The 5th board that we didn't talk about is the ASUS ROG Rampage V Edition 10, we didn't discuss it very thoroughly at the time and only had pictures from the website to show so it got edited out. I think that board deserves more than a quick mention! :-D

What I want you to cover is what devices can be used together. If you plug an M.2 DDS in, does it shut off any U.2 ports? If you run SLI, can you still use any PCI-E lanes for storage? The manuals aren't super clear on how this breaks down.

At the start of the video you mention how for people are only looking to game to stick with the Skylake 6700K but when you start getting into higher end gaming, such as 4k and running more than a single GPU won't the lack of PCIE lanes bottle neck the cards performance?

JJ is great at selling asus hardware however asus doesn't support their boards worth a dam, they will leave you with beta bios and faulty software all whilst happily making a newer board to replace it, case in example rampage black iv, left on a beta bios with faulty sound drivers.

@1979osos8 жыл бұрын
Well to be honest, i have built an x99 system with the rampage v ( first motherboard blew up and got exchanged). It was an expensive build and the most problematic and bug infested build that i have ever experienced in my life, it made me lose confidence in Asus motherboards. I don't know if its the x99 platform, or if this video simply confirms that the previous Asus motherboards were simply put EXTREMELY bad that they had to come up with new ones to gradually give up on product support for the last gen. I have went through hell with my new system and i will think a hundred times before paying for a top tier motherboard from Asus. Not to mention random issues like blutooth not able to pair (randomly), loose audio caps, extremely unstable overclocking (system overclock failed bios screen at multiple events even with bios auto tuning). The list just goes on and on. Asus x99 rampage 16GB DDR4 Ripjaws Asus strix GTX 980 (SLI) Samsung 850 Pro Windows 8 through 10 (problems in all versions)

Disappointed with the X99-Deluxe II PCiE. Why Asus design the PCIEX16_3 share bandwidth with M.2 and U.2_1 while most people insert their 2nd graphic card at PCIEx16_3 and want to use up all the 16x lanes for best performance. Why don't just design the PCIEx16_4 share bandwidth with the M.2 and U.2 as the slot normally will be block by 2nd graphic card located at PCIEx16_3 and not in use.

In term of performance and features, I don't think the new boards is that much different than the 'old' X99's. What they do is add a USB 3.1 type C to the board and change the them color, and some lighting effect. For example, the new X99A Gaming pro Carbon gives u a USB 3.1 type A and some mystic lighting, but takes away the Cinema 2 sound system, replacing in its play the not-much liked Nahimic software.

novice question time, and in that nature its not specs improvement based. Is it hard/impractical to have the 24pin socket pointing towards the front of the case instead of pointing up, I dont think I have seen any boards do this. Since you're not looking for multi-GPU support, you'll save quite a bit. If you're not overclocking, consider the MSI B150M Pro-VD, which retails between $60-90. If you're overclocking, consider the ASRock Z170A-X1 which starts at $92.

Hey Paul, My X99 Deluxe Revision 1 just took a dump and took my 5930k along with it. Intel was amazing and is already sending me a replacement processor. Asus on the other hand is a nightmare to deal with. I had a similar issue with their X79 Sabertooth a year and a half ago. I've only used ASUS in all of my builds throughout my entire life but I'm getting to the point where I'm losing faith in their quality control and customer service.I waited on hold for over an hour today and was then hung up on. When someone finally answered they told me they won't even RMA my board and only gave me the option to send it in for a standard repair. They say it has a 3yr warranty but advanced RMA is only available in the first year. 3 yr warranty is misleading. Assuming i just chunk it and buy a new board (I have no faith in Asus Support after they sent me broken replacement products in the past), what other brand do you recommend? I really want to like the new X99 Deluxe and Strix but I'm not sure that I trust them. The Strix is already getting meh reviews over @ Newegg. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Which board would you choose primarily for gaming and video content creation? Please put these new boards through their paces if you have time. Thanks, love the channel! Best, Stollo
