Build 1. Just GPU TPD is 315 and power supply is 750. Is that okay?

I really wish you wouldn't forget about those of us who actually use a PC for work. I built a new workstation (in a beautiful Fractal North case) for use with office apps and some medium image and video editing, and the Intel A750 for $199 has been terrific. I know gaming is the primary focus here, but it would be really nice if you'd throw us a bone occasionally and remember, some PC's are still actually used for work.

These prices aged like milk. I just paid $1800.00 for a Asus Tuf OC 4090 smh. If I didn't need for rendering I would go with the AMD 7900XTX.

As someone still running a z97-a motherboard i might save up and wait a little bit longer for x870. I need to look into a side by side feature comparison with 670 and 650. Ive seen lots of issues online with boot times and would like a problem free motherboard that i can stretch for the next decade. Maybe i dont need usb 4 now but it could be desireable in 5 years. Choices choices.

For me I've been slowly learning about different components.. more the mid range builds and am4 socket because it's more affordable and still decent for gaming. But I looked at already built PC specs to get an idea of what's compatible with what. And went with a b550 motherboard. Ryzen 5 5600, rtx 4070 super. 850w GPU. Mid size case. An air cooler, that added up to $1700 for me.

someone made the argument that once you reach a certain number of frames, say 100 fps, does it really matter if you get higher frames than than? you pay 500$ more to get another 40fps, but are you really going to notice that much of a difference? like seriouslly

No, no the desktop space will NOT run out of GPUs. Nvidia has the problem of why should they make something more powerful for the desktop other than adding about 25% to 4090 performance, and really that's more on the AI and RT side, not raster. They don't even need to add 25% raster performance to the 5090 because it already blasts away at 4K gaming. And if they make a really powerful 5090 how well would it actually sell. Yes I know the fanboys will scream about all that power, but most fanboys aren't going to spend almost $2000 USD for a desktop GPU, and the people who would already bought a 4090 and most of those people aren't rushing out to buy a new GPU when the 4090 already does what they want. Wealthy families who can buy these types of things don't get wealthy by wasting money, believe it or not. So considering the 4000 series GPUs are so excellent already you MAY see a slowdown in production of desktop GPUs simply because there won't be as much sales. If AMD puts out some awesome lower - mid tier for 1080p and 2K gaming with RDNA 4 which ACTUALLY give excellent performance for RT and AI (using AI upscaling from different companies until they have theirs developed like they said they wouldn't but will), THEN there might be a bit of interest mostly for 2K gaming. Otherwise the next big wave in GPU replacement will probably be GeForce 6000 series (on TSMC N2) and RDNA 5 (on an improved N3). That's when the transistor density will allow a lot more compute power with smaller die, and people need to keep in mind the wide variation of cores that now go into GPUs so getting a 10% boost means a 10% boost in raster, RT and AI. It will also allow power consumption to drop a bit and maybe even costs coming down.

Personally, I'm only focused on the 5090's release-date. Hopefully it's before October! I figured; Why spend $3500 on a long overdue furnace for the house when I could k1ll two birds with one Nvidia! SURE, SURE,.. I'll also need to upgrade to a 600amp service. But, I'll be warm until the house gets repossessed over non-paid electric bills!

So, X670 to X870 is nothing more than a USB4 socket and a little faster memory support. Utterly shocking and, of course, pointless. In the end, a whole new series....just to add a USB4 port !!!

gonna be a hard choice for me when the 9800X3D comes, since it will be Do I go with a Asrock B650M Mobo with a way cheaper 7800X3D or do I go with the same B650M mobo and get the new priced way above 9800X3D decisions decisions, since I now will settle for w/e the next Mid Range GPU they come out with since paying 900$ for a RX 7900 XTX is out of the question this late in it's life cycle maybe if it was 700$ but nope...voting with thy wallet matters especially when you don't wanna give team green the greed. edit: I get the new stuff should have more better IO, pcie lanes, and higher ram/clock support but honestly boils down to the price for the 9800X3D compared to how cheap the 7800X3D is getting since both will be solid choices and the upgrade path will still exist till "2027" or w/e.
