I work on a ship. So the platform of the makeshift hoops on board is steel. XDR is the way to go. My Jordan 35 still holds up. NB is hard to get on a sale and I hope I could try one. Nice review Doc👍

I’m loving the reviews from such an analytical foot pro! My feet are pretty rough doctors have always said they don’t even know how I play sports. Any chance of reviewing some of the shoes from China? I’ve been eyeing the Li Ning WoW and Yushuai (which I have on the way to test out) lines as well as the Anta KT 7. The Chinese brands are supposedly built on a wider last which would be great for me plus the outsoles are designed for outdoor courts which is what is primarily played on there. Leading me to believe they could be pretty versatile for multiple sports. Appreciate all the effort, keep up the good work!

You should make a “Zach Score” list (like the Doug score by Doug DeMuro). A number for different aspects of a shoe such as cushion, stability, durability, maybe width so that everyone can see direct comparisons between the shoes you’ve tested. I know I’d personally like to see KD14 compared to GT jump and new balance two wxy side by side. Great videos btw! Huge fan 👍🏼

I toy with this back and fourth- i do a head to head series and have only done one with hoop shoes but i do a rating out of 20- i need to get back to it for basketball- if you want you can check it out and see if it gels

New balance makes SUPER durable basketball shoes. I have an original pair of the OMN1s that I could still play in today if I wanted to. I wore through 4 different insoles while playing in them. They lasted me nearly 2 1/2 years of playing almost every single day.

Hey Zach. I have a question for you. My fiancée experiences pain in her feet. She works as a dental assistant and we have tried zoom Pegasus, ultraboost, croc nursing shoes and other sneakers. None of which have truly helped. She has flat feet and over pronation. But I was wondering is there a particular sneaker or two you would recommend her to try? Thank you

When you talked about the grip coming in when the rubber got warm (who else but Zach would mention that in a shoe review btw...love it!) got me thinking about the rubber parallels with racing tire testing which I do a lot of...something I'm always doing is taking shore A durometer readings when I try new tires...have you thought about adding this to your data sets for shoes?...I know you recently added the ladder test so why not add rubber durometers? Out of curiosity I tested several of my shoes and there is a definitive range of durometers for tennis (~65-80) and indoor court shoes (~55-70). Something to consider...and the results are not always what you'd expect...i.e. the On Roger Pros are NOT the softest rubber compound for tennis shoes, they are actually more in the middle ~72

Just note you will have to take several readings in various places and take an average because depending on the tread shape differences along the sole the readings can vary quite a bit. However if the shoe has areas of bigger tread blocks those spots will give the most consistent/accurate readings. Different rubber colors tend to give different readings also.

Even on slick racing tires we have to take several readings across the tread and average them and that is with a nice smooth/flat surface so yeah measuring shoes will be more complex and heavily dependent on measuring the flattest/biggest blocks and taking the average value but still very doable once you get the hang of it.

That’s usually the case going side to side but for hard pivoting something radial will grip maybe a bit better but yeah the ff2 clay should be like a suction cup

They gave out violently outdoors for me...never using them again because of the traction..and the foam takes some getting used to...I wish they still used abzorb in certain areas of the padding

And new balance used to have some very good basketball shoes...I recall a pair that were white and navy leather with abzorb as the cushion....I loved those shoes..they were a little on the heavy side, but I didn't feel the ground impact at all...it was like somebody was catching you and putting you down...I wish they used abzorb and just changed the upper...but they are a good company as far as good tech for their shoes..i think they need a few more players in their list for signature shoes..and perhaps could make a new kind of cushion to be able to give different types of feel on court for larger or smaller players...fuel cell is not the best in my opinion...it's like it doesn't give..I liked new balance so I got the kahwi also which imo are much better than these..but I'm happy New balance is making bball shoes because I have liked their shoes in the past and I'm looking forward to see what they implement in future models

I totally dislike fuel cell in basketball shoes..I got the two wxy and the kawhi 1... both are very unforgiving when it comes to cushion, hurt my heel planting In the kawhis, and slipped out violently on an outdoor court in the two wxy..I had a new balance shoe from around 2000 and they were like heaven..didn't feel the shock at all...they were a little on the heavy side, but well worth it..I wish they would put absorb back in with maybe other lighter materials to balance out the shoe...fuel cell sucks for basketball though

I liked them quite a bit. Big guy with wide feet, largely play indoor. The bite isn’t the same as a Jordan 36 or the KD 14, but it’s fine. I’m also a new balance guy. Largely wear new balances in my other walks of life. New balance loafers are what I normally wear casually or for work (I’m an attorney) and I wear the 1540s to the gym. Good shoe. Wish they had a rollbar basketball shoe.
