RS-T I feel the interior is tired considering the face-lift was done in 2015 on the C7! Audi where lazy. Dash is all good for me I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything really, carbon part digital screen, it’s all there but needed the full digital on the FL. The MMI updates are just lazy on these cars also! Very annoying on a car I spent over 100k on. Exterior is beautiful, and as a car its exceptional. I’ve had a little work done and run around 770 it’s a real treat, and still impressed me a year later ! . Good luck there’s some great examples about .

Hey Joe, Oddly excited for the full review of this wagon. I'm not surprised by the move towards diesel in the S models. I wonder if its partly to create a wider gap between S and RS 🤔. This move forces those petrol heads to only have the one option, the all out RS. That said, if I had to spend my time up and down the motorway, this looks like it could be a strong contender.

@@willotoole4118 If we are talking about the same thing - that large exhaust-type thing that has smaller single exhaust pipe on the back od 840D - then yeah, you are correct, they are sort of fake and I agree with you that doesnt look nice. But that is much better looking, in my opinion, than these completely fake exhausts that Audi/VAG is pushing on their new Sport models. At least on those BMW you can fix that with some aftermarket parts/add ons.

Mathurin Kerbouchard. As an Audi driver since 2005 I couldn’t agree more. I have fake exhausts on my new A6 40TDI, but that version sort of gets away with it, as they so obviously are fake, this case is different as they try to mimic a nice quad exhaust. My personal opinion is that S6 buyers would typically not buy aftermarket exhausts. They want something more subtle and discrete than the true petrolheads who are looking to perfect and tune their cars. I would not buy this car, just because of the fake exhaust tips. I would go for a used RS6 when that becomes available, unless that one has fake tips as well... 😶

I nearly lost the rag when I saw '2020' in the title, but then saw it referred to the upcoming RS6 and you naturally called it the '2019 S6' in the video, so I relaxed! Maybe I need to get a life, but it is increasingly wrecking my head with all these 'clickbait' titles saying they are reviewing '2020' cars, when it has a '58' or '19' reg on it, trying to make us think they have some sort of exclusive scoop on a future model that hasn't been released yet (plus, it's a bl00dy awful American practice anyway!). NightCoder Kia Stinger is 5 figures cheaper than this, faster, more reliable and has 4 real straight through exhausts. Personally because this is diesel and the fake exhausts that Audi keep using like a 17 year old modding his Corsa, a Kia Stinger and £20k in the pocket or an ex demonstrator M5 are much better value.

I think diesel exhausts point down to prevent soot on walls / passers by etc but ones with DPF can point out. BTW the one shot that was missing was when in back do your feet go under drivers seat ? Tried Merc E400d Estate recently. Brilliant engine but it’s a two seater with a 6ft driver unless their legs are bent and head on roof. Bonkers!

The exhaust are this way because of eu emissions the idea is to fire soot particles down towards the floor. I own a b7 rs4 but after working for audi for several years I have to say the high power diesels work really well. The sq5 bi tdi was incredible. Don’t knock the performance diesels until you’ve actually driven one

I am riding the 3.0 TDI Quattro Competition for almost three years right now. Just made my order for the 2020 S6 and I hope to get the turbo hole covered by the electric compressor. In any case, my old Audi was a perfect mate on long distance trips and I except the new one to be even better. Made some positive experience with the touch screens in an A7 rental car twice and I liked the overall performance. However, you need to store a microfibre towel and window cleaner in your car...

Great review of the new S6 avant. Shame about the fake exhausts and vents. Hopefully the RS6 doesn't have any of that. If I bought a new S6 I would get rid of the fake exhausts and replace with actual ones and replace the vents with real ones the the s6 is perfect with the Mercedes style fake features. Get the torque and mpg. I love rolling up to a diesel pump, finding no disposable gloves, the nozzle soaked in diesel sweat....(or keep a smelly glove in the boot) however, great review as always.

Well, Joe, I just don't get it with the fake exhaust stuff. I own a 8V S3. Four real loudspeakers on the back of any Audi make it an S car. What is on the back of this S6 just seems to devalue it in that respect. It will be interesting to see if you do get used to the touchscreens - I would prefer knobs and dials any day. I'm still looking forward to the full review though.

I currently prefer my C7 A6's controls BUT is the car expecting you to speak to it? Can you say "drivers side temperature" and have the car bring the option up on the screen for you to use? I ask this because some of the newer products I see out there were designed with voice command in mind and seem to be more limited or difficult to use if you do not use the feature.

Man, I'm so happy about your video! You critized the exact same things I did when I testrode the 50TDI and S6. So it's not just me. Yay! ;) Ergonomics are a bit weird for the arms and the turbo-lag is massive (compared to a 530d or 540d). These two things left me in a struggle. Right now, I think I'm going for the 55TFSI. No (or way less) turbo-lag, quite a lot cheaper than the S6 (at least in Germany it is) with just a bit less performance. And the fake-exhaust isn't as embarassing as it is on the S6..

They have fake exhausts as diesels emit black smoke under hard acceleration. Hence why most diesels have downward facing exhaust under the car to attempt to remedy this.

Absolutely agree with you about the dials versus touchscreens. When the car is on the move, touchscreens simply distract the driver much much more than dials. Not to mention finger prints. It doesn't make any safety sense at all with such interface. It sure scores 100% on tech and fancy impression but just fails on actual functionality and safety concern.

Great review Joe. I'm sure the s6 is fantastic but 80k for what is basically an a6 bitdi is ridiculous. Please stop comparing this new one to the c6 s6! If you want comparison compare to the previous c7 which was most definitely quicker! Great car but there's very little 'S' about it. Forget a luke warm 0-60 time which is mainly thanks to the gearbox and Quattro drivetrain- an S car deserves better performance!

Since the S6 is now a diesel, they had to put the AdBlue tank somewhere. It's 24L so they couldn't just squeeze that in there. That's what is located where the right exhaust should be. And the people who are really in the market for this type of car don't care if it's fake or not. A lot of people also don't realise that the "real" pipes sticking out of their bumper aren't connected so where do we draw the line for a fake exhaust?

My A6 has a net you can put up when all back seats are flat. separating back from front for safety. becomes a van :) . I love it! The new exhaust tips on this new car are really bad!! real shame they done this.
