but you get my point. The Vantage has a re fiddled, more torquey, version of the AMG 4.0 with different intakes and exhausts as well as a new wet sump oil system. The sound is as close to an Aston as a turbo motor can get and the rest of the dynamics are bespoke. As for the inside, nobody is gonna miss the old Aston infotainment system, stick as much Mercedes as you want in there. In conclusion, you can knock this cars looks because looks are subjective but don't you dare call this a re badged GT!

Can't say it's ugly or anything, far from it, the side and rear is fantastic to look at. But for me they have lost it with this head light design. I loved the style of previous Astons lights, it was unique with out being weird or strange, unlike these for me. The front of this reminds me of Mazdas designs, while not ugly cars either it's not got an Astons face any more for me. In my opinion they should stick to the Porsche design mantra of keeping it looking like a Porsche every time, and rather than completely redesigning with every evolution looks wise just make each new model a more subtle evolution rather than a complete face transplant.

Great review - awesome car. In the right colour combination this is a stunning car. Not a fan of the bright coloured lip and rear diffuser for example, but that’s all optional. Personally I think it looks brilliant. I wish AM all the best. They deserve it, their products have arguably never been better and they have such a broad range of cars now for such a small company from the continuation cars, amazing modern road cars and right up to the Vulcan and Valkyrie. Pretty damn impressive.

The headlights are the biggest mistake Aston has made. Hypothetically if I had the money it would hugely put me off this car despite me being in love with the rest of the car. Such a terrible mistake that will age the car very quickly.

I think it might be due to crash regs. Front bumpers and hoods are getting lower and lower and in order to fit lights that cohesively work with the design, they have to get slimmer and slimmer. See Mustang and now Camaro, both have similar things going on to lower the front.

Miaita grill is very different and its lights are way more pointy compared to aston's round lights. The Aston looks more like a baby Vulcan... A shark on wheels.

Great review, once again in Algarve, I'm surprised how popular it has got. About the car.... I can't shake the looks, it's not a hideous car by any means, but why that gapping mouth of a grill, it puts Peugeot from the 00's to shame, with the headlight design, it looks like a new upcoming Supra with a broken front bumper. I wish they would give the option of slats like in the db11, bringing it closer to the db10 concept.
