That was so satisfying . I plan to make one using an old stainless steel pressure cooker. The removable lid make it easier to load and unload. You could also use a large magnet to separate the steel balls quickly.

Great job man. Necessity is the mother of invention. The material should give a great recovery. Thanks for sharing. I have used a 1/2 bag cement mixer to remove gold from quarts rocks. I put in some steel balls from a ball mill and let it ride. Always a great recovery.

Dusan, thats a perfect ball mill, I was getting ready to suggest that you put something inside to bounce everything around but you already did that lol. I like that you spaced it our unevenly too. Much better mixing ability! You can probably sift through the powder easily if you flush it with water and gently pan it.

You mentioned that before your new ball mill, you used a motor grind unit. You don't seem to have a video about how you make the motor grinder. Maybe those who would prefer not to ash chips could use the grinder technique and not a beverage blender.
@armoryindustrial7884

Make sure the finely dispersed powder isn't explosive. I don't know. Ground everything (electrically). Also, normal ball mills use non sparking ceramics, for both the ball material and the liner, steel on steel will spark. Just be safe. Nice results!

Hey mate incredible results, incinerating them definitely makes it work faster than putting them in without burning. I like to not burn them because I live in a very populated neighbourhood with annoying neighbours who complain about the smell 😂 Make sure you wear a dust mask as well as your gloves, lots of hard work earning money isn’t worth anything if you get silicosis or another lung disease which causes early death. Safety first buddy.
@Alex-kp3hr
@Alex-kp3hr 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I too live in Australia in a populated neighborhood and prefer not to incinerate. Just takes a little longer. Per above Armory Industrial's comment, I didn't even consider that the very fine powder could explode with steel on steel grinding pieces producing a spark. Could adding a little bit of water keep the dust down?

I too was thinking the same thing. Not all of us have the ability to burn chips in small close neighborhoods. Open fire restrictions are in place in many Countries, cities, and small towns. I think Dusan is right that the sharp edges of the steel pipes will eventually break down the un-burnt chips, it just will take longer, maybe even overnight or longer so if you are in no hurry this might be the answer. In a neighborhood where your neighbors are right next door, you may think about putting the whole mill in some kind of sound proof box.

@johnross8939
@johnross8939 2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't add any liquid to the container, especially acid. The liquids will attack the steel and iron. Also make a mess to wash the mill out. Besides, acids will require a vent to exhaust their gasses. Recommend you use a metal serving spoon to help scrape the burned ICs out of the burn box.

Hi Dusan, Your new ball mill looks great. I was wondering how long would it take to pulverize 1kg non-burnt epoxy ic flat packs and 2 sided chips? If you want something that can do the job in 30 minutes, think about using a DIY hand held angle grinder mill using no welding. I saw one used for pulverizing small quartz rock to a fine powder in 30 seconds. I think quarts has a harder PSI rating than epoxy which means that epoxy chips would be easier to pulverize than quartz using the angle grinder mill. I saw it at: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3WmgIqEpN6HZ6M. Cheers from Australia.
