Thank you so much for sharing. How do i know if the show is to long? im so confused. the 13 is snug along the sides, the 13 wide is so comfortable but there is about an inch from the tip of my toe to the tip of the shoe? Whats the typical or right amount for toe room in the front or toebox? i walk on my feet 8 to 10 hrs a day.

Mr. Bodell has a couple pairs of the 990. Though he does enjoy the 928 every so often.

Are these stability shoes as runners talk about. I have pronation to the outside of the shoe along with PF will these keep prevent the pronation?

Which is a better shoes overall - 990 or 1540?

Depends on the needs and/or desires of the customer. 990 is a sportier style while the 1540 has a straight-last which can benefit those with wider feet. It all depends on who is wearing them and if there are any issues such as Plantar Fasciitis, Neuromas, etc.

Hi sir, I have really flat feet fallen arches right foot Bends slightly to fight wear size 14 4e I wear a prostectic boot for my extremely flat feet. Looking for a shoe to wear at work an stand all day by way am 6 foot 3 300lbs

Would the New Balance 990v5 be a good choice for helping with pain caused by Peroneal Tendonitis? Would it be supportive and help take pressure off the outside of foot and underneath it? Thanks, Mr. Bodell.

Mr. Bodell, what do you think of the new version of the 990, the 990v6? Does it have the same support features as the Version 5? I heard the v6 was a very different shoe and no longer considered a stability shoe. It looks like with the v6 NB has removed the supportive midsole shank. Could you explain what the differences are between the v6 and the v5 and what changes have been made? Thanks very much.

I tried it and I hate it because they changed the style. The v5-6 are narrow vs v3

@@mrpgr2321 That was my experience too. After very happily wearing the v5, the v6 was a big disappointment. Totally different and inferior shoe. The sizing has completely changed, now long and narrow. The materials feel cheap and the support is missing. Just another long, narrow, squishy foamy shoe now. I tried different sizes and widths in both gray and black. Returned them all. I can't count on New Balance anymore. I wore NB for years and recommended them to everyone. Not any more. Switching brands.

I would say you are correct. Stability would be found in the 1540. Structure, stability are superior.

I disagree, the version 5 and 6 do have the necessary width/volume. You may want to try the 1540 as well.

We aren't sure why they don't, but some research and speaking with the reps and manufacturers, it's not really something NB is worried about.

Because they are trying to attract a younger market. Period. And unfortunately they are overlooking their longstanding loyal customers who buy NB shoes FOR the health benefits. I don't like the new direction NB is taking.

My 990v3 is now destroy after 9 years. I never had a shoe this durable.

Hi I enjoyed your video. I have the 990V5 in gray and black, black for the office. I use public trans and do a lot of walking. I have flat feet, metatarsalgia in left foot and hallux limitus on right foot. Would the rollbar on the 928 v3 be better for me considering the toe and the metatarsalgia. I do have custom orthotics from the metatarsalgia that i had a few years ago on the right foot. thx

928 would be great. You would not need the orthotic.

Hi...I'm finding the 928v3 is better on the knees when going downstairs vs. the 990v5. Just curious as to why in your opinion. there are days I can zip downstairs in the 928 then some days with the 990 I really feel it in the knees.

I have worn the 990 for years. I have Morton's neuroma and I have pronation. I am looking for a leather shoe. Will the 928 meet my needs?

I have both and the 928 feels very different. You'll need to try them on and walk around the store to see how they feel for you. I've worn the 990 for years also and to me they are much more comfortable than the 928, but still supportive. I wore my 928 shoes for two weeks and they hurt my feet. I also found the tongue way too short. It would slide under the laces and bunch up making the laces loosen up and making the tongue rub the top of my foot. The 928 was just not a good fit for me. I went back to my 990v5 shoes. For a leather shoe, I might try the Brooks Addiction Walker. So far, the 990 has been the best shoe I've ever worn and I have lots of foot problems: plantar fasciitis, achilles tendonitis, peroneal tendonitis and top of foot arthritis.

The 928 offers excellent ankle support. Prevent pronation and align your ankle with the knee and hips. Great shoe.

I have Achilles bursitis and Insertional Achilles Tendonitis. The 990v5 are very comfortable for me. The 928 was not, too tight around the ankle.

Look at 928's, 990's and 1540's. Keep your ankle aligned with knee.

I heard New Balance will be releasing a 990v6 in late 2022 and it looks like they are making some structural changes that concern me -- adding more cushion and making it less supportive, and narrowing the midsole area -- not to mention changing the classic good looks of the shoe. Have you heard anything about this, Mr. Bodell? I was hoping you could give us some details. I have problem feet and the 990v5 is the only shoe I can wear. But I am seeing a trend at New Balance, toward trendy lifestyle "designer" shoes and away from the high quality shoes that offer great support. When they start removing the supportive features of their flagship shoe, the 990, that is worrisome and indicative of this new trendy/flashy marketing to youth movement I see New Balance pursuing. Hey, that's fine, but don't forget your longstanding loyal market that loves your classic, supportive shoes! Don't take those away and don't change them.I tried both the 928 and 1540. The 990v5 is the perfect shoe for me, both comfortable and supportive. I hate to see it ruined for the sake of "trendiness". Thanks for your videos, they are very informative!

Version 6 990 will still have the encapsulated heel cup, strong counter and kevlar shank. Need not worry. the shoe will give excellent support.

He is a Mister indeed! The 1540V3 paired with some random Carhartt arch supports i had cured my insufferable hip and back pain ive had since childhood. I just wish they werent so ugly but i dont even care. Everytime i think i should wear my "cool shoes" im in pain within minutes so im selling them all on ebay.
