Novelty of EV's is wearing thin these days, but I think something with bigger implications might be happening, which is a mutual silent majority coming to a conclusion that cars with internal combustion engines represent a more exciting and involved driver-oriented experience than any EV is capable of replicating. The lack of sound doesn't attract onlookers and once the silence of an EV becomes commonplace and no longer represents wealth they will be about as attractive to the ladies as pulling up in a golf cart. EV's have many benefits but I don't see how they could ever be more scintillating than something mechanical.
@almac9203Ай бұрын
I don't think you grasp what is going on with EVs. They will replace ICE cars because governments collectively decided to mandate this shift. Manufacturers aren't switching to EVs by choice but are doing so under duress. By 2035 new ICE cars will be banned in Asia and Europe. Manufacturers don't have an incentive to continue to develop ICE cars because of upcoming bans.

They were doing great with their designs, inside and out, but they decided to follow Mercedes and BMW's lead and mess up their entire heritage of building beautiful machines. This for example, looks like they just ripped off the front end of a Hyundai Kona and slapped an Audi badge on it. The interior is just as bland and cheap looking as every modern car, screens and glossy black trims aren't luxurious, never were never will be!

The Avant exterior looks pretty good. The solution for front fascia is to get dark trim and smoke out the headlights with tint film (if legal in your country). The interior is just so so, not as impressive with too much gloss black. The features/tech and performance are comparable to high end Chinese brands but at a significantly higher prices (30-50% premium). The German “luxury tax” is not as easy to justify as it once was, in a world dominated by well made Chinese EVs. Saying this as someone who owns Lexus, Porsche, Mercedes and Xpeng vehicles, among others.

FYI most electric cars when driven at an average speed of around 50-70km/h do actually exceed the rated WLTP. You just have to know what it means
@jinx20001Ай бұрын
i dont think that is true at all, ive owned 2 EV's now, very different in spec and performance and neither could get anywhere near the WLTP under any circumstance. my first was a peugeot 208 EV (50kwh battery, 136bhp), now i own a hyundai Ioniq 5 awd (77kwh battery 320bhp), Neither of them get near the WLTP in the real world even when absolutely striving to make it happen, no heating, no radio, regen or no regen etc. The hyundai WLTP is 299 miles, if i drive carefully... very carefully i might make it 260 miles at a push while taking advantage of every trick in the book, coasting where i can, regen on steep hills, even adaptive cruise control every step of the way which does help. I would need to be absolutely driving unrealistically slow to make it 300 miles and rarely touching the go pedal. None of this is to hate on EV's, im EV all the way from now on as long as they keep making them, rolls royce like silence, porsche like performance... everything most people wanted from ICE cars, you would pay good money for the smoothness and quietness of a rolls while having the explosive performance of a sports car but now everybody hates the idea. With that said, the WLTP figures are bull.

Maybe an ID.7 Tourer would fit nicely. My gripe is how tech-heavy all the EVs are. What's with the door handles?? The powered charge port? Power liftgate and soft-close doors? I mean come on. No one buying this wants any of that. Rememer the 90's when you bought an Audi, it's was simply a solid-feeling car with great materials and build quality, and a powertrain found in nothing else? Well now I feel like we're trying to be convinced to buy these cars based on how many useless non-value added things they have over an ICE. We love EVs. Costly Super Fast Charging is only for those days when you have to drive 300 miles plus considering how much range this car has.
