@@ThirdRailProductions The old Acelas are not suitable as commuter trains, they don't have fast acceleration and they have too few doors. And anyway they're being retired because they're not economical to run anymore. M8s would be a good fit for MBTA, or Exo's surplus ALP-45DP bimode locomotives, or the ACS-64s that Amtrak plans to sell in a few years when they get the new dual-mode Chargers for the NEC

Wow, they actually kept the TGV horn on the Avelia Liberty, a 2 tone horn is practically unheard of in the US. Maybe the Velaros of Brightline West and CAHSR will get the same horn as the ICE trains, that one is extremely distinctive.

As much fun that's been made of the new Acela, I do wish for it to start service. It'll be great for Amtrak to finally retire those old units and get new, updated equipment to the masses. That said, I want Siemens Velaros for Brightline West and CAHSR. 🙂
@GintaPPE10008 ай бұрын
Given the appalling reliability record of the Charger and Venture in American service (as well as Siemens product support utterly bungling the ACS-64 software), Brightline West and CAHSR would be better off buying Avelias that are known to have the kinks worked out of them. And that don't give up the second snow hits the ground: literally every single Charger and Venture set based out of Chicago was down yesterday.

@@Ven100 yeah the Velaro is probably the most popular HST in the world right now, It's been continuously updated and upgraded for years. The Avelia's are Alstom having to learn to TGV again as they haven't built a new TGV since the 200 series which were built late 90s/early00s and I've heard even the SNCF Avelia Horizons have been having similar teething pains to the libertys. As for the Charger memes, the numbers don't support it, service availability on the Charger has been much better than the P42s for a couple years already, and failures on them are usually minor vs P42 starting to have major failures on a fairly regular basis, I remember seeing the video of the P42 blowing a turbine seal last year and hosing down the entire Coast Starlight with hot engine oil.

160 is not slow. HSR trains in Europe Average Below 150 on Conventional tracks
@carlsmith55455 ай бұрын
Are you sure about that? In Europe they have the Eurostar. The Eurostar travels at speeds of up to 300 km or 186 mph and covers the distance between London and France in 3 hours. Also, the Deutsche Ban ICE. This train runs in Germany at speeds of 350 kilometers per hour or 217.48 mph. Also the SNCF TGV operates in France at speeds of 320 kilometers per hour or 198 to 199 mph. Also the TGV (train a Grande Vitesse) is France's flagship highspeed train service is most popular routes from Bordeaux to Paris. This train is the fastest of highspeed lines in Europe, with record speeds of 515 kilometers or (320 mph). A new extension has been added to TGV lines for June 2001. The fastest train on all of planet earth goes to, not Amtrak of the so called mighty United States of America but, to The far more advanced countries of the far east. In Japan, the fastest speeds ever reached by train, the honour of fastest trains on earth goes to the LO series SCMAGLEV in Japan. On its test track, this maglev super train reached speeds of 603 kilometers per hour or 375 mph this incredible achievement means it can travel at double the speeds of the regular Shinkansen speeds. The cho Shinkansen is under construction between Tokyo and Nagoya and then Osaka. When completed, iam going to travel to Japan to experience this technological modern marvel of engineering and transportation achievement. Again!!! Amtrak is slow. It travels at speeds of up to 160 miles per hour but only for a very short distance. So again hats off to you China and Japan and Europe. @@JermaniBurroughs But you have to remember that lines dedicated to bullet train technology is something that will be reached by the California highspeed rail project in the years down the road. But infact, truthfully this is technology the socalled mighty United States of America should of had decades ago. What a shame how the americans demonstrate an ignorance to any kind of advancements except for the advancements that benefits absolutely no one. Like going to mars. The United States of America wants to spend 600 billion dollars or more to put some fool on mars which would benefit absolutely no one except for the fool going there. I rather spend 500 billion dollars to build a highspeed bullet line from Boston Massachusetts to Jacksonville Florida stopping in one city in each state it travels through. With this, you could move millions of americans up and down the entire United States Eastern seaboard with great comfort and at speeds of up to 200 to 225 mph and not a ripple on your martinis. This would benefit everyone.....
