To use full manual mode you need to shift the shifter to the right. For lane keeping assist you need to go into the menu and turn it on, then you'll see two arrows pointing inwards on the green vertical lines

To keep the car in manual mode you have to move the shift lever to the right. That keeps the car in manual mode.

@@MarchedYeti96 then why Porsche and others uses the pdk?
@MarchedYeti96

@@ingegneriafacile pdk is an amazing transmission but they dont last, maintenance is very expensive. More expensive cars use them because their sole focus is performance, not reliability. Cars like the rs5, g82 m4 use the zf8 because they're more practical, not nearly as expensive, and still great transmissions. These cars are also more likely to hit higher miles and be daily driven, compared to a porsche.

Zf8 transmission is amazing. Almost as fast as dct. The latest bmw m5 uses zf8 too.

@13:04 that's not turbo lag, friend: you're going 43 mph in 5th gear... so you're two gears too high. Also, you left it in automated / non-aggressive shift (as marked by the "D5") instead of putting it into sport mode (where it would have an "S5" and the downshift would occur very quickly). That's transmission lag lol, where the wrong gear was selected by the operator. What the driver kinda/sorta did was a top-gear, 50-70 mph roll, which is a generally good measure of power... but without something to compare it to, it's relatively worthless info. Edit: do you see how @13:34 you're going 76 mph and only tickling 4k RPM in 5th gear? That was the "lag" you mentioned... when earlier you were going 43 in 5th (I didn't pay close attention, but probably 1800 RPM or so? 🤷‍♂).

Great car. Really hard to justify going with the RS when the S5 is still so capable and comfortable for the majority of drivers and can easily be modded to be just as fast if not faster if you want that straight line performance. I had an A5 sport back rental while my Tesla was in the shop and it was comfortable and the hatch was nice and practical with plenty of rear seat room for the kids. Pity it only had the small 2.0L golf GTI motor. It was comically slow.

Since there is no v8 in RS cars anymore, the two cars may look the same, but are a bit different in reality. RS cars are "a bit better" version of S5 in all departments. Engines are almost the same with different bore, a few heating related upgrades, extra turbo, etc. Transmission uses a different torque converter. Chassis is a bit stiffer. Color choices are bit cooler. You can definitely tune an S5 or even A5 to be faster than stock RS, it is never going to have the same "drama and excitement" factor. But is it worth extra money? That depends on one's preferences and budget.

@@AccentOnCars Yeah my local dealer has a near fully loaded premium plus S5 sportback inventory around $70k and used B9.5 RS5's with low mileage for about 8~12k more than that. $8k worth of mods on an S5 would cover tuning, suspension, big turbo, intake, downpipe and more... maybe some carbon trim. But it won't buy you an RS badge. Although I have ordered a near fully spec'd out M340i BMW, I'm not committed to the purchase. My lease on my Tesla Model 3 performance ends in late September so I have until then to figure out what comes next. Stock for stock, I know the RS5 will kill the S5 and M340i but I think the BMW may have the best long-term reliability as the B58 has proven itself as one of the best engines of our day and can make obscene power with few mods. Honestly, what I would REALLY like is a 1 or 2 year old M5 but the huge price gap puts it out of my price range in terms of practicality. I COULD afford it but what does it bring that the S5 and M340i don't already have if I never plan to take the car to the track or drag strip? Other than worse gas mileage... A warm fuzzy feeling that I'm getting into a "real" M car? To me, after driving the M3 competition, M340i and M5 all on the same day, same roads, the M340i was just the perfect sweet spot. The M3 was too firm and the throttle was too jumpy in sport mode and seats were not as comfortable. The M340i wasn't really all that much slower (it had X drive and the M3 was RWD) and was more comfortable for just driving around town/traffic. The M5 felt like a bigger, less nimble version of the M340i but significantly faster in a straight line than the others.

I agree that b58 is a very impressive engine. M340i is more powerful than what BMW claims even stock. I have reviews of older 340i and M4. For me personally, it would be a hard choice between the two. M5 is more “luxury” than 3 series and not as nimble. It shouldn't have turbo lag as it has an electric super charger which spools air into the turbo in 200 milli seconds

@@AccentOnCars I would have to watch it again to do that for you and I’m not going to do that. You quoted a lot of specs throughout the post and I think the only 2 you got correct were the HP and torque. One thing stands out was you saying the model you were reviewing had all of the upgrade packages, it did not. Keep working on it and you will become a great reviewer, just know your facts. With regards to turbo lag, I wouldn’t say you were wrong, but it may be the fuel used in this car. I have a 2023 RS5 and there is zero turbo lag.
@AccentOnCars
@AccentOnCars Жыл бұрын
I don’t know which facts you think were incorrect, but I didn’t say it was fully spec’d out. I said it was almost fully optioned without ceramic brakes. The car is definitely almost fully loaded with a high sticker price. Thanks for watching and commenting anyway 👍

@@AccentOnCars I'm jumping in on someone else's comment, so IDK if I can address the stats & facts he's referring to... they generally seemed to be in agreement with my own research. However, there were some glaring issues with being in the right transmission mode. Once you're in drive, just pull the selector back one more time and it'll go into sport mode; this is still an automated mode & it will still shift @ redline. If you fully want to control the trans, you need to slide the gear selector to the right, at which point the car will go into full manual mode... and one will have to perform the upshifts, else the car will bang off the limiter. So IDK, maybe that's what OP was referring to re: "errors". Edit: as noted after the 15 min mark, you caught this lol. Very nice!
